Western Jets 2006?

Cam Lockwood is a gun and were not having a go at his size, we are just making the point that his height may be a disadvantage for him in the future. Other than that he is a complete football package but there is always room for improvement so I hope to see the Jets get the best out of his this year to give him the best possible chance of being drafted. He deserves it.

Super player and will once again shine at TAC level this year. Apprently was captain a bit late last year, so maybe he can add some leaderships skills to his bag of talents. He missed alot of shots on goals though i noticed, maybe one area he can improve.

Agree with you Kegs.. he missed a lot not just on the run but set shots. If he could improve on that, he is going to be a dangerous player up forward cause he creates so much play out of the midfield. Will be exciting to watch!

Yeah he really impressed me throughout the season. Especially for a bottom age player. Looking forward to watching him in 2006 All he needs to do is step up another level next season and lead by example. This is something that the Jets have lacked in previous years. The bottom age players have good seasons then fail to move up to the next level as top age players. So it will be interesting to see how the year pans out. Playing a lot of bottom age players in 2005 will be an advantage for the Jets as a lot of the guys next season will have TAC Cup game experience.

what do people that know jake think of that? Has he spoken to carlton at all, give us your feedback, great result for jets.

Good luck to the boys back at training its like going to school twice in a day.
Lyons would be in a similar position to sutcliffe who was close to getting drafted last year, 15 touches a game up 23 this year does any1 no where he is training at and how he is going, most talented player to come out the jets.

Where the bit about Jake Edwards from????
Heard Sutcliffe was training at essendon.
Matt Burgan's Phantom Draft on afl.com.au

I do know Carlton had a very strong interest in Edwards during the season, but I thought pick 36 was a bit early. Burgan obviously doesn't.

For a kid who still has another year in TAC to go that early after such a up and down year seems a bit strange, but he is a quality player. Good luck to him.

Although he did not attend this year's Draft Camp - he went to the state-based screening -Edwards is set to be claimed in this year's draft. Carlton is one club with a keen interest, as is Melbourne and Adelaide. A tall forward, Edwards played for Victoria against The Allies during grand final week in September. He has good leg speed and is good overhead. This is set to be Carlton's final selection in this year's draft, as it will pass on No.64, as it looks to draft former Brisbane Lions ruckman Dylan McLaren in the pre-season draft - Matt Burgan

Good Luck to Jake Edwards today his such top bloke i have never seen anyone as dedicated to footy. Deserves all the best with his footy career!

i'm glad to see that many of you out there think the same as me! its not all about talent these days
It is once you start to hit AFL ranks...The less talented kids basically become a bunch of free range chickens running around in a yard,,,One or two might get taken if the club feels they need depth...
its take alot to become a star footballer and the TAC CUP is all about bringing out the best in every one of its players no matter what the club or region. Its nice to see so many in support of the jets as these players cop alot for playing in a "non performing" side. Its not a nice feeling for some of the guys having to go to school and having people say that they apart of a crap performing team. I was happy to see they gave it a red hot crack on the weekend and i'm looking forward to see what they can do against power on saturday.

This is an article recently posted on the Western Jets Website
The Western Jets were delighted to see Jake Edwards become the club’s latest draftee.

Jake was rewarded for his work ethic and outstanding leadership when Carlton selected him at Pick 36 in the National Draft held on Saturday (26th November).

After a promising under 16 year that saw him represent Vic Metro and play in a handful of TAC Cup games in 2004, Jake began the 2005 season playing as a tall forward. He kept working hard on the training track and a switch to full back saw him run into some fantastic form where he provided the Jets with a solid defensive option as well as providing plenty of run out of the backline. He finished the season off playing in the forward line and impressed enough to represent Victoria against The Allies in Grand Final week.

A tall and athletic player with outstanding leg speed for someone of his height, Jake was a great leader around the club and a very coachable player. Hailing from Melton, his dedication and application were exemplary on the training track and on the field. Also assisting Jake’s development was his involvement in the Essendon-Keilor College VET Football program. The Western Jets congratulate Jake on his achievement and wish him all the best on his AFL career.

His drafting is a testament to where hard work and dedication can get you.

Just saw the story on the TV.

Plenty of you blokes speak very highly of him, will be a big loss from the Jets side next year though. Hopefully some of the blokes that are down there in 2006 are motivated to work even harder and make sacrifices to get themselves in the same position in 12 months time.

As for the recruiting guru I call 'beanie', I think you did well :D

Now Jake Edwards has been drafter I wonder what everyones thoughts are on who is going to claim the role of Captain. Id have a stab that either Cameron Lockwood or Nathan Lyons will step up.... what does everyone else think?
