I think next year West & Glenordan have to go out of Div 1 and the winner from Div 2 to go up. If we have a bye so be it maybe a bye would be ok give a few blokes a rest

Have 2 do it Div 1 turning into joke This week for example Spotswood vs West Footscray whats the point of the game i hope the west boys give em a shake but i can't see it happening

What is the league doing about representive matches?? i would love to watch a div 1 WRFL team for me WRFL Vs RDFL or EDFL would be the perfect opposition The league has to get back Rep Matches
I would like to see Some Mock Teams here i go

Backs L.Phipps(West) ??????????? ????????????
H/Backs ???????? ??????????? ???????????
Centres Brad Murphy(Hop) ???????? ????????????
H/Forwards ????????? ??????????? ????????????? Forwards LMcghie(Spots) M.Keenan(Spots) J.PerkinsColts)
Ruck Brad Julier(Colts) R/Rover Rover C.Okeefe(Spots)
Inter D.Bonnicci(Albion) B.Jacobs(Suns) J.Butina(Albion) ?????????????

The fact that the league provides the team who wins the division 2 premiership the option to stay down has compounded the problem. Altona's decision to stay down which saw the demise of north sunshine should have been the catalyst for the league to implement the rule which does not give the premiership winning team an option to stay down. Now we are seeing the same story with deer park and west footscray. Hopefully the league has finally learnt from this and will take the necessary steps to stop it from occuring again.

Furthermore, regardless of what football league you are involved with there are always going to be teams that struggle, it's inevitable and happens in some of the more elite football codes taking into example the rabbitoh's for years in the NRL and richmond in the AFL who are going to be paying a heavy price with the introduction of gold coast and west sydney. Sure the west footscray and spotswood game is pointless and the result is a formality but the same will be said when richmond face upto a geelong or a st.kilda.

West footscray have also not done themselves any favours over the past couple of years, and looking from the outside in appear to have made some decisions which have led to their current predicament in terms of on field performance. This includes the decision to spend big dollars to aquire the services of liberatore, which could have been better spent going out and recruiting young talent.

Finally, I believe the league needs to be careful not to succumb to criticism about the gap between the top sides and the bottom sides and not make drastic changes to the structure of the competition. Like I said before this is not a situation that is unique to the WRFL. Enough said, looking forward to round three, looks like there should be a couple of crackers with Altona and St.albans showing us if Altona really have made a massive improvement as we can't read much into their first two matches. Albion and hoppers should also be an interesting one.

My tips

Altona 24 points over st.albans
hoppers 30 points over albion
spotswood over west footscray
port colts by 80 over glenorden
A little biased >Heights to take their first big sculp in division 1, 2 points over sunshine

If the wrfl played edfl it would be just like watching spotty v west foots the wrfl wont be around in another 5 yrs

Anyone have a wrap up of the game between hoppers & sunshine on the weekend?
I'll give you my (biased) wrap up.
Close all day, wind favouring one end. Hoppers kicked away in the last 5 minutes. Sunshine couldnt use the wind to thier advantage but played well against it. Hoppers were good but I think our guys poor disposal and decision making handed the game to Hoppers i.e we should have been in control of the match. The big fella Mitchell kicked a few long goals which hurt us as well. Plenty to work on for Brett and the boys. Plenty of good signs for the season.

I reckon we may have beaten them there many years ago but that was our first win against them in at least 6 or 7 years. Would have been good to beat them with the old crew still playing there.

Heights could count all there wins in A GRADE on one hand it wouldnt be hard every win for them is a big win

they have taken there side to div one kept it together and done bloody well. If they were the worst side in the comp, the comp would be doing ALOT better than it currently is

Was there a point in this comment? Sarcasm? lame attempt at satire? Yeh we have only had 5 wins in A grade thankyou for stating a fact, I thought all wins were a good win for any team.

hard to imagine where all those 4000 plus juniors are going to go????
I know it has been mentioned on here previously, but has the VCFL ever seriously looked into the notion of the Metro SuperLeague? There would be some cracking contests.

And to those people picking what might be there Interleague sides.....if Lachie McGhie isn't your first ruck then stop and start again....has clearly had the better of Julier their last few contests and is in career best form....perhaps even League Medal form.

good to see he has another fan, by far the best big man for past 2 years.

The EDFL is a stronger comp no doubt but Wrfl top 22 against their top 22 should provide a good contest.

In all due respect Rooster while the best 22 from WRFL may form a very strong side, they would not get within 15 goals against EDFL's best 22.

Thanks for that, now if you would like to start a thread regarding this discussion then do so and stop clogging up our WRFL div 1 thread. EDFL V's WRFL has been done to death:thumbsu:.

You wouldn't get any change out of 20 goals the standard in the wrfl has fallen away big time theres blokes running around now playing 1's that wouldn't get a game in the 2's 5-10 years ago.The wrfl imo sorry to say is PATHETIC
