For more information regarding the side, registering and training details, please do not hesitate in contacting:

Also go to: www.lavertonmagpies.com.au
or email: jm@healthbydesign.com.au

Players of all abilities are most welcome.

Training currently is Monday and Wednesdays at the club from 6pm.

If not with hoppers then I don't think he will be playing at all, he signed a contract at the end of last year. i believe it is alot harder to get out of contract now days, so yeah i think he will be playing at Hoppers.

Now you have opened up a discrepency in all this. If a player signs an initial 2 year contract (as i believe happened with the Spotty players and even Hoppers players the year before) then the club can hold them to it. If they sign a new contract at the end of the season, there may be grounds to get out of it.... not sure though (Yarraville Seddon scenario of 2008, 26 contracted players but all cleared even though they signed at end of season) but if APW has paid money on the players saying they are not contracted and they are, it is the individual players who are at fault.
I am not sure how legal any of the contracts are anymore, as it was once the case that if both parties sign a contract, and it is witnessed then no matter what is said it can be binding. The WRFL did make changes to this saying all contracts must be their version not the clubs own a couple of years ago, but that doesn't mean that AFL Vic doesn't have a different contract to this in play.

Any news from down colts way? Has a coach been formerly appointed or is there a person that the faithful would like to see put in the role?

I heard Brad Julier was taking training? Might be the new coach.

Also heard of a few rumblings down Hoppers way with Ezard. Gets out of car at 5:59pm, takes training, quickly scurries to car and departs. Any truth to this Danny?

Peter Lunt has been appointed as our snr coach for 2010. Most people around the club would know Peter as he was assistant to Jason Clarke last year. We are very happy to have Pete on board again this year.
The club also announces our new President in Kevin "Skippy" Breen. Vice President: Gary Booth.

I was actually told his brother was the coach, oh well.
Peter coached my cousin at Willie jnrs, goes ok but more suited to jnrs than the pressure of senior footy, can be a bit loose when things get a litte heated. Colts still have a solid list so will be top 3.
The word is he will only be in the job for a year with julier a moral to take the reins.
Just curious were did Peter Lunt play footy.

Played for a long time with Sth Districts in the old South East Suburban League /SFL.From memory i think he coached their reserves for a couple of the years as well.Think he also might have returned to the Colts for a season and maybe a year in the bush as he left Districts and then returned but that was a long time ago so dont quote me.Districts were pretty strong back in those days and he was no gun but a pretty handy player all the same.Just as a matter of interest what do you mean by loose when things get a little heated ? Also where did the Word come from that Julier will take over after a year ? From what i have been told by a few of the boys Lunt walked out during the Jack Love saga and a group of senior players asked the committee to appoint him.A couple of very good players might have been heading your way i am told if he wasnt offered the job. From what i am told Julier wasnt keen on the job and i was told last night at the Clare he is a playing assistant coach. Can be assured of one thing Lunt will keep opposition coaches honest including your own coach who is a first time senior coach isnt he ?

Well nice to meet you mr.lunt, no friend would even remember this much about a career, so your definately the new coach.
I was actually told senior players wanted clarke back and it was he that recomended for you to be appointed because a few senior players were not overly enthusiastic about you getting the job, apparenttly still not convinced. Let's be honest though your a very lucky man to even have the job. If it was an open interview for all to apply again you would not be the chosen one. The coach saga has played into your hands, so good luck. There are few people out there that think you will do a good job though. Just sad you will not be reappointed, i'm sure of it!!

Barking up the wrong tree there old son :DHave been a family friend of the Lunt family for near on 35 years so would have some recollection of him you would think especially playing at both Districts and Colts myself.I am getting on but dementia not a problem just yet.Had a look at the Colts Website after GBF50 announced it on here and noticed Peter's mobile on there, why dont you give him a call and let him know of his impending demise, how he got appointed and what you think of his coaching credentials.Go on Mr Bigmouth Yellowbelly.Knowing him he would probably love to hear from you.

I'm also very hopefull that sunshine does very well under one of my best mates tuition in mr Jacobs....was very close to joining him over the last few weeks also as ass coach, but i'm sure he will do very very well.
We both shared alot of great times together as coach/captain and great mates and i look fwd to watch his success.. Go eagles

To Cinderella Man,Footy Doctor,a couple at the Colts,a couple at the wharf and maybe some at another WRFL club not worth mentioning.A group of sniping shallow individuals of which i am pretty sure some of this shit has emminated.

Cinderella Man- You say you have been a family friend for 35 years and you well could be as my family have lived in Port long before i was born and always have had a connection with the Colts and the community on a sport and social level especially through my brothers and late father.Mate thanks for your support and loyalty but this is not the first time i have been accused of being you and to be quite honest it is starting to wear a bit thin.I can speak fo myself and have no trouble backing it up.

Footy Doctor and others- As a pretty black and white person I am fairly transparent and have no problem excepting or telling the truth.Something i will be as a coach, something that has probably been lacking at the Colts on field the last few years and something that might have cost them the ultimate. If it offends so be it.

I am fully aware of how my appointment come about and the circumstances that surrounded it.I am at ease with all of it.As i said i dont mind talking or hearing the truth so here it is.

During last season and also at the end of the season i was asked if i was interested in the senior coaching job. Both times i declined out of loyalty to J.Clarke and also the belief a coach with his record and service given shouldnt be replaced.I did tell someone from the club and Clarkey that maybe if and only if that if they could find a high quality profile replacement that could possibly take them in a new direction that might get the success the club deserved that it might be a good thing. After i declined the club contacted me and asked me if i would stay on as an assistant to the new coach yet to be determined.I said that it was not an ideal situation as the new coach should pick his own assistant.I was told that the new coach would be told i was part of the deal and that was that.Clarkey rang me and told me he had to reapply for his job and asked me to apply with him as co coaches.Even though i knew we would not be appointed i was prepared to take a punt and apply with Jason if it meant a remote chance of him keeping the job he deserved.Jack Love was appointed and immeadiately asked me to be his assistant.Surprise Surprise !!! Although i knew the uncertainty of Jacks appointment i excepted because of my passion for the game and the enjoyment of being involved in a senior footy club after a long break before i returned last year.

Over the preseason i become increasingly frustrated at the way things were going and told Clarkey about half a dozen times i was giving it away. The week i decided i was going to tell Jack i was out he had to stand down and i wasnt going to let them down so took training. The club had a meeting about prospective replacements to which i was not privy.I found out i was mentioned and a couple of more senior players said they didnt know if i was the right person for the job. That was fine i just wanted to see the club turning in the right direction.I had a meting with the acting president the night after and felt more uncertinty about what was going on so i resigned. The next morning i was called offering me the job after the majority of the playing group wanted me appointed. So you see i am fully aware of what went down but the talk of players ringing Clarkey and pleading with him to comeback is totally the opposite of what the more seniors members of the group have told me.As far as the suggestion i am in the job for 1 year and Brad Julier will take over i would ask you Footy Doctor as you are so well informed, why didnt Brad take the job when offered ? Could it be because of the uncertainty after what has taken place or the departure of quality playing stocks that were promised to be replaced and havent been or could it be the late stage of preseason when it is near on impossible to recruit quality players that would arrest a possible slide ? Can you or your Pissant mates enlighten me on that ?

So regardless if my tenure is 1,3 or 5 years i had the character to say YES.I will coach and put my head on the chopping block and put up with weak sniping pricks like you and your mates but i can tell you i will not flinch once in my resolve to achieve the best possible results for the club and those who have shown faith in me.There is an old saying."Loose lips sink ships".Hope this doesent come back to bite you on the arse because if you actually belong to the club you say you do the new coach will be thrilled with your gobbing off.Make sure when your club plays the Colts you come up and introduce yourself and give me an appraisal of my coaching abilities in person.

Yes you were very very loyal to me mate, i'm also glad that you got the job and have an oppotunity to coach in your own right. I'm sure you will do very well, so don't worry what any of the ferals on bf say, just keep that think skin about you.
Maybe they are just a little worried about the colts being settled now and will be a threat again??

One of the better posts i have read throughout different leagues. Good luck Pete. One question though because i'm a tad bemused. In your post you mention B. Julier and not long after that you say YOU have the character to put your head on the chopping block and say YES to coach, when B. Julier said no. Should we, the B/F public read anything into that?
Also reading other posts, i think your also on the money with FOOTY DOCTOR. He maybe a tad closer to colts than at the yellabellies. Again all the best.:thumbsu:

Absolute quality and honest post mate. I hold a great opinion of the colts and I am sure the people that matter and also the past players of the club will be stoked that there is a man like yourself at the helm to tell it the way it is and hopefully take the colts to the next step. (No disrespect at all intended there to clarkey) You know what wolfgang west.....it is a hard call from what you said in your post to say YES but you obviously have the best interest of the club in mind and with that you cannot ever go wrong. There are alot of people in local footy and particularly wrfl that believe they have the right to make comment and pass judgment on people who are giving there all and it drives me up the wall but you know what majority of those sh1ttalkers will never put their hand up and would never say YES....I have had many a w***er pass judgment on me and tell me how I should be doin things at the vales (diff situation and div2 i know but we are in a very better place now than 2 years ago and many a hard call had to be made about our club and personell ijn which I did)but when i follow up their critisism with 'ok no worries how would I do it better, and why dont you give up your time and come and impliment your ideas" and low and behold not too many can back it up.
I would reckon you would get a bit of that (along with all coaches) so what I am trying to say is stay true to your believes and remember you said yes.
anyway have a great season mate and I will definetly come and shake ya hand if I get a chance.

PM me if you would like a few phone numbers of very good players yet to sign at clubs :D:D:)

None taken, there will always be weak pri cks that pot people that have a go weather it's coaching, playing or helping. These weak individuals would never ever know what it's like to have a go in a challenging situation. Colts are in good hands and all the players are behind the new coach.
With Peter's knowledge and ability with the young blokes i have little doubt that colts will be up there again and me more than anyone hopes they go that next step. 2 wins from the last 5 gf is not a great result and the core group of players deserve better.

True that Evo and it takes a failry humble coach to invite people into the inner sanctum to give advice and help act on it. My question is...How many coaches would really take the advice on board and even implement some of the changes? Not many. In that case, people will keep taking pot shots and coaches will continue to get p!ssed off every time someone questions their ability. Waste of time inviting input from the critics because in the end, they won't give it and the coaches really don't want it.

Any reason why cinderallaman used to post in the u/18's when you coached, so if not you someone you know.
To be honest i don't care there is no law against it, knock yourself out.
Good luck for the year i explained to you in PM what i was meaning, take it how ever you like.
RELAX and i'm sure you will be a success and congrats on the 2 yr contract.
