Western Border Football League - 2021

It seems to me in reading the final report that they plan to restructure the kntfl and mid se leagues....perhaps into 1 league or a tier comp.
Wouldn't penola be better off transferring into the wbfl rather than be restructured into the comp ???

Phil Carmen has been announced as East Gambiers new coach:eek:
Im not sure whether these guys are on drugs or they are magicians.
Does anyone know his recent history.
This could backfire big time if he cant attract quality players to the club!

I would say he would be absolute quality. What he did with sturt was pretty outstanding. Great pick up by East. Don't know what he has been up to and don't know about attracting players but you'd think there would be a few fathers who have no hesitation sending their sons his way. Boundary umpires beware.

Ps the way that boundary umpire carried on its no wonder he head butted him.

Why dont the three leagues (wbfl, msefl & kntfl) create 1 league - then split in two divisions, northern and southern?
Have mount gambier as the base for the southern and maybe bordertown for the northern.
Teams which fall in a 75-100km radius from the base's play in that division.
Introduce the points system to try and even out the comp, then you can also have a grand final in both div's and maybe the two premiers from northern and southern can play off?

See if you can get a hold of the Open Mike interview with Fabulous Phil. It's worth a look, particularly if you have never seen him play and are unaware of some of the history behind him.

Better still pull up the thread on the Fourth Estate Board and have a good read.

He's a flawed genius no doubt but he will be a great addition to East.

I think the sacfl are committed to bringing pt mac, naracoorte and penola into the wbfl...or whatever they call it

My concern about Carmen lies around his more recent times,
Has he been involved recently with football???
Or has he been dragged out of a vacuum???
I thought East were looking for a playing coach?

Just wonderingly if Carmen is enough to get some players back. Would say East have burnt their bridges with Karl Slape.

I doubt if too many would come back the whole culture of this club would have to improve significantly to appeal to them, mind you many were a part of it themselves!
East need some real on field leadership and character i personally cant see it happening they have developed an inbred culture that has no vision at all and Carmen will have his job cut out and less he can attract real quality to this club on field!

Casterton signed new playing coach
Dylan Ayton- former VFL player and captained Spotswood to a few flags
Big CHB - good signing Hopefully bring a few players with him

If the Phillips leave East it will be a big blow, it will also go along way to derailing the brain fade of hiring someone who can bring no onfield leadership to the club in Carmen.
The beginning of the end for East???
I hope not as it would be good to see this club emerge from where it has been for so long now, the sewer! to become a strong club again but i cant see it happening!!!

Cats have signed Imperials 2012 B & F winner Tim Meulendyks for season 2013.
Good young player who wasn't a rap for the merger - quality signing with hopefully many more to come.

Any word on where Grant Coxon has gone? Would he be a huge loss for the Cats?

Grant Ewing could be on the move as Penshurst have signed Justin Eales and James Delahunty and coach and assistant from the Stawell Warriors. Going down the youth path there.

Handy player Ewing, have heard a whisper that Millicent are going down the Old Fart path and are tipped to announce Andrew Nitschke as Coach and 34 year old Peter Burgoyne assistant and Tim Melira Fitness coach

So what you're saying is millicent couldn't find a coach.

Why would you name someone of Burgoyne's standing as an assistant and whats the connection with Millicent..money?
