Yeah still up for it, it's not so much about a specific player. You in?
Why not, all for shits and giggles really anyway, and I think Geelong would take that deal*.

*They'd be absolute dicks and demand 47 instead of 48, and a future fourth to go with it.

With Pick 33, St Kilda select exciting ruck/forward Kayle Gerreyn from West Perth.

After losing Membrey and Hayes this off season, the Saints look to bolster their tall forward stocks with the West Australian.

Standing at a smidge below 200cm, Gerreyn will look to form an exciting partnership rotating with Rowan Marshall who looked great spending more time in the forward line in the back half of last year.

This also allows them to stop rucking 190cm Mitch Owens. I considered Alex Dodson at this pick, although Gerreyn’s raw potential, positional versatility and forward craft edged him over the line.

Saints selections so far:
Harvey Langford
Tobie Travaglia
Kayle Gerreyn

goodcop badcop Hawthorn's up, unless you traded the pick and I didn't notice

I completely forgot I was Hawthorn as well

Pick 34 - Hawthorn- Harry O’Farrell

Will try to do a longer write-up later. One of the most versatile key position players in the draft, O’Farrell possesses very good athleticism for a key position player and is a good competitor that competes well both in the air and at ground level. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see a lot of what he can do this year mainly because of injury, but he showed he can hit the scoreboard late in the year as a forward and showed very good form as a defender in the academy game earlier in the year.

Whilst Hawthorn traded most of their draft hand for key position players, I'm taking another one here also as he's best available and could be the replacement for Barrass or Chol long term.

weltschmerz you're up.

Oh cool, he's still here? With pick 35 Bulldogs select Christian Moraes.

Moraes has a lot of Ryley Sanders to him, in both strengths and weaknesses. He racks it up at will through the midfield, is clean and efficient by hand, and can do double duties in the forward line; he's also got elite endurance and is a great run and carry player. Like Sanders, he'll need to work on his defensive game, but as someone who could easily have gone at my last pick in the 20s, he's slid too far to not take here.

Second choice if Moraes was unavailable was Jack Ough. It's pronounced Ow.

Like promising to "never drink again" every Saturday morning for about 3 years, I have to break a promise here.

Pick 36 - Alex Dodson

203cm - Ruck from Sturt

The first player to ever play AFL football after playing basketball as a junior, Alex chose football and is widely considered the best 'pure' ruck in the draft pool this year. He managed to get his hands on the ball quite a bit and finished the season averaging 27 touches over the last month, getting the Bevo tick of approval. Unlike many (most?) others I'd probably punt on Gerreyn first, but that's not an option here.

He's actually a weird one to get a handle on. He does double-grab the ball in some marking contests and looks to handball before he looks to kick, so the write ups calling him 'another midfielder' when the ball hits the ground can be misleading. On the flip side, he plays agile for a 203cm kid (no idea how he tested) and seems very good at picking up the ground ball, especially for a ruck.

He gets to be mentored by the brilliant Jordan Sweet and can bide his time, although Ken occasionally tries to play two rucks and may do so in the absence of Dixon next year so Dodson may defy the odds and debut next year.

Cool, I’ll be bidding on Adrian Cole from St Kildas NGA DiamondDogs8
Oops… may have shot my load too early there. Correct me if I’m wrong but bid matching discounts have been reduced from 20 to 10%?

Pick 38 - 465 points
Pick 43 - 378 points

Now I’m no mathematician but it appears I don’t have enough points to match.

Anyone like the look of my future fourth rounder?🤣

I think that change doesn't come in until next year.

Per this table, you only need 268 points to match. You match with pick 43 with 110 points left over, that becomes pick 64.

With the key defenders I was interested within this range all dried up now,
I look to other areas of the ground for West Coast

West Coast selects Lachie Jacques

So along with Hotton that I took at West Coasts first pick, I feel as if Jacques offers the ability to play both down back & rotate through the midfield to give the Eagles a real dynamic duo.

I’d have Jacques about equal at the moment with players like Oliver & Clarke who went well earlier so he feels like really good value at this selection

He has solid skills, is a good height, amazing endurance and captained the Geelong Falcons.

Another player I thought of taking here was Luke Urquhart but felt as if Jacques was a bit more flexible where he could end up playing where Urquhart did not
