Dean is playing at Sunshine and has been picked to play tomorrow in the ones.
Also Morgz goes as MorgzKing I think it is

secure, now the WRFL website seems to be more up to date, is there any quality in the recruits you guys have brought in, compared to those who have jumped off?

Re: Western Region Football League team

i think you will find red man that there was no sign on fee to my knowledge and i would hope not for 18yr olds and i think those two kids were in wrong place wrong time and are really good kids ones at werribee and will play at albion when not needed and can play other hasnt missed a training ses and is boardering srn selection this week is a player of the future when he bulks up

i agree.. played against them last year. top blokes agree with wolverine they struggled throughout finals but one kicked about 60 goals and the other about 30-40 so they will be handly at albion.

Blueboy are you from West?

The clearances have been updated and I am not sure if any of the names are juniors, but there are 42 players that have clearances in (some still pending). Thats almost a whole club? Will they have enough players?
a lot of those clearances are under 16s. we don't have an u16 this year. There will be enough players on Saturday.

I would have to say there has probably been more quality leaving then coming in at Yarra, mind you hardly any of the recruits have played a game yet or trained much so still hard to tell, except for Rays cordial it has gone up a notch this year. Also depends on what quality you are talking about, skill wise or quality blokes in general time will tell.

Good luck all for the first round, may all play hard, well and injury free.

Carn the eagles.

With the exception of you GreatestGame, the year off would have done you wonders.......i expect you to be the boom recruit this year :thumbsu:

Are you trying to be sarcastic mate?

Hey mate I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on the new addition to your family, any chance of having a run this year?

Thanks mate. She's a gem. Unfortunately was born with my looks so is in strife from the start it would seem.

Probably not mate. Robs secured my services as a runner this year so will be around, but not likely to be in the jumper.

Good luck tomorrow champ, won't be around.

hey easy champ your below post you posted on the 19th of february on the other div 1 thread ago looks a bit hypocritical now you have applied for a clearance. Care to explain fool.

I can't speak on Yarraville behalf BUT for West it's a simple problem, there is money there and money that West are willing to spend but are struggling to get players on the training track. I have heard a hand full of players that have had enough guts to say why they are leaving and why (including twins that annoy everyone anyway lol) and credit to those players who have done the right thing but to the players who played in the premiership and have now left for $$$ or just jumped ship to go rip another club GOODBYE AND SO LONG, I just hope that sunny heights, Albanvale, Nth foot's and any other Divvy 1 hopefuls, stay away from trying to signing them b/c they are just going to leave your club in a big hole for when you go up. Oh, and in saying that, 90% of them who has left, ALL SAID they were going to stay for the long run ahead in Divvy 1.

I guess the moral of the story, if you go sign wanna be stars, that surprisingly only play in 2nd divvy or lower comp's so they make themselves look better than they actually are, your not going to make in Divvy 1 b/c they are going to run to the hills instead of having a crack and seeing how good they really are. Just shows the character of those type of people

Oh, for the crisis meeting i did hear West were going to speak to the league but the reasons for, i am unaware off

Well round 1 is over with and looks as though spotty have stamped themselves as the number1 team with a massive win over hoppers, also looks like crackers has started 08 like last year...no hangover there.
Got to have a look at the first nite game for points and must say it would be great to make it a weekly thing if all clubs could get the lights working.
I left 5 mins into the 3rd quarter, but thought albion dominated the game all nite, had a big lead early but let the saints back in but then powered away again but eventually winning only by 3 goals, albion are not big but run very well and savalas and barker controlled the backline well. The cats will have a good year.
Glenorden off to a flyer, looks as though yarra may be struggling, hopefully they can improve over the year....spotty this week will be a very tough, crackers to get 15
West had a high score for a losing team, good sign, so they may sneak a win down the track.
Colts sunshine was a good game, we dominated the first quarter and had a lead of about 47pts at one stage but we relaxed became lazy, then sunshine lifted and somehow lead half time by 1 point, in a great comeback mainly through their hard running midfield.
We got back on top in the third, and finished the last strongly. To win by four goals was a good effort in the finish.
Standouts for us were mcgregor with a bag of 10, julier was back to his best& alot fitter than last year, millen across chf was stong and
aggressive, also critch in the midfield was solid winning alot of his own ball and slowing quinn down in the second half.
Looking forward to albion next week and with hoath, jacobs, twomey and wittmar all available it should be another good game.

Lucas McGhie still to come in to the side....

I have been advised Lucas McGhie was seen at Spotty after the game speaking to the coach and match committee to get him on board down there?

If Spotty gave Hoppers a thumping, what are they going to do Yarra/Seddon next week?

Lucas McGhie was at Spotty talking to his brother and his best mate Bondy. Last time I checked neither of them were the Coach or Match Committee. Lucas is working most Saturdays so I couldn't see that fitting into any Club's game plan !!

It's better to be talking footy than all the other crap that's on here....i thought this was part of the herald sun....not captain mate coach, don't think i have bad body language at all so not sure what you are talking about, maybe i was frustrated in the second quarter after we let an 8 goal lead slip away???? or are you a body language expert????? anyway the colts won and that's all i care about, you can say and think what you like about me i won't change.....never will.... go colts

I'M JUST A FOOTY NUFFY......eveyone know's that

Don't worry about sill comments like the one you responded to Rock. You are a premiership winning coach a couple of times over and a Priest medallist. Who cares what people think eh????

On subject of the FOOTY..... I noticed on the WRFL website that there were some BIG thrashings. West, Yarraville look like they are in for a long season. Port, Spotty look the goods as predicted. Is it a case of the strong getting stronger and the weak getting weaker???

no hangover yesterday but got decent one now.

was a pretty impressive performance by us yesterday, did all the things the coach asked us to do and really worked hard for the full four quaters, still a few areas that need improvement. hoppers will be a good side this year, they were a little bit down yesterday, but once there recruits gel together a bit more i think they will be hard to beat, frost is a massive loss for them.
the game started out with some fireworks as expected, and we were able to settle first and got a little bit of a jump on them, then we skipped away from them in the second and held onto that six or seven goal lead for the rest of the day
our better players were mango, isbister, harris and our new recruits okeff, mcghie and synott were also very impressive.
hoppers best were barry up forward, k murphy played well, and disco touched me up when he came onto me

night games would be a great thing for the competition, but i think only stalbans ground is suffiently lighted to play them

Was an interesting game to say the least... no real wind going to that end but it was definetly the scoring end. Colts blew us away early and it looked like it could have been a white-wash. at one stage they had kicked 8 straight. to our credit we fought back from being 40 points down at quarter time, and kicked the first goal after halftime and were looking good. Colts got on top late in the quarter and were 20 odd up at 3/4 time... kicking to the scoring end in the last so we were pretty confident, got within 2 goals but just couldnt get the next one. Colts had a fair few off there top players out as did Sunshine so both can improve. Best for us were McInneny who played well in the ruck, Quinn, Trevaskis and Connor kicked 3. McGregor was clearly best on, really hard to match up on cos hes quick and strong overhead, also Jacobs, Massis, Critch and Jullier were good.
