Re: Western Region Football League team

does anyone know how turner, vimpany and fenton go from albion.

They are all very good players with great reps. We just need to see how the team plays together. Previous new recruits have played for themselves trying to prove their worth. Lack of team work and discipline has been a big problem. I think the discipline is back hopefully the team work is there also. Shanks has a though job positioning the team. They have a lot of on ballers and a lot of changes to make I think. First practice match this weekend.

With the decision from the VAFA starting their season even later now will this effect other leagues decisions on the start of their seasons?

Southern Football League has put its start back two weeks to April 28 after a similar decision by the Mornington Peninsula Nepean league. Diamond Valley Football League has been forced to defer its season for three weeks until May 5, as have the Geelong and Bendigo leagues. Ballarat fixtures are being delayed by a fortnight.
Eastern Football League is considering shorter games, Saturday and Sunday fixtures and playing through the Queen's Birthday holiday to get through matches.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Albion - Assard stared back at training on Tuesday. He has been overseas.
Sunshine - They have lost a few and the boys are not really pumped.
St Albans - Any more comments on St Albans?

Not sure where your getting your info from - however we have really only lost 2 current senior players. Some of the other clearances haven't played for the club for years, or they are under 18's going into seniors. But we have also picked up 7 new players
With the training sessions I have attended the vibe is good, the boys are working really hard, and quinny is working hard with their fitness and ball skills better than last year, the boys are working really hard. Reserve numbers are down slightly, but will increase as the season draws closer. The club is very excited about fielding their own under 18's this year aswell. Playing a praccy on Saturday vs Tongala.

Xavier Linton! I know he was doing pre-season at Werribee, will he play VFL this season or will he be running around for Sunshine?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Avondale is at their ground but Im not playing as I strained my groin last week. Hopefully next week I will be right to go. Rowville is at our ground (I think) and Douttas is at their ground.

The big ****ter will probably line up at half back when Im back into it. Ive trimmed down to a small island mate. What possie did you play and how did you go?

BEAZER?

Foggarty
Oates
Sablich
Salmon
Pure
Cini
Graham

Are these young blokes all play at Spotty this year?
Will any of them play seniors?

is that travvy's former club

is this game at sunshine or are you guys going on a trip to play up there

i like going away and playing a praccy match against a bush club and spending a night or 2 there with the boys:thumbsu:

Re: Western Region Football League team

We are playing at Tongala - having seniors, ressies and under 18's

I think it Travvy's former club, but we have a few other boys from tongala as well.

Xavier Linton - I am not sure what is happening with him at the moment, the last cabbie told me was that still hadn't signed there but was still training, but that was a few weeks ago - maybe cabbie could tell us more.

The 7 we have picked up
Batty, Carroll, Johnstone, Jones, Kuno, Mcgoldrick, Mentha.
These are the 7 - I think 2 0r 3 of these could be ressie players, not 100% - you can check all clearances on the website. - But still 4 new players into the seniors is good.
http://www.wrfl.asn.au/?s=fixtures
then go to the clearences tab. There are a lot of coming's and goings for a lot of clubs.

Re: Western Region Football League team

We are heading up there just for the day, leaving early sat morning then home that night. Think the idea was to spend the night there but not many were keen on that idea. in regards to Xave he didnt make the list at Werribee... but he wont be playing at Sunshine. Not sure where hes heading yet but definently wont be the WRFL. Of the guys we have picked up id imagine McGoldrick, Carroll and possibly Batty would be the only ones to play seniors. Mentha and Dickson have also signed but are at VFL clubs werribee and williamstown. Hopefully we will have Hedditch and Quinn for the majority of the season but i cant see it happening. The other names havent been sighted or wont play seniors.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Would have to be a 2nds player from melton, they would say that, just looking at the results from last year, and the 3 guys are worth over 130 goals between them.. im sure there worth a bit.. spoke to a guy from qld the other day, said vimpany is a gun very fast and good skills.
have spoking to a mate mixed up with melton, he said albion have picked up 3 boys from there, paying alot more then their worth so i hope all that cash thats spent by the cats is going to some quality or its lower end of the table for the boys.

Massive rumor sweeping the metro footy grapevine
Big News to be released from WRFL headquarters, round 1 of the senior season at this stage will be delayed until the 5th of May , about a 3rd of the grounds in the WRFL are unplayable. The 5 councils will be meeting with the executives this week to confirm this delay. The danger in this is
the stage 4 water restrictions will in place by then therefore without rain
the wrfl season is in grave doubt. The clubs should rally to get the season started prior to the restrictions, because if you start they won't stop the season. Anyone else heard of this?

I just spoke to John Batty and at the moment the season is to go ahead on 14th of april but it is a week to week proposition and it all depends on the councils but the wrfl want to start on time so hopefull we get enough grounds.PORT COLTS GROUND WILL BE FINE

Re: Western Region Football League team

It was very pleasing to see you finally kick some goals in finals clarke after all those years of really struggling on the big stage of finals not sure if you've improved or the standard of the competition is slipping anyway its all forgotten about with your performance of the past two series how much you cost your team in earlier years with dropped chestmarks, inability to chase and just your allround selfish play no handball etc.
If needed to play ressies i would i don't think im above it and actually played two reserve games in 2000.
My fitness is ok and the back almost back to new, confidence is something i need not to worry about afte rplaying 15yrs of senior footy i know what's required, especially after the year i had last in 06.
Just with the retiring thing i did say but definately didn't mean it,was just dissapointed in being injured, but i will continue to play untill i can no longer get a kick in the reserves, which hopefully is at least 5yrs,i love being around the club.

speaking of dropped chest marks costing your team

Re: Western Region Football League team

Thanks for the honesty Rock i hope you get back to your last years from good luck.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Beazer, humour me if you will, from what I hear you are Port born and bred - correct me if I'm wrong? And I may well be wrong...perhaps you are not who I believe you to be. If I am correct, did you play any of your junior football at the colts and if so why didn't you continue on? Not being a smart arse - just curious.

Lived all my life in Altona mate. My dads family are all from Port and have lived there all their life. Spent a lot of time over there as a kid but never actually lived there.

You can say what you like mate but you just sound jealous...........
I know you may think your getting to me but it does not bother me in the slightest,i'm a bit more mentally stronger than that,so throw a few more so called insults my way,as i actualy like it,

Re: Western Region Football League team

He can talk up his chances all he wants, the fact is actions will speak louder,it is also a bit strange he is talking them up when not seeing the rest of the competition.
How did he go against strathmore last year and did he play against j.lindsay at all.
BEAZER you out there are you a loud to write a report on that praccy against avondale?

Wasnt at work yesterday so I couldnt reply.

Guys that didnt play included myself, Montebello, Bond, Rippon, Keenan, Harris and Kelly and Mangin strained hammy's in the 1st qtr so they didnt play after qtr time.

We ended up being beaten by 5 points. We played pretty average but it was the 1st hitout and we had a few out. Showed a bit in the 2nd half to give ouselves a chance of winning so that was good. The new guys showed enough to suggest they will be good pick ups and a couple of kids were pretty good. It wasnt a pretty game with the wind being a factor to 1 end. We showed that if we can get the ball in quickly to our forwards, we will kick a few goals. Add Monty and Crackers to that forward set up and we have a few more options than we previously had.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Spotswood F.C are after a practice match for this weekend. They are in the process of finding a ground and will be confirmed tomorrow. Will be played in the Werribee area. If any team is interested, P.M me and I will pass your details on.

Re: Western Region Football League team
