i was at the parkside v laverton game saturday and thought parkside were underdone but they had some good signs the short bloke with the stumpy legs (number 28 i think) played well and kicked a few early, number 8 also played well but should have had more of a run in the centre

Krueger, storey, tyrrell, muratore, vincent, lika and dont forget Mansbridge...
So i struggle to see how they had a fair few blokes out.. unless if they were middle or bottom tier players...

Laverton had paone(bnf 2010) and rob smith out, a couple of middle tier players, and 3 on the bench from half way through the first quarter..

Apperently PS coach said on radio that kenna was playing loose man in defence, well the footage on Youtube suggests otherwise.

Seems some people try and find excuses.. The real excuse was Laverton was better than Parkside.

The youtube footage certainly suggests otherwise seeing as Kennedy contested every single center bounce in that quarter!
Even if he was playing loose man in defense, surely the parkside coach would have been able to come up with something to combat it? Tell your players not to kick it straight to him? Send someone back there to man him up and make him accountable? Organise it so one of your better skilled players is your free man so he can do some damage the other way? Sounds like the bloke was just upset he was out coached by the Lavo coach!

Great to see the intense interest in the Laverton Magpies FC since Saturday's win against Parkside and the more positive stuff to be posted about our club the better as we are emerging as a very good family, local community and all round football club.

We have made some significant changes both on and off the field over the past few years and Saturday encompassed all of what we have been trying to do to realise that with belief, passion and a supportive and positive culture and environment will result in some very good things.

We are not getting carried away as the season is a long one but we have chalked up a win we didn't expect, whilst we of course hoped for, we now have 4 more points in the bag than we though we would have and for us that is exciting. Now we are extremely focussed on Caroline Springs at home this week!

We blooded 4 under 18 players from last season whom were tremendous and we have a few more players to come back so competitiveness for spots is high and will continue to grow... All I care about at this stage is that our whole playing list can see what we are capable of if we are prepared to work for each other, to believe in each other and stick to our game plan and team rules and that we now go up another gear at training this week and each and every week moving forward and if we do we will win more games than we lose.

If we play to our potential then anything is possible!

The Laverton FC are a great club and if any aspiring ruckman is out there not getting an opportunity at whatever club you are at and reading this, there is plenty of time to come and join us and help me free up Michael Kennedy from ruck duties (or at least share them)....

Go Lavo!

Well done Justin on the win, it is good to see the club going from strength to strength both on and off the field. It is good to see you acknowledge the work over the last few years as rome wasn't built in a day. You have a good committee in place now and hopefully the right support mechanism's in place to take the next step.

Hopefully you can get a few more of the blokes going and it would be good see the likes of Paone & Driver playing in the ones real soon as they will make a massive difference and again add additional leg speed.

On another front, have you looked at convincing Micka Lindsey into staying at Laverton? He is a fantastice footballer who just needs mentoring on and off the field. I think the club has a lot of potential and keeping with the locals and the youth is something to be excited by and proud of.

Well Done and keep up the good work magpies.

Would be doubting that Micka Lindsey would want to leave Albanvale. He has slotted in really well, and he is now working for a couple of the players who got him a job.

Has had a big pre season and is ready to go once his suspension finishes, ironically for round 6 V Laverton.

On a side note, congrats on the big win on weekend :thumbsu:

New Mayor of Caroline Springs - Gary Smackers Turner.
The man is a marvel.
The Springers will smash Lavo this week and watch out Deer Park next round.

parkside zip and 2......after this week.......big day planned down 3023 way.......

who cares about the (jerry) springers.......rockbank (RAMS) knocked yous off........hahahaha

Thanks Scott for the positive words and feedback and it is very rewarding for all of the people around the club that have had all sorts of levels of input into helping us move forward, from Bobby on the BBQ every Saturday, through to the other helpers that put in and do their part... Seeing them on Saturday reap the rewards of all of the hard work was fantastic.

Steve and Aaron will be back in the senior mix sooner rather than later and yes will add some more speed and footy brains to the squad!

As for Michael Lindsey... The word 'convince' is one I am not a fan of... He elected/chose to pursue his football at Albanvale this season and we as a club wish him well. We have made no bones about the fact that we seek and want only players at the Laverton that not only want to be at our club, but also are willing to give something back to their club as well as embrace our collective expectations as a coaching group and the culture of the club. We can only outline and inform all players of what we require from them, what we want from them and then they must be enthused and want to be a part of that. If for whatever reason they do not fit in with that or they choose to leave for whatever reason, we are not there to 'convince' anyone to stay... Michael may choose to come back to the club in the future, but ultimately that sits with him.

His mates are at Laverton, his job and money to play footy are at (or aligned with) Albanvale (and so is his contract for 2011)...

I and we will continue to reward the exciting youth that we have at Laverton - if they put in the work and stick with our team rules and expectations and at the moment they are doing so and thriving and those missing (from the senior side or even the reserves) are and will need to get on board with the rest to get their opportunities....

Once again and 1 game down the only players we have lost from last season have been - Wallace (games in seniors in 2010- <9) , Lindsey (6-7), Hansen (6-7), Chan (<8). That is a very small turnover and I would be surprised if many other clubs could boast losing so few players...

Josh Lambert will be heading overseas after round 3 (incidentally he played a fantastic game on Saturday as FB and the best I have seen from him in my time at the club).

Go Lavo!

Hold up there champaa!!! dont get too carried away here ok... Dont under estimate the BBF!!!! The Bounce Back Factor! i can tell you right now that Parkers are seithing after a very disapointing loss against Lavo

Parkside will get a few back and will be very hard to beat this week despite the Fact that Deer ( dreamTeam$$$$$ ) Park have assembled a dream team!!!

Footy is a funny game my man :)

and BTW i am not a player of parkside... i am a spectator that loves the "Local Footy" game

Great site this, can people give us something about the other clubs in the league?
Like why were Robbo and Summers in the DP 2's?
How are West Footscray looking?
Have Nth Sunshine improved?
What is happening at Braybrook?
How many Nth Footscray guys are going to be looking at coming to Div 2 clubs early on in their season when it gets tough in Div 1?

Luke Summers did not play in the twos. He did not play at all last week. Chris Robbo played in the twos coz there is not a spot for him yet in the ones. He and about 10 Senior players from the last two years were playing twos.

couple good pracyy matches against similiar opposition and a couple of good interclub matches.
very good turn out on tuesday with 25 seniors and 25 reserve players on the track which makes for a good hit out this week.
