I'd say it's 5 now.
Aha makes sense now . I should have known Turbo lives 2 years behind everyone else . 1/2 joking . I’ll add I do know a “representative “ of a WRFL club who offered a certain forward a 27k sign on and $1000 on the books in recent times . Meaning salary cap times .

Took the dog for a walk to whitten oval to suss out interleague good numbers about 30 all had club jumpers on and didnt see a hoppers or deer park jumper. Piss poor if they dont send anyone down

Nice try but incorrect on both counts .True that Deer Park offered truckloads more than Altona. Wasn’t actually asking what anyone thinks he’s being paid , I already know that . What I was asking was what do you pay A player who changes results of games ?

Il put the price on it for you. 33k and $1200 a game plus 10k sign on. Not bad considering deer park offered him 53k
Sounds like Leo's den not far off mark with roses salary

Why, Interleague means nothing to most senior players. How many blokes would Deer Park have that played all juniors in the WRFL. You get big money playing for your club nothing for interleague. It is a shame but unless you are a young bloke that still has aspirations of trying to play VFL or a player that has come through WRFL system from Juniors you would rather have a week off then play interleague.

Is that the same CS that played at North Heidelberg

One of the best ruckman the leagues had, probably shown a lot more the last 2 years due to fitness.

At Marby he dominated in the ruck and when up forward. Great skills for a big man and would have close to double digit premiership medals at various clubs around his neck.

Worth every cent and more.

Best player in the comp for mee

So assuming the salary caps $215k what do you pay your best player ? This isn’t a loaded question, just interested in what people think .

IMO It would vary between the clubs. For example clubs like Altona who have had quality juniors come back who played higher like Post, and Tighe you get them for not overly to much so you can have a crack at a rose and offer a packet. i reckon 30-35k for a match winner. (80 goal min forward or elite ruckman who can hit the scoreboard)

I never understood why a few years back hoppers didnt have a crack at getting 2-3 superstars to compliment there young blokes and skipper. Wouldnt have thought the club wasn't short of a dollar.
Generally the blokes who played juniors play for considerably less So you can throw 30+k

But if your a Deer Park, sunshine and St Albans who need to bring in outside talent as they lack the quality of past juniors like spotty, altona hoppers and werribee its hard to see how the above clubs would be able to have a 30-35k plus player on your list.

Example:
DP - Mckhargh, Stewart, Bower, Perkins, Wong, Byrnness, Van Reit, Kennedy any of these blokes would get 20-30k at other clubs and are most certainly on close to that at the lions. If they were to cash out and be under the cap surely 18-20k would be it for there highest paid player but they have 10+ stars

Dont know much about sunshine but would assume they would evenly spread the dollars,
Throw in Caroline Springs, again need to bring outside talent as they are anew club, Mellington is worth every cent providing he kicks a bag week in week out.

St Albans no doubt have thrown cash as mentioned by the coach in his media video, 10 or so ins playing for 700-1000 per game, there top player being shylo you would think would get 20k plus if they are cashing out within the rules if not he's worth 25-30k IMO in todays market valuation.

So after my ramble it simply varies between clubs.

Unhappy with what ? On good coin maybe scumshine un happy with his output 5 games 8 goals 4 of those against bottom side not what was expected I imagine

Correct me if I am wrong he only kicked 23 goals last year? hes on target to match that this year.

Not sure why a club would target someone kicking under 40 goals as a key forward? Still early doors takes time to adjust to a new system and smaller grounds.

Burstin is a very good player but not a “key” forward unless they are playing him as the sole full forward. His more your half forward who works up & down the ground. However I haven’t seen him play this season to comment to much, but his a reasonably good player who goes in hard..

He’s gone from a very good player to a reasonably good player in one sentence.

I did stuff that up didn’t I. Well maybe his gone from a very good player to reasonably good player in 5 games. Lol

Oh well your all over it Bully..

On another subject are Deer Park & Altona slightly ahead of the rest at this early point? Any real challenges coming?

IMO its not the type of player they really require at this stage. They needed a fwd target more so than a decent half forward. They have players who work up and down the ground... you have players like lyons who run and carry and penetrate the ball deep into the 50 i don't see why you would recruit such a type.

Some teams need those type of players to accompany a fwd like C.S, Altona and even Deer Park which they no doubt have.

Anyway I reckon Werribee will give Altona a DP a shake.

Lol. I’m watching you Turbo. Looks like Deer Park v Altona at this stage . Werribee seem to have trouble believing they can beat Deer Park. Can’t write off Hoppers and Spotswood as they are both well coached . Sunshine have to start winning obviously but are already behind the eight ball . Interesting to see if St Albans and CSprings can take some scalps along the way . Altona have the firepower and depth to challenge. May depend on the availability of their VFL aligned boys who form the core of their midfield.

Do I need to get a restraining order on you Bully.. Haha.
