Pick 40 Carlton select Noah Mraz
198cm defender

One of the only true key defenders capable of locking down a forward and excelling in one on ones in this draft. At the start of the year I had Mraz comfortably in the top 15 after 2 years of consistent football and steady improvement however after a foot injury wiped out essentially his entire top age year it would be no shock to see him fall to this spot but a position I'd be more then comfortable picking him in.
Signs are good that he is over the troublesome navicular injury after performing admirably at the combine considering his interupted year.
In a couple of years he will make the perfect combination with Weitering.

Going by the post on the first page we are upto CaptainMurphy and Essendon although I'm not sure if that is correct with three pick 41s listed.

Yeah I think that's right, I traded up to 41 and matched bids took out a couple, so I've ended up with 3 in a row. Right before the Dogs pick too. Wild.

Taking into account where every team should be done (according to Twomey), the order for the rest of the draft should be:

ROUND 3
42 Essendon (Archer Day-Wicks)
43 Essendon (Tom Sims)
44 Carlton (Ben Camporeale)
45 Western Bulldogs (Sam Davidson)
46 Port Adelaide
47 Collingwood
48 Essendon PASS
49 Geelong
50 Collingwood
51 West Coast
52 Geelong
53 Collingwood
54 Sydney

ROUND 4
55 North Melbourne
56 Adelaide
57 Geelong
58 Fremantle
59 Essendon
60 Carlton
61 Hawthorn
62 Carlton PASS
63 West Coast
64 GWS PASS
65 Geelong
66 Gold Coast
67 Hawthorn PASS
68 Carlton PASS
69 Sydney PASS
70 Gold Coast

ROUND 5
71 Richmond PASS
72 North Melbourne PASS
73 West Coast PASS
74 Adelaide PASS
75 Melbourne
76 Gold Coast PASS
77 St Kilda maybe pass?
78 Fremantle PASS
79 Collingwood PASS
80 Carlton PASS
81 Western Bulldogs
82 Geelong PASS
83 Port Adelaide PASS
84 Brisbane

ROUND 6
85 Melbourne PASS
86 St Kilda PASS
87 Essendon PASS
88 Western Bulldogs PASS
89 Brisbane

I hope that makes sense. I've kept the first pass for each team in the order so that points values are kept in place.

(updated with Camporeale bid)

Port Adelaide
Pick 43 - Jasper Alger

I didn't really want to take another smallish forward, but Alger can really leap for his size and he's just 'best available' out of the players I know at this point. No idea how he tested (if he did) - just another guy who seems to have "something" if you see any vision.

From rookie me

He placed fourth at the National Draft Combine for his 2.931-second 20m sprint, and came 10th in the agility test (8.141 seconds)

He's someone I'm surprised isn't often rated higher TBH. Less on output and more on how his play will transfer into the AFL.

Pick 47 Collingwood FC
Hugh Boxhall

Good sized midfielder who moves smoothly and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Collingwood have needs across their whole list, but with imminent retirements from Pendles and Sidebottom, I’m taking a midfielder first up.
Although not as prominent as many of his fellow draftee mids, with his size and physical attributes, his game sense, I think he could be a real steal as a 3rd round pick.

There's no secret that Port would hope a Whitlock falls to them at pick 31(ish). I have considered reaching for a quick mid given Butters has one foot out the door and a Bontempelli poster on his wall (jks!), and I did consider Dodson as the supposed best ruck in the draft pool but you're better off trading for one these days than drafting a ruck.

Eventually I settled on a player who should be rated far higher than he is.

Port select: James Barrat

Height: 194cm, late birthday too.

Plays best as an intercept defender. Has genuine closing speed and strong marking. Nominally a swingman, I do think he's better behind the ball and plays with a bit of anger/mongrel that the best talls all possess.

Munnez you're up again

Really like Barrat. Wouldn’t surprise if he’s a bolter on the night. Lots of upside.

You’re up Hoges64

I hope your next pick is a zero game, all time spud.

I DOUBLE hope this, because the fact they are extreme dicks, and the imminent retirement of Blicavs and Stanley, and the recurring injuries to Conway, means Geelong bid on Logan Smith of the GWS Giants academy.

CaptainMurphy do you have any picks left to match?

Nope! All yours
Giddy up!!!

Logan Smith

height: 204cm

D.O.B. : 24-09-2006.

STRENGTHS:

  • Clean hands
  • Follow-up work
  • Reach
  • Ruck craft
  • Size
  • Strength

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Endurance
  • Speed

Smith is the type of ruck whose size and aerial range forms the crux of his success. The 204cm prospect boasts a 273cm reach, the largest of anyone to test at the National Draft Combine. He is also solidly-built and utilises his frame to either hold his ground or push opposition rucks off the line of the ball. More often than not, particularly because of his physical gifts, he is able to get first hand to the ball.

While some of his craft can be further refined, Smith won the most hitouts to advantage at the Under 18 National Championships from an average of 21.5 overall. Smith's ability to do so was evident amongst his peers, but also held up against senior opposition in the VFL where he won 22.9 hitouts per game. The next step will be to convert his ability to hit the ball first, into more direct and purposeful taps.

Many of Smith's contributions occur at stoppages. Seven of his average 10.5 disposals during the National Championships were contested and 3.3 were clearances, as he followed up his initial acts and showcased sound fundamental skills. Smith played within his limits to take the ball cleanly and quickly dish off to running players, as shown by his handball-to-kick percentage of nearly 75 per cent in Allies colours.

While relatively mobile for his size, Smith can look to enhance some of his athletic traits. His speed and endurance are areas for improvement, with the latter a factor which could see him impact more around the ground, or away from the contest. Doing so will enable the bigman to stay involved in the game and have a greater marking presence, especially up forward where he could develop his scoreboard impact.

Pick 50 Collingwood FC
Charlie Nichols - Central Districts.

A tall utility who covers the ground extremely well and has some of the best mits in the draft.
Started his 18’s season as a forward, averaging 2+ across his first 6 games, before a move to the backline in a National Champs game showed his versatility with a strong intercept performance.
Not a world beater at either end, his versatility and ability to take a strong grab would be appealing enough to a Collingwood side that needs talent at both ends. A solid pick up for the pies with their 2nd pick of the draft.
