They looked at a guess around the $350000 spend mark . If that’s not hollow I don’t know what is !!!

Unfortunately that’s killed this league IMO knowing only 1 side can really win the premiership most years whilst they assemble a list like that. Let’s face it the majority of there players are only there for the $$. I don’t have answers to fix it but good comps should have 4-6 teams min who can win it on there day. Good luck to DP but I don’t like it.

What people forget Deer park came into the league on the back of spotswood playing in every GF since 2003, Yes they have smashed the league but this year clubs have improved heavily and dont forget 2 out of there 5 premierships were won by a kick so we can say all we want, I think the comp was ****ed for about 3 years but its in a good position now, yes they are still going to win it but we can all agree from 2nd to 10 has never been so competitive?

Ask your self this 10 years ago yes you would have colts, hoppers, st albans park side spotty etc but the bottom 4 teams would get smashed by 15 goals week in week out.
Would you want it to be more even over 10 teams and have deer park getting the honours?

Or say a colts or spotty and have 4-5 teams just getting smashed every weeek? (year albion knocked off spotty you will find most weeks both sides would pump others by 12-15 goals each week)

I for one have really enjoyed this year and the gap is closing on the premiers.
Don't see the point on harping on about the money they spend, every decade theres a club who spends, Hoppers, Spotty, Albion and colts to a degree have had the 4-5 years of being at the top. This time its no different.

No different? If you can’t see the difference there’s no point in entering any discussion with you . The rules were changed my friend and Deer Park are cheating. No ifs or buts . When Spotswood had their run there were no rules but having said that they wouldn’t have spent 1/2 of what Deer Park are spending in any year . You may “have really enjoyed this year” but the end result looks like it will be flawed again .

Spot on. Spotty flags were built on a solid foundation of local youth and the right amount of recruits. Spotty lucky to crack $100k spend in any Premiership year. Built a dynasty that valued the jumper and their mates. Money was a long way down the list of priorities. For all intents and purposes, Altona in 2012 were the same.

Clubs coming from Div 2 should be striving to emulate Spotswood, not Deer Park. As an Altona person I've always respected the way Spotty went about it, and continue to go about. The right way.

Don’t get me wrong, never minded clubs working hard and smart to pay good money to their players , just don’t cheat . It’s as simple as that . When you know first hand of players being paid big sign ons which are not included on the contracts submitted then it’s paints a completely different picture. The arrogance of one bloke party to this is absolutely unbelievable.

It's all related and is brought back to culture and how the success has been achieved.

They blatantly cheat, display zero sportsmanship, zero humility. They bully umpires on field which leads to getting away with the cheap shots, which leads to the narrowly avoided brawl at half time yesterday.

The half time push and shove leads to my belief that Werribee is inappropriate for local footy. The benches being side-by-side, as well as the rooms? At the very least if the sides were using the home rooms at least the sides would have been going in opposite directions. I'm sure there is a rule that states benches should be on opposite sides of the ground. Anyway. Rant over.

Firstly, I live in spotswood and have supported them for 20 years. I am purely stating that I have really enjoyed this year because its been fairly even during the season. Well aware of where spotswood is at and couldn't be more proud of the club. I just dont see the point of continually talking about them spending what there spending. Never supported or wanted sunshine to win a game until the GF last year and would have probably been the most enjoyable game ive seen had they won.

Again i would rather see it beeing even from position 2 to 8 or 9 then back in the days when the bottom 4 or 5 sides were getting smashed. This is just my view and thoughts.

Are we discussing the same thing ? What has the evenness or unevenness of the competition got to do with Deer Park being over the salary cap ?

Sorry I forgot that you were part of the deer park inner sanctum. I’m so over reading the rubbish you idiots claim to know it’s calked jealousy

Used to be a requirement that benches were on opposite sides of the ground. Now anything goes, with the intention that all grounds will eventually have them on the same side.

Didnt you reply to my post???? Anyway I dont disagree with your view on there salary cap standings but nothing is being done about it nothing will come of it......

any coaching departures this year or re appointments?

St Albans would be silly not to chase contessa from pascoe, great network of quality footballers would be ideal for the club and hard at it approach.

Stop crying you people about deer park
Viking
Your lack of understanding on the role local sport plays in suburban communities is concerning. When it’s all said and done who wins each year is of no consequence to me . In my sporting days I once placed too high a priority on winning. I now realise how misguided I was . I’d rather lose with honour than win without .

Yeah I’ve got no association with division 1 but I’ll always have a look at the results and I think the time has come for some deer park faithful to have a word to have a word to that “big G” or whatever they call the bloke with the fat wallet.
“Look G we understand you were probably horrible at any sport you tried to do, as a kid growing up. However since then you’ve excelled in the business world and have more money then most of us could only dream. We’ve taken the piss out of the wrfl the last 5 or so years and if not for generosity who knows what state our club would be in today. For most clubs it takes years trying to build there team lists, finances and everything else that it takes for local footy success. They don’t have the magic wand of money that we are currently in possession of that fixes pretty much everything. Time to just put the wand away and play by the rules that most teams are trying to abide by. Acts like this have ruined the beauty that is local footy and we’ve decided that we’re gonna have a crack at building our clubs history rather then you just buying it. But thank you” :)

Albion heading to div 2 ?
Altona had park rattled early b4 injuries caught up . How brian lake is allowed to play reserve finals is a joke

What's everyone's thoughts on the Div 3 Grand Finals getting a gig at Avalon Oval and Div 1 prelims being moved to Williamstown?

What’s the rule , if a player Has played only senior games all year then is injured for several weeks how can they come into a reserved side for finals ??

If Seniors not playing same day, must have played minimum 2 Reserves games and total 6 Senior/Reserves home & away games for club and not more than 10 Senior Home & Away games (short version!)

Just checked it says he’d played 11 senior games and only 1 reserve game before Saturday , so wonder how that works?

Providing you are only referring to Home & Away games then to me that makes him ineligible if seniors also not playing on same day. Suggest you check the WRFL website and the By-Laws for Finals Eligibility. Don't think WRFL would check eligibility unless an issue is raised to them
