West lucky to hang on, 6 goals up at half time and only kicked 2 goals in second half.
Was a great contest in the 2nd half and Millicent only have themselves to blame for a run of 3-4 points in the last 7-8 minutes of the game, including a fairly simple shot from about 20mtrs out on slight angle.

Congratulations to WGFC on the premiership, well earned.

What a game of footy! Even the umpiring picked up after the first quarter, too bad Saints you've been hammered by everyone all year. Was it a goal?

doesnt matter if its was a goal or not the results stands. to mr hockley and his mates get that one up ya.
got to fill sorry for millicent, played well as for the umpires they were ordinary for both sides

The umpires were average too both sides, one wonders though one of those men in white has a bigger opinion of himself than afl ump 'razor' Ray Chamberlin...
You couldn't blame any individuals for the saint's loss, the slow start probably cost it for them. It was a great game of football, whilst being a good advertisement for WB footy !!! You could'nt have gotten a better atmosphere to shove it up Freddy Smith and the mid se honcho's.

$56,000 dollar gate suggest that it was huge game. will be intersting what teams will be there next year, Hamilton spending big money Imps will be there abouts, south may start to slide North who knows with them. west will need to hold the young players, and poor heywood hopefully they will be competetive.

I'm with you willwonker, Vaughan made a dick of himself no matter how much he is respected by others, certainly not me. Can't ask for a better game then on the weekend, some say west were lucky to hang on and didnt deserve to win it, I think they certainly do, as every club has seemed to be againts them in the GF, and hoped they partied hard as they have have been flogged for years and some still have no respect for them. Think West are at the start of something special for years 2 come!

Brilliant game, pity there had to be a loser really. You cant deny west but it just goes to show how much our great game can be decided by a few inches or a little injury. Wouldnt the saints have loved tilley out there in the last quarter instead of one of their reserves players who did very little. You would think west will only get better due to their age, millicent may have to wait another 26 years. You never know

Likely BS that Sturt's premiership player and leading goalkicker Brant Chambers will join West Gambier next season, as reported by Morrison in the border watch.
Has already been mentioned as staying at the blues next season or joining a couple of recent retiring sturt players in the div 2 ammo's in Adelaide.

a lot of rumours going around, hamilton bring fiora`s brother to play plus a few others, spending up big.
portland looking at ex AFL players, south losing a few to MDSE clubs. west signed 3-5 players already

being a heywood man kobh i thought you would be able to fill us in on that one? or are you to busy making coffees and cake.

word from across the boarder is that a player walk out at heywood (which would be a shame after the progress they made in 2010) if johns dosent coach/play.

Heard while west have gained 3-5 players being from the mid se, they've lost that same amount with the key departure of Jarrod Ryan. Word is it that North have picked up a few from ballarat or bendigo and the saints are talking to a couple locally and abroad. The only notable loss at this stage being Troy Hosking to retirement with everyone from the grand final side re-signing, also Gascoyne to spend the off season in Darwin with waratahs.

Can confirm you that everyone from west grandfinal side has resigned except 2 players who are Luke Davey who has been on holidays and Allan Kennedy who has moved to Adelaide. So that puts rumours to an end with west loosing players, Jarrod Ryan was nearly first player to resign and who is arguably best player in the League. West have also signed tyson plonges, tory weaver and brett sutherland all from the mid south east league, but have heard aren't far off with a couple more.

luke and Brad have not signed but rest have, but may loose scanlon to adelaide any way, but as we all know its the the silly season and will not know how teams will line up until firts game

According to the Border Watch today Heywood are still hoping to get Johns as coach, while Casterton and Portland still remain without coaches. It suggested that Casterton may make an approach to ex-Geelong player and local lad Max Rhook.

Tyson Ploenges has signed with West G after 2-3 seasons with Kongorong after playing juniors with West. Also signing on is Glencoe half forward Tory Weaver.

I thought Grant Coxon was appointed Casterton Coach weeks ago?

I'm pretty sure he was too. It said in the Border Watch Rod Morris couldn't get in contact with Casterton's president. Probably has got something to do with no one liking Rod, because he can never get his facts right and has no idea what is actually going on. Hopefully the cats can have a bit of luck this year injury wise because they could be pretty dangerous up the top end of the ladder, showing when they beat south in the last minor game of the year with a full squad.

He'd be a good FF at Casterton, depending how bad is his knee is

Courtney Johns has been courted by ex Heywood coach, Brad Sinclair to join him at Darnum next season. Should be a handy pick up. :thumbsu:
