Absolutely lowy, I didn't mean to insinuate that Millicent weren't competitive, just that I didn't think adding Bronte to the senior side would change their overall fortunes much. Some of the closest, and toughest, games I played in when i was having a kick in the ressies in the WBFL were against the Saints, they always used to go up a cog against us and broke us down one time at McLaughlin Park when Renata (excuse my spelling if I have got it wrong) kicked a goal after the siren to beat us by a point.
The shed was always full of blokes prepared to give you a big mouthful if you stuffed up as well! It must be hard for Millicent to retain players with blokes opting to play in the MSE with Hatherleigh, or at the Burr etc.
I noticed there was a raft of "outs" for East last week and no Ransom and I believe Cookie missed as well?

Heard from a source that it is a pretty good chance that big Matty might return. Not really getting a go at Glenelg so maybe time to head home. Would be excellent news.

The shed is a great place to be and the atmosphere is great when we/they are giving it to the opposition supporters.
Also have heard of a few guys from the MSE possibly heading into Millicent next year. THough I hear those sorts of things every season.
i doubt matt duldig will return. not many guys that leave as 18 year olds return to small towns to play football, especially at 25 when they are set with friends, jobs. yeh u are right with that call j-train about the little clubs around millicent, the problem being that these clubs have just as much money and support as millicent. these clubs all have 5-6 players who could slot straight into millicents senior side but do not want to travel 160 km for a game of footy

Yep Millicent's shed is a top spot to watch footy but my favorite place is Can Hill at the Burr, its a bit tamer than it used to be. Still the shed is the best in WBFL and awesome when shes rocking. Heard Duldig resigned as coach but signed on again.
i did say last week that i thought east were in trouble but after watching parts of the game on saturday they looked the goods. jason dunn was great in the heavy wet conditions..

God forbid those grounds that have turf wickets, dont get me wrong the vic tigers have good facilities at hanlon park but that centre wkt area was ordinary at best.
It should be interesting the 2nd semi at Millicent, hopefully a good crowd will be there despite the zooey league i think having their pre-lim at tantanoola.

After the rain that every ground in the league would have had on it lately, I doubt any oval would be in top notch condition....West was certainly ordinary on Saturday also...
reading yesterdays portland observer there was an article about winis imbi and where he would coach again. couldnt see why he wouldnt good young talented list but really missed the services of clint lancaster this season who i belive was proberly the best player in the league and would have been my best on ground in the grand final last year.

I think you are right. Clint is probably Portland's best player alongside James Imbi who was also absent this season. Winis should coach on and losing will only make the youngsters who have only known winning will become hungrier due to doing out in stright sets.
While it's disappointing for Portland after their great year (b4 finals), it won't take much for them to stay at the top - unless player turnover could happen. With the addition of JImbi & Lancaster, i still think they will be a force in the seasons to come.
On the subject of Lancaster, who undoubtedly prior to this season was the best big man in the area & league; there is no doubt that Millicent's Cameron Haggett is & now the premier ruckman in the area & league.
Not only is he a good tap ruckman he is good around ground and even dangerous resting up forward....no doubt he could be a smokey for this sunday's medal count !?

I'll have a crack at it. Marcus England, Tim Stringer, Brent Howard, Darren Kelly, Josh Ransom. Haggett is a solid ruckman, but in my opinion went a little backwards this season. Kelly was the number one big man in the comp because he was so versatile and gave Imps so much around the ground as well as in the ruck.

pretty suprised with some of the team of the yr players. players a bit stiff not to get a gurnsey. coxon(casterton),haggett(millicent ruck), fouran(south full back) noonan(south) anderson ransom(east), o many ruckman cant be excuse last yrs team had plenty(lancaster, slape, nulty).
Please any1 that was present at the medal count on sunday tell me if the team of the year that the border watch sports journo - 'rocket' Rod Morrison selected was the actual one !?

Spoken like a ruckman standing up for ruckmen I reckon. Coxon had a great year and could have made a case, Haggett is a great ruckman who in my opinion was a little below his best at times this season. Noonan was definitely stiff, should have got in ahead of Flett, but maybe the selectors were thinking Flett would be the second ruckman from centre-half-forward? I don't think you have to pick three ruckman if there have not been three standout ruckman. Kelly was clearly the best ruckman this season, he may not have won 100 per cent of taps, but he won a lot and directed them well and also gave his side plenty around the ground. Ransom, Anderson and Foran also had great years and might have been unlucky, but I'm interested who you would kick out of the team for them or the above mentioned ruckmen. You can't just put 30 odd blokes in, it is meant to be an elite team, not an elite squad. I reckon this team is the closest out of the last few. And no bigant, the border watch team was not the official one, just their view of who they would pick I think.
