mmm I think its dependent on what the logo is being used for. That one is their formal logo, and if they're after something along the lines of what Geelong's got going on then the formal one doesn't necessarily need to be fierce..

That is absurd.
And Footscray does not have the connotations it once did. In WA, it was seen as a struggle town. An area for the deros, the unfit. I do remember it also being termed as "Foot-argh-scray" a lot, which I guess was due to its high Italian population?
I go to Melbourne a fair bit, and Footscray is certainly not a terrible area.
North Melbourne and Carlton (along with Fitzroy) are my favourite Melburnian suburbs. It's certainly not a shithole.
And all those suburbs are quite expensive. They're full of young professionals and hipsters. And in thirty years, these areas will be more and more expensive and elusive.

I looked for ideas to design one last night. I found several bulldog designs that looked very similar to some in this thread. Logo design is like a minefield. Ooops!! sorry, that's yours, Ooopps!! sorry, that's yours.

Really North Melbourne and Carlton are your favourites? They are just about my two least favourite places in Melbourne! haha.
I actually don't think I've ever walked around Footscray before, only driven through...
I try to stay away from the surrounding suburbs now, I live in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne (Maroondah region) and go into the city every few weekends, it's a nice place, but I mainly tred around the CBD more than anywhere else, I just don't like the feel of the suburbs (I used to have to sleep in Carlton quite often)
But I think above any of those places, the streets like Chapel St. and Brunswick St. are the places I hate the most, it's just the muggy feel I guess.
