Hmm after reading all comments about the Laverton Magpies i was really starting to get excited about a possible return to good footy from the club...Then from what i was told yesterday i am not so sure. If someone can confirm the following it would be great, Apparantly in round 1 thier was an off the ball (behind play) incident that has left a North Footscray player with serious facial injuries, caused by one of the Lavo players?? if this is true would this not confirm the RABBLE tagline?

i witnessed an incident in the last quarter where a NF player, on tackling a LM player, all 5ft 7 of him, ran thru with elbow raised and collected the kid squarely on the chin, ( 2-4 weeks, but got yellow card), in retaliation a WM player, chased him , wrestled him to ground and gave him 5 or 6 good blows to the head, if this is the incident you are referring to, well i need say no more!!!

Is this the Divi 2 thread or the Lavo thread?

Corey just ignore these blokes bagging you, we all know your down at Lavo cause your not a stiff like most the people at Albion.

An interesting start to the season with a few suprises but all in all probally going to be a more even season with 5 clubs with genuine claims at a premiership.

On our game Yarraville played ok but still have a lot of work to do to bridge the gap on the likes of Parkside, Albanvale, Deer Park, Nth Footscray and you can also throw in the up and coming Vales into the mix and maybe even Coburg.

Braybrook where a little dissapionting and i think they have dropped of a bit on last years form but are still a side that on there day could cause and upset or two.

Deer Park seem to be flying and Albanvale would be dissapionted in there narrow loss to Parkside who have lost quite a few players but will still be a hard side to beat this season.

On Yarra we have picked up some good footballers and will need a little time to gel together but anything less than a top 4 finish would be a major dissapiontment with the list that has been put together in 2010.

Sadly Lavo, Braybrook and Nth Sunshine seasons are already looking like there already over even this early into the season.

Ease up there Cain, theres still a whole year of football 2 b played yet and we (Laverton) are certainly not going down without a fight! :thumbsu:

ok cain, or should i say dennis? mate, its round 3.... when i played d1 as a kid at yarra back in the frosty era, and i believe your prime, lol, people were saying the same thing about us when i thought we were great... so yuo cant go writting anyone off, and making assumptions. tip' expectations only lead to disapointment! yeah there are a couple dominate teams... just like div 1. and yeah teams/lists allways look great in ink and magnets, but at the end of the day, its whos prepared to do the right things on and off the park, and work the hardest. id rather a champion team over a team of champions anyday. the back half of the season/business end, is when we should be making predictions and comments on players and team form. btw, heard you are doing great things down there at willy rd, they really do deserve it.

Don't worry about this bloke Corza, there are plenty of people sorry to see you leave Albion, you a great bloke and and did shitloads at the club, theres still Junior kids asking about you, do us a favour and drop in for a beer somtime

Cheers shitman, (jeffq) i know mate, sad to have had to make the choice, and definately will drop in for a beer or ten without a doubt, as long as you shout, cos im broke. send my best wishes to all the boys, and all my good friends, supporters and juniors down there at the cattery. might make a cameo apearence one wednesday night for the juniors! haha. thanks mate. take care :thumbsu:

can anyone from Laverton confirm that gun forward Matty Zurek has signed with Albanvale. Seen him play and rate him highly. In a good side to deliver him the ball could kick bags each week.
Massive gain for Albanvale massive loss for Laverton

Any truth?

he hasnt played and i think has only been 2 training once or twice but theres no clearance that i know of mate...

hey cain all reports say u did very well last week to kick ur 8 considering you had 3 blokes hanging off you for half the afternoon....if so good job.
looking forward to the challenge of yarra on saturday as I am sure u guys are too.
Also looking forward to hanging around for a few beers after the game and taking advantage of the yarra boys HAPPY HOUR and visual entertainment after the game....lol will be good to see and have a beer with you boys and also some of the old vales boys tarra have playin for them.

Good luck saturday cain hope u play well but without kicking any hahahahaha....

and tiptopthommo yeah that was me in forward line last week but i still a long way off bein any good....just trying to get fit again...i tell ya the game has certainly got a fair bit quicker since i last played a few years ago.....(or maybe I have got alot slower lol). Lavo will only get better and with all their kids in the team they just need some time and footy guidence which I am sure Moran is right on top of. i expect them to be around the mark by end of the year.

I heard the same thing tonight off one on the Albanvale players regarding Zurek along with maybe a x player back. Maybe karim13 can fill us in ?

Thats the right attitude to have so good on you for having that mind set. But realisticly any side that is 0-2 is going to find it tough to make the 5 in my opinion.

Is this the same guy who got 10 weeks last night for retaliating ?

Apparantley this is not the same inncident...as the one i was told of was un-provoked and off the ball. By the sounds of last nights tribuneral results ie. (Lavo player recieving 10 weeks suspension) it was a little more serious then the one you refered too.

Does not sound to good

10 Weeks, omg. Can anyone at Laverton confirm this? For him to get 10 weeks he must have knocked the guy out behind play right infront of a WRFL offical because i have never herd of anyone getting that many weeks before.

From what i heard, North Footscray, had a week and a half to get their collective heads together to stitch the young fella right up. The version i was told is the 2 blokes involved were having a crack at each other off the ball, one ended up getting a better hit in than the other, and the one who took it didnt end up in a good way, and has since sooked up about it.

Will be interesting to see the Lavo players response next time against north, we all know they're a bit ferrel to begin with, who knows afta this. Me thinks it will be a game i will get out to watch!!

Unit whomever you are, have a crack at me all you like as it is and always will be water off a duck's back but don't have a go at my team-mates and the club that I am working very hard to improve on and off the field.

We have a very young side that whilst maybe taking a few steps backward with results at the moment, I can assure you are taking huge steps forward in terms of structure, direction and in the end will result with a new standard of the requirements to be a senior, reserve and under 18 footballer at Laverton not just in 2010 but in the years ahead.

You have some sort of 'interest' in what is happening at Laverton but you are clearly not a supporter of the club, as the word 'support' is a positive one and as we gradually lose/eradicate people (players/supporters) that are negative and don't want to help develop and build the players up to believe in their ability (and trust me there are a lot of young kids with that at Lavo), the place will improve, we will attract more quality players and blokes like Corey, Belly, etc...

There are many people out there that can or feel like it is their duty to point out 'problems' (or the negatives), but not too many that have any 'solutions' so by all means private message me (or even give me a call) with your solutions on how we can improve from what you see is a 'rabble'... I bet you don't or can't.

Laverton don't need or want people like you, so feel free to forget the negative crap or give us something constructive, maybe even come down and hold a tackling bag for us, run water or do anything that will help us improve!

Go Laverton!

Justin Moran

PM me I would love to have a chat. Well put by the way.

Tips for round 3

Deer Park Flying at the moment...still havent played anyone from inside last years top 5 however two games down and two 15 goal wins has them up and about and with North Sunshine this week could very well see them on top at the end of the round in a very nice spot. Deer Park 40 + goals

I pumped up Coburg Districts tires a little to much last week i think, as all four tires may have popped during the game, however im willing to stick with them again this week but only because their opposition in Braybrook looked just as dissapointing in their game last week. should be a good game and a close one. Coburg Districts by 4 goals

Albanvale had a great oppurtunity last week to really stamp their authority on the competition but feel just a little short, look well improved from last year and with Mohamed up and about down forward should be far to strong for the Laverton Magpies who just seem to be firing blanks at the moment. Albanvale by 15 goals

Yarraville had a good solid win last week and look set to really get their 2010 season rolling with 2 wins on the trot this week against Wynhamvale Falcons who also got their season up and running with a good win. Should be a great game of football with both teams wanting to make an early statement. Yarra by 3 goals

Match of the Round (IMO)

North Footscray you would think would want to win this game more then any other to prove they can finally go one better, Parkside have had the wood over the devils defeating them on every occasion last year. Parkside after knocking off albanvale last week will be fueling with confidence for this game, however with more riding on the devils to get a win i feel possibly they just might put their hoodoo to rest in what will be a fantastic game to watch. North Footscray by 1 goal.

Good Luck to all teams

Pretty sure he was down at Albanvale tonight and has signed .. Kelso was there with him I belive ?

Should make this Saturday very interesting with Albanvale playing Laverton. I wonder if Zurek is lining up in the blue and white ?

The Vales beat Yarra last season, and have improved out of sight this season.

Vales will smash Yarra 10 Goals +

As long as Thompson is tagging the boundary umpire, Wyndham Vale are a force to be reckoned with

I can confirm that Jason Karim will be playing for Albanvale, i will have news for you on Zurek within the hour

Why are all these players leaving Laverton????? i hear the coach is really good.

Anyone from Laverton want to fill us in??

Ok started well but you finished with poor form with the comment about the laverton boys being a bit “ferrel” .
We at laverton are not paid players we are just a group of mates having a go, and because of this our group is always very close, so we will not hesitate to fly the flag or back our mates up when they find themselves having to stand up and not be pushed around! This to me is one of the great things about our club that doesn’t change weather we are winning or not. This positive should give us a far better label than feral!
FYI I have played 200 senior games most of them at Laverton and have never missed a week through suspension…

i umpired that game, and neither of us saw it so it must have been a fair way off the ball. i think it was in the 3rd quarter but not sure. after the game the NF team manager came in to the rooms and told us they were going to lodge an incident report or whatever with the league regarding it and that they had told the LM blokes what had happened, and they were happy for NF to put the complaint in if that is what happened. they know who it was who did it, and i wasn't surprised when they told us who it was. they were saying he had a fractured eye socket and cheek bone at that stage.

i wouldn't say they were a rabble, they were good to us most of the day, which is more than i can say for a lot of teams when they are being comfortably beaten
