Re: Western Region Football League team

Round 1. Port Colts vs Hoppers Crossing

Expect a firery encounter!

Hoppers will come out Round 1 with somthing to proove! considering the fashion the went down to the Colts in the 06 GF!
They will be out to restore pride lost in 06!

It will just be business like for the Colts who are in search of the 3peat!
The key for the Colts is not to fall into Hoppers who you would expect to come out very aggressive!

Highly anticipated 06 GF replay! Will be one of the games of the year!

Any thoughts?????????
Cant wait for this game, it will help ease a little bit of the pain of 05, and hope the game is a fiery one but unless they recruit some people with heart and some toughness then l doubt although they are a very skillful side like Sunshine there strengths aren't in mental and physical toughness, but who knows what a year can do. Is Murphy still playing for them the kid can play also Becker and Miles go very well and will be allot better with a year of senior football under there belt.

Have Hoppers recruited any of the 18's from Werribee last year who were red hot favs?

Albion well will be interesting round 2 hey, better look out Rock this new and improved Albion is going to get you........please if thats there attitude it looks like another stellar season for the great Albion, wouldn't mind lining up in the pocket next you Rock for that encounter, all the ferals will be there in thier Gemini's and dirt bikes swearing and abusing people with words no longer than 5 letters.
Cabs you must be looking forward to a decent derby for a change.

Yeah the derbys have been pretty poor lately... remember when i was a kid watching Sunshine and they were also hard, tough and very close... often in Albions favour. Since ive played seniors i havent lost to Albion yet and im pretty keen to keep it that way! no doubt they will improve, but enough to challenge the top sides im not sure.

Re: Western Region Football League team

U win i give up! please stop picking on me ............

Guys I’m just a fan – an old footy legend. Not one eyed Albion I also watch Sunshine sometimes. Didn’t go out of my way to be rough on you Rock but you can take it and you love it. I am however excited about the vibe Albion has this year. They have recruited well, kept the ones that do have heart and with about 40 training each night increased their discipline. Hopefully they can pull it all together and have a good season. I really hope they make finals blokes like Richards, Hewitt, Tymms (both of them), Bettin, Haldane grew up at the club and deserve it. We’re not all feral!!

Agree with you there about those players deserving some success, i was referring to some of the young supporters.

Agree with you in regards to the "hype" at Albion, the talk is they may finally have something to crow about in relation to some worthy recruits.I also agree it would be good for the Bettin family to be around if and when success knocks on the door. As for the other guys (apart from one of the Tymms's) as far as I can recall, all have played elsewhere for one reason or another in the past few years?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Anyone out there from Parkside??

Understand things are still pretty grim down that neck of the woods? A realiable source tells me that numbers are way down, recruits are scarce and the club is yet to appiont a President?

Although I understand that P.O'Keefe has been approached for the above.

They have all been back for at least 3 or 4 years. Some went to Sunshine because Albion couldn't make an under 18s (or maybe 16s) side. The others played higher/better leagues but they are Albion boys. I think they all started in under 10's at Albion.

Also I don't think it is just the recruits. The coach seems to have had a strong impact on the side. With so many showing up for training they should be a much fitter side this year.

Re: Western Region Football League team

That's correct high flier CADDY has signed and is back at the colts he should be back and ready to play by rd 3 after ankle operation and i expect him to be fitter and more hungry than last year after having a chat with him it will be more family dinners after footy with my family and his this year than getting on the drink with the boys.
Now with moppa back also looks like kealy is the only loss and no offence to keals was lucky to get that final spot and now with the inclusions of wittmar, lindsay, chisnal and mcgregor, this will be an awesome side probably one to rival the colts of 98 but cleraly our best side in the last 5 years but that guarantees nothing,so hopefully both the seniors and reserves get the results they deserve this year.
COLTS PRACCY GAMES
thurs 15th march intra club
sat 24th march airport west
fri/30th/sat 31 glenorden[date yet to be confirmed
thurs 5th april keilor

round 1 colts v's hoppers 14th april [less than 5 weeks away ] time to get excited.

Tonights intra club praccy match at the Colts! What did u make of the game!
Any stand-outs?
Was it a good indication as to where your senior player group are at present, in terms of fitness and skill level?
The Colts have been criticised in the past for commencing there pre-season training to late. (Mid-Jan)
Clubs like Spotswood started Mon, Wed, Fri since early November!
Maybe the extended break over the pre-season is the key to the Colts success and consistany in recent years?
Will the senior group be fit come Round 1?

Your post is a little premature, the game is tonight (pending council permission). Expect a good hit out with 60% of main squad participating.

For the record Obe1 does not get 10k as mentioned, he has recieved part shares in the Clare Castle Hotel with his mate Rock07. Look forward to a new night club opening there soon.;)

Re: Western Region Football League team

Put a big enough wager hero on who I am and I will show you that you are very wrong on who you think I am.

I have no idea who you are, and really don't give a f#*k. You call yourself Tony Delaney, the only TD I know had red hair and couldn't play football. Simple!

Re: Western Region Football League team

seen on the wrfl website that pat davis has put in a clearance to play at sunbury, not good news for the magpies with condos already at keilor

last year they kicked 150 goals between them so parks are going to find it very difficult to replace them

The word from inside the club is that they are only a fifty/fifty chance of fielding two senior teams this year. Numbers are down and as you have eluded to the cupboard is starting to look a bit light on. They do however still have a pretty handy on ball deprtment if they can secure a few big fellas to support them all is not lost. They are also determined to field an under 18 team this year regardless of their senior plight.

Cougar man you went well in the intra that step is still there, l thought young Bryce Critch was best others were Brannan doesnt drop them, Julier came back overweight but is a gun and cant be tackled, Massis is super fit and the best in clerances, Taylor just classy, Twoomey very strong all in all the whole group worked hard
New blokes Whittmar works very hard and has a great leap and grab, McGergor also has great hands and is a smart forward. Allot of the young blokes worked hard and showed courage which is great.
Throw Caddy, Webby, Lindsay and Chisnall in the mix and it looks like we will have an ok year, but its along season and anything can happen like you captain getting weeks and then getting off to play in GF lol
