Wyndamvale to keep improving and Albanvales recruits still to gel. Wyn by 2-3goals.

Deer Park to outclass Braybrook but only few goals. Not the blowout most would expect.

North Foots to take care of Laverton. North remain a consistent side and Laverton need to show some consistency this year. North by 5-6 goals.

Coburg smash North - 150points +

Cain (with the help of Yarra ville players) to beat Parkside byt 4 goals. Speed and skill of onballers will give Cain plenty of opportunity infront of goals and he will prob kick 4 or 5. (tell us 8 on bigfooty :) ) Parkside need to bring on some young onballers with pace as exposed them last year in grandfinal.

Hope all have a great first match and Coburg enjoys their one week on top of the ladder :)

Albanvale by 6 goals over Wyndhamvale. Is Angwin playing? Probably not..
Devils by 4 goals over Lavo. Tough to beat at home.
Coburg Districts by 100+ over NS
Deer Park by 10 goals over Braybrook.
Parkside to beat Yarraville by 6 goals.

Albanvale in a close game over improving w'vale. Interesting to see some of the big name recruits out for both sides. Keen to see how big scalzo goes for the vales coming back from div 1.

Districts by 40 points over NS. Heard nothing positive from my man down at districts, and another year of battling appears to be on the cards. Positive is north sunshine are worse than ever. Upsetting to see troy stone leave.

North foots over lavo by 8 goals. North too tall, too strong. kennedy zerafa young leaving will expose lavo for height, mobility and size at the contest. North will run them off their legs and the big boys of North wont get any smaller as the day goes on.

Deer park by 5 goals over braybrook. Braybrook full of confidence after beating a Div 1 club last week. 5 minutes into the game, gilman will have reminded them 40 times it was only west footscray and dp will run over them despite some key losses.

Parkside and Yarraville, in the match of the round. Parkside by 3 goals. 4 or 5 players didnt take parkside through a season undefeated, and big patty davis in the square is still big patty davis in the square.

Comp medal- Robbo from north footscray
Leading goal kicker- Davis from Parkside
Premiers- Albanvale
Overachievers- W'vale to shock everyone and play finals this year.

Hahahaha a team that lost to braybrook, and wyndhamvale.... that couldnt make finals and you think yarraville will win the flag....... they would wanna have picked up 25 cains with the extras running water to win the flag..... but i guess tommorrow will show were that at......

Coburg will have to smash north shunshine....
Deer park should account for braybrook quite easily.... and it will highlight how weak dp are after braybrook beat west footscray at full strength a few weeks ago. Im guessing every team hopes to play dp in the gf this year cause dp will prob forfiet to avoid going up......
north to get over the line against lavo running away in the last quarter
parkside to beat yarraville without much effort
the game between the vales will be interesting... Rumors galore that albanvale have picked up quality players from edfl though had no game plan or direction the other week and wyndham picking up quality players to.... will tell whether albanvale are premierships contenders & wyndhamvale final contenders.....

Ladder...

Just thought i'd throw my two bobs in.
WE (airport west) played both parkside and albanvale in praccy games, although i know you can't read to much into them, although in my opinion parks are a much better team than albanvale, we beat both isdes convincingly but we pretty much played with a reserves team against albanvale and it was at their ground. An albanvale player told me they were close to full strength not sure how true. Parks on the other hand had a few missing while we were pretty much full strength.....as i said maybe we can't read to much into it but what i have to go on parks are ahead of them.......Good luck to all for season 2010!!

Your right Rock07 you cant read too much into it. Albanvale were not near full strength, they had 7 or 8 out. Also played a 17 year old kid on AW so called gun full forward :thumbsu:

Deer park over Braybrook by 5 -6 goals. Boofaaa, I find it amusing that you think DP need a wake up call!! DP worked hard last season to come from fourth, win every game and then take out an undefeated side to take out the granny. Perhaps you should cut them some slack, recognise some good footy when you see it and enjoy a new season of footy which will be full of challenges for every team.

Yes, DP lost a couple of good players but have also gained some. Most key players have stayed with DP and some would say DP have a better side this year than last!!

Going to be a great new season of footy.

And remember: Your only as good as your last game!!!

Good Luck Everyone. Let the Games Begin!

North Footscray beat Lavo by about 85 points. Think Lavo shaded the 2nd half on the scoreboard. Dismal first half.

Just listening to the radio...CD 257 to 20 over NS. Coach from the NS coach stated, "We didn't have too bad of a day". lol

Parkside 104 to Yarraville 60.

Red Devil, no credit is owed to lavo for their second half today. I'm fairly sure the devils took their foot off the gas at half time.
toyed with lavo for 99% of the first half, where they built a 16 goal to 3 lead or something like that.

Cant read too much into it cos lavo were horrible, but north look like they will be in for a big season. always there abouts, and far too classy for lav. a few fights during the game made it an ok watch but one team far too good.

richo for north dominated, about 200 uncontested possies.

if the word is correct d/p had 13 players out for todays game v braybrook i can name about 8 off the top of my head with a few newbies not cleared yet......still won by 90 odd points jnr harro(last years bog in the granny) had a day out.......he is a vfl listed player and will be available for d/p when not picked at werribee......handy inclusion......buttergieg-clarke gee the young fella can play kicked a lazy ten quite easily could have been 15 or 16........young blokes to me stood out with the older blokes being rested/showered by 3 1/4 time......36,5(not skinny)3,9 were d/p best...imo

braybrook well....they had a crack and only if they listened to their coaches instruction......24....jnr lane no 7 i think....and 9 stood out for the brookers......45 scoring shots to 18 tells me the score should have been 130 140 plus......

Nth all over us today....credit were credit is due.... they made an embarassment of us...... doesnt help when are own supporters put us down..... they obviously have short memories....

Nth up and running and have lots of outside players waiting for the easy ball.... but far to good for us.... although nth killed us by 80 odd last year and we bounced back.... but nth def premiership contenders.....

hahahahah gee lavo supporters bagging their own.........classic!!!! nothing unusuall after a couple of woodstocks.......

Watched two halves of footy today, one Lavo v Nth and Altona V Glenorden. Massive/ Massive difference. Lavo have a shit load of work to do to even be competitive, but on Nth seriously Lavo made them look good. If you were there you would know what I mean. what a shit standard of football. Watched the second half of a DIV 1 Game and the losers would have smashed Nth easy( and they got beat by 20 goals). Masswive difference between the two comps and until today I didnt realise how big the difference was,

Average wiining Margin today in Div = 107.4 points and in Div 2 = 98 points. OMG

The wrfl division 1 & 2 is like the EPl soccer the teams that have the coin dominate every year and the bottom clubs struggle every year looking at the results today in both divisions some clubs may as well pack it in now something needs to be done 2 bring back a bit off excitement and evenness into games i think deep down we all know who will play finals this year in both divisions and thats a sad sight even this early in the year:mad:local footy is boring to watch now

Agreed, now you have put the question forward what is the answer. The money arguement has been shot out the window look at the Albion Sunshine score.
Altona seem to be reaping the rewards of a strong investment in juniors and I am talking under 9 up not just 18's. The kids were absolutely awsome today.

gee whizz not arguing with your point but hey its only round 1.......i would give it till about round 10 till everyone plays each other maybe then your comments will change........

in all seriousnes like other people have stated there will be 7 or 8 teams in div 2 vying for a finals spot.......

I agree Panther....North didn't have to do much to look good today in the first half. Not sure what happened to Lavo, it was very strange.

I also agree in the gap between the divisions, but that is the same with most leagues. However, give us a spell on Altona V Orden. The gap between the lower teams in div1 and the better teams in div2 is not massive. Orden have lost their ten best players, so Altona should have pumped them! I appreciate you always look for an oppurtunity to pump up the Vikings, but some balance would be nice...

I saw them in a practice match a couple of weeks ago and they have some fantastic young players (as they should) but most years it comes to nothing. Hopefully for them they can improve, because anything other than making the finals would be...well the same as every other year.

Bit like the Devils really....haven't achieved much for years, so Panther you never know! Hopefully this is a good year for both clubs!:thumbsu:

So Weapons you are saying that DP had 13 players missing from their best side? Madigan said on the radio that you have picked up 3 new players and were hoping to sign a couple more from Canterbury.

I dont think the gap betwen the two divisions is too great...i do agree however that clubs should be putting more time into their juniors of all age levels as this is a much more viable way of sustaining a club, we have been working our butts off at this for the last 2 years and we will continue to do so with added development programs between senior group mixing with junior group for years to come. Money is not everything in local footy ...thgere is still some loyalty and also friendships that are worsth something that dont cost a club a cent. only my opinion tho boys.

on our game today with albanvale.....well.......i hate losing thats number one......but i thought it was a very good game to play in and hopefully to watch. both sides were very hard at it with a few scuffles (always expected after a summer full of bloody cricket hahaha) and the ball moved pretty quickly for both teams....i think pie eater would agree that it was prob 15 min in 3rd quarter that broke the game open with albanvale kicking 4 or 5 goals i think that we just could not make back up.

I think albanvale will be there abouts this year but obviously need to see other teams to fully comment. they are a big bodied side that did seem to move the ball and link up well...

on us the vales...well like i said i hate to loose but it was good to get the first one away and are certainly disappointed with the result. we will have a big week on the track, work on where we think we went wrong and our focus is fully shifted now to lavo next saturday......... any extra info on lavo would be advantageous.....

also great to have a chat to pie eater after the game...top bloke and will definatly buy u a beer in the return leg...

I watched a fair bit of the North vs Lavo game and I dont think Nth looook superb i think lavo made them looook like that!

But Nth do have a very goood midfield and backline!..
Evo u will defintely have to loook out for lavo's midfield next weeek im sure devil will agree they dont have any big names in there but they are very goood footballers and get a nice amount of clearances and do know how to use the foooty!..

After seeeing this game Richardson defintely favourite for the league B&F played a goood game was consistent had probably 30 p's and does know how to use the foooty..

From where i was standin behind the fence it was a little dissapointing hearin the laverton fans bagging there own!

Hard tough game of footy yesterday. I think it is a credit to Evo and Luke on what they have done with their football club over the past 18 months.

2 years ago they were a rable, now they are professional , well structured , young , quick and have a few bigger bodies and they are a definate threat each week. Based on what i saw yesterday they will be around the the mark of that 4-7 spot. If they stay injury free i would except them to play finals.

On Albanvale i was very proud of our guys after half time. Probably were not at our best in first half, and then in the 3rd quarter we lost 2 guys with yellow cards and were down to 16 and had about 4 or 5 guys cramping trying to get off the ground. And as evo said kick 5 goals to zip in 15 minutes to open the game up. The longer the game went the better we got.

Slighlty dissapointed withe the fact we had 36 scoring shots to 16 and only got up by 35 points, but a win is a win and we now set our sights on Parkside next week which presents another challenge.

Like Weapons said i think you will have to be on your game each week as there are 7 or 8 sides probably good enough to make the 5 and if if you are off by 5% you will get beaten.

Good to have the 2010 underway :thumbsu:

Seems to be a few guys saying the same thing about bagging our own, curious as to which part of the ground it was coming from

There was certainly some of it coming from the drunk muppet (the father of a bloke who most people think should be a senior footballer but was running around in the 2's on the weekend because of his poor attitude to training and to the club in general) who walked up to the playing group when the coach was attempting to address us after the game. The word disgrace was used 4 or 5 times. I don't care if that bloke has been around the club 25 or whatever years as he told us, thats the sort of support we don't need. Sure we got pumped, and no doubt the first half wasnt acceptable, but our side is predominantly made up of kids, and we're trying to rebuild after losing 4 or 5 very good division 2 footballers.

I don't think those comments were about all laverton supporters. I did notice you were probably the only person giving the boys a clap off the ground after the game. Things didn't go the boys way but I think most of the boys put in and just weren't up to it on the day against a very well drilled North Footscray.
