Western Jets vs Northern Knights

Northern's side looks the goods. Only a couple of players missing through injury, but besides that, they should take home the 4 points.

Knights destroyed the Jets today by 10 goals out at Williamstown. Final scores were Northern - 16.13.109 to the Western - 7.8.50. There were promising signs and they are looking forward to playing Gippsland this week, stand outs were probably Anderson and Varsamakis, Perry shut down Bachar Houli n killed him and Abela did a good job on Nathan Lyons. The Knights look set for a good year!

This looks like another very very long year for the Jets as usual. I hope they prove me wrong but i seriously doubt it..........

anybody else watch the game, what about any reports from some of the players that played in the game? we all know you post here on Big footy. Any dads of the players out there want to post to about the game?

I have some very very interesting information.

Not 100% but heard of a few people, including players from the jets that Mark Neeld the coach of the western jets, said to star Nathan Lyons "**** YOU, YOUR HOPELESS, IVE BEEN HOLDING MY FEELINGS ABOUT YOU THIS WHOLE PRESEASON IN I'VE TRYED TO BE NICE BUT YOUR JUST A COCKY LITTLE ****, YOU LET THE TEAM DOWN AND EVERYONE IS SICK OF YOU".

So i don't know what happening down the jets.
is this the same coach as last year??? coz i no of an incident from last year before a game that a lot of people denied happened to protect the coach and the jets $30 000 investment in him

Hey guys, was indeed at the game on a very windy day at williamstown. Not too sure if you were completely right about neeld. I did hear some comments about him telling lyons to grow up. It was a team defeat that day and it was rather harsh to just point lyons out, jenkins was a fantastic contributor. Will be interesting to see what happens on sunday against the rebals who had a win over the falcons yesterday

fists were thrown and two players had their seasons finished at that point coz of the incident. he should have gone too but i dont think it would have looked good that the coach left

There was also a time where Neeld said some pretty harsh things to Sutcliffe and Tyquin, than said sorry to them after the game. Hope he gets the sack he is there for him self and not the kids. Stick it up him Lyons.

Hello all, I'm new to these boards, I'll usually be on the Draft and Trading forum so once again Hello :thumbsu:

As the preseason for the TAC cup began, I went down and had a look at both sides, the knights were good all round and will be a good contender in the TAC cup this year, whilst the jets didn't really look like they had it all together.

On gameday,
The Northern Knights looked liked they were a much closer team there body language was far better then the jets, and they played more like a team, whilst the jets were playing more for themselves.

As i watched on i heard one of the new players ask what one of his teammates name was, which should not happen at any football level rather TAC cup.(Jets)

The Knights played well with everyone contributing to doing something good, Meredith, Varsamakis and Spiteri were good whilst for the jets
a few younger players were good names such as, Prismall, Black and Latella, Jenkins was also a star contributor for the jets.

Outlook:

Northern knights
The team looked strong and should continue to be a strong contestant in 2006, once there injured players are back in the side they should be top4

Western Jets
Another long year could be approaching the jets if they don't pull themselves together, the team should be stronger then last year but probably won't make finals.

Alot of players who didn't get choosen for preseason training or who got cut from preseason training could of and should of been part of the list of 35+ the jets have choosen.

With Bashar Houli still a bit nervous from his injuries in 2005, i think he should start to settle down in the next few weeks and really get the team lifted. Lockwood, Lyons and Black should be a strong midfield with big Will Sullivan in the ruck but time and training will only tell.

just want to know who u think should be called back to the squad that is not in the 39 players that have been picked that could improve the list.

A few kids might actually benefit if they listened to their coach instead of thinking they know best. A coach with a bit of aggro might be just what the Jets needed, hardly the most successful footy program in the country is it?

I believe Mather(Werribee), Larkin(Hoppers), Taylor(Werribee), Callea(Werribee), Knight(Spotswood), Kennady(Altona), Caufield(Hoppers), Roberts(Williamstown), Franklin(Port Colts), Magnabosco(Werribee) and Thomas(Werribee).

These players are not the best players but, surely would be equivilant with other players playing there positions at the jets.

The jets have observed some of these players over the pre-season and have choosen who they thought was benificial.

The way I see it is, give every body a chance. get all the players playing football in the area to come down, and choose the four best back pockets in the leauges, the two best full backs, four best half back flanks, two best center half back, four best wings, two best centers, two best rovers, and two ruck rovers, two-three ruckman, four half forward flanks, two center half forwards, two full forwards and four forward pockets.

that way every kid can have a chance to show what they have to offer, and a team of 44-45 could be picked that way the kids can feel like they had there chance, because a lot of kids do'nt get opportunity with there dreams.

So the players I mentioned are not the only players who should of been on the list if they had of done all the hard training over summer.[/quote

i think it about time heads rolled stop blaming players i think they should look at the likes of sexton, the batt man, hammond, and now coach time for a change is needed these guys need to get another life away from the jets who said 1 person or 3 or 4 people are not bigger then the club.

huh lol:rolleyes:

Noticed that Michael Heyne was named in the best for Western Jets.

From Orbost and played at Gippsland Power last year. Played in the practice games for Power before being taken at the Jets.

Is living and working in Melbourne and the travel for training etc was an issue.

Good to see that he hasn't been lost to the system and that the Jets have given him a go.

His harsh attitude also lead to a few of the jets top aged guns to walk out of the club mid season. Tyquin, De Sousa, Morelli and a few more. These boys were strong characters at the jets.... but i guess just didnt get along with Neeld.
