There are a few handy forwards in the Eastern League that are equal to if not better than Rose. Plus there is a guy a west Preston and one maybe 2 at Nth Heidelberg are probably better than rose.

Brett Eddy and Jake Best at Vermont are up there , also Jeff Gobbels from Balwyn who plays higher is a consistently high performer in the Eastern League .

What price do YOU put on success? As long as a clubs under or on the cap and has the funds to pay their bills whist giving sufficient opportunities to their homegrowns would be the way I’d look at it . Just my view .

It the price of a single flag means the club hits rock bottom due to the excesses of the flag campaign, the price is too high. It doesn't take long for a club to go from chocolates to boiled lollies.
The financial cost is one thing, the biggest cost is the loss of young players and perhaps junior teams to the club. Once that happens, it's difficult to get them back.

I will say it again Patty is one of the best forwards in metro/country footy, if not the best. He’s worth every cent he gets. His a star and could be the difference between Altona getting to finals and actually winning it. Yes he gets paid well and why shouldn’t he. 33k is a guess but if he gets that and Altona are within the cap and able to afford it then good on them. Not sure 2k a game is market value but his worth 1200 a game in today’s market..

No doubt Carro will be in the shits about the first round defeat, rules are rules and that comes down to poor management. Should be 2 and 2. But will smash Wyndhamvale and Mellington to have a day out.

Sunshine have some work to do this week and its always a massive game vs spotswood a loss here will hurt there top 3 chances. Spotswood in a close one.

Can St Albans knock off altona? It should be a great indication of where there at and if there recruits are any good. We all know S.Smith is a superstar but the jury is out on the other 8-9 recruits. Altona will win well here 6-7 goals.

Werribee to win to beat hoppers who are in great touch. There homegrown recruits are flying, N.Black injured?

Deer Park will take a lot from smashing sunshine and will have a day out against Albion.

I took a look at the WRFL squad for the interleague game, Do players have to put forward availability?
Just to name a few who would be certain starters and in the top bracket of the team are not playing.

SFC - Langlands, Boyd, Patak
DP - C. Stewart, Kennedy, Ven Reit, McKhargh, Bower, Purton Smith,
Altona - Robbins Magnabosco
Caroline Spring - Mellington.

These are some high calibre players, I dont see the point having a game against one of the best leagues in Australia when you cant have 10 or so of your top best20 competition players available.

imagine this FWD line,
HF Robbins, Boyd, McKargh
FF Rose, Mellington, Pinyani

Down Back-
Bower, Van Reit and Kennedy would be a shoe in for the 3 of the back 6 spots and throw in magnaboscos run and carry.
C. Stewart and Langlands are the best in the business out of the centre.

Inter league Squad is strange;

Only two players good enough outside of Division 1 on talent (Skipper & Longmire) should even be considered. I mean no disrespect to any selected in squad.
