Albion

In Zavarlos, Knezavic

Out Magnabosco, Stephens.

Interesting that with spotty under the spotlight this week
regarding selection, that steve took the easy option of dropping
2 kids? Also with him on last chance (14 weeks) will spotty try
and suck him in,only time will tell?

I don't think the easy option was taken, but would say there is 5-6older guys who are on the last straw, been given many chances, not naming names but have under performed all year.
Also a few champions at Albion who havn't lived up to the form they provided last year, will be interesting to see how they play at finals time.

Spotty By 26?
If anything the side is going to be at full strength!
Expect a very close game, Spotty do play good finals football, expect a massive effort under lights from our boys. GO CATS!

Hoppers have to many good players in the 2's compared to ALBION?????
Reserves have Vimpany, Magnabosco, Stephens, Savage, Gauci, Bond and a late inclusion Adam Fenton who have all played senior football this year. Expect another close match!

GO CATS!!

Hey, the give up turns up once again!!

No, one-two by yourself as before the Hoppers match?

You forgot about A.Moore................backbone of the twos!

There might be a Tong Master but we all know ho really runs the show
The tong master is king....best VP the colts have seen in a long time, and I should know as we are best of mates..hes had to put up with a lot, including getting propositioned (goes with the territory when you are a VP)....and even though I'm a bloke I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to admit he is one hell of a good looking bloke.

Very interesting selections by the cats, dropping a bit of youth and pace for slower stronger bodies. If it rains will u be a bit too top heavy. From all reports the two players dropped were pretty good last week. Looks like we will find out if the cats have made the right move in 24 hours.

So am I. Tom Cruise in a good paddock comes to mind........

i watched albion last week both players struggled i think albion have two good in you cant buy experience come finals time a coach should allways pick his best side regardless if you like or hate someone and the end of the day its about winning flags

Albion

In Zavarlos, Knezavic

Out Magnabosco, Stephens.

Savalas was inefective and did not return to the field after half time ? Kenezevic should never have played with a hamstring injury. Gone by quarter time. Stephens played well last week and was dropped for one of the above two. Reserves won against Hoppers who had both Venner and Frost in their starting 18. How did Stephens and Magnabosco go?

Spotty selectors have been under the pump of late. In came Mangan who played very well particularly in the first half when Albion were on song, Molan who added that extra big body up forward in a night not conducive to big forwards (Molan 2 Keenan 2), Langlands was hard at it and added that extra bite around the pill and Knight was terriffic in nullifying one of last weeks match winners in Carruso. Will Kelly be right next week from the Hammy and who goes out ??

As for the night? Bit hard to see although the players did their upmost under the conditions. St Albans did their best with BBQs and Bars around the ground but were a bit stiff with the weather.

Not sure who provided the 18? security guards but "money back" would be my suggestion!!

Weather kept all but the ardent WRFL Supporters away which was probably a good thing.

WRFL fu ck ed up again by having Albion Reserves in the Spotty Seniors Rooms which caused a minor concern as Spotty Seniors were coming out at the start of the game.Surely anyone would have had Willy Under 18s with the 2 Albion Sides and Hoppers 18s and Rserves with Spotty. Anyone that is except the WRFL !!!

Regarding Stephens and Magnabosco, young Stephens is the more likely prospect whereas Magnabosco doesn't seem up to it yet. He was a serviceable junior at best. Good bloke and hope Albion put some real time into him. Who knows, he could turn out to be a fair senior footballer.

As for Albion, is the dreaded 'away game' hoodoo a reality for them? A very good outfit on their own dung hill but have yet to beat a real contender on rival turf (correct me if I'm wrong). An amazing state of affairs. Perhaps the Cats supporters can shed some light on whether it's due to unfamiliar surrounds or selection issues.

Well the league welcomed the night game with the enthusiasm of a teenager getting his first bit of action (without his hand for once) and true to form, the preparation and performance was marred by fumbling, poor decision making and no doubt an over inflated positive assessment of how well the night went.

My tip is that if Kelly comes back, Knight will go. The pattern will most likely continue. I hope I'm wrong as Knight is a talent and a bit of faith during the finals could pay big dividends.

What a shame it will be if Knight is dropped he played a great game for 4 quaters really deserves to be in the side.....
Good luck Knighty hope they keep you did a great job last night....
AND WELL DONE TO THE REST OF THE TEAM GREAT GAME TO WATCH YOU PLAYED GOOD HARD FOOTY :)

I bet the WRFL is feeling proud. Night final, driving rain, freezing cold, terrible conditions for finals footy, and i'm sure you had to pay to watch. Lucky i stayed home and listened to an entertaining radio call!

Colts won the reserves, kicking the match winning goal with about a minute to go. Sunshine coughed up a handy 3/4 time lead too. If anyone knows that Sunshine supporter who was squeeling the whole time with a deafening pitch, please shoot her.

St Albans through in the seniors, they got out of the blocks strongly and set up a 22 pt lead by the first break. Hoppers were moving the ball forward but everything they did was rushed and the delivery into the forward line was scrappy at best. They clicked into gear in the second quarter with 7 goals, and went into half time just five points down. They went neck and neck for most of the second half, neither side getting more than about two goals in front until about halfway through the last when St Albans kicked out to a 20 point lead. They won by 13 points. Entertaining game.

Decent crowd, plenty of security people (who I dont think had anything much to do during the day) but Chirnside Park is a tip. Hopefully the middle at least dries out for later finals, having the centre circle at one edge of the square isn't ideal.

St Albans switching across the backline then finding someone loose through the middle was what set them up early, they looked good when it worked. Thought David Scott was very important in the ruck (and highlighted Hoppers lack of a decent ruckman), Leatch held Bakoulas in the first quarter but Bakoulas got on top there later in the day - but was inconsistent in front of goal. Ash Craig was exciting during the day and bobbed up with some important late goals. Hollow would've racked up the stats. A few kids out there and thats why it'd be hard to see St Albans being a genuine threat - McKerracher is great in the air and holds his own in senior footy. Jarrod Tuppen I cant say I paid much attention to him but there's not a lot of him and he might get tested by sides that have a tall and experienced forward line. Having seen Jacob Graham at the Western Jets a few weeks ago it astounds me that he plays senior WRFL footy. Opponents just have to apply a small amount of pressure and he'll give you the footy.

Hoppers probably did a decent job to score 17 goals with a fairly ordinary forward line. An area they need to improve. Their need for a monster to ruck was highlighted against Colts a few weeks ago and again today. And although their backline does a good job, virtually every player down there today gave height away to their opponent. Their bottom six players arent up to it. Tyrone Montebruno today did well up forward with I think three goals, but needed to go back and slot a fourth from about 35m in the last to take back the lead - instead he went for a high risk pass that didnt come off and rebounded up the other end for a St Albans goal. At times in finals guys need to be the one who want to settle down and take that pressure kick. Brayden Montebruno did some good inside work and Matt Smith is terrific at this level and I suspect they'll be keen to stop him going back to Williamstown next year.

Well a poor result for us on the weekend, didn't pick it by a country mile!
Going in with what I though was our strongest team of the year.

Zavarlos was out early and Knezavic looks done for the year.

Not good signs at all for Albion lets hope we can rebound against StAlbans, do or die match!!

Stephens did play well in round 18 against Spotswood and was very unlucky to be dropped, but who else was there to drop?

Good win by the reserves going in under dog's against hoppers.
Young Magna was outstanding on the wing and was amongst the top players kicking 3-4 goals.

Stephens was also good up forward.

Will be a very interesting week down at Albion.

GO CATS!!

Some massie roumors sweeping chirnside park today.
Firstly that frosty will be gone as coach maybe as soon as tonight, even though has 1 yr to run on a contract and will be paid out.
Adam Taylor tipped to take over with help from Buchanan.
Personaly thought hoppers played well today, they just lack a decent forward and ruckmen.
The other roumor is that the spotty skipper did not have a virus but in fact broke a few ribs last nite, he didn't take much part in the game and with minimal impact he would be keen to make up for that next week.
Last nite spotty were awesome, especially in the slippery conditions, showed alot of courage and skill all across the ground, harris was a standout for me along with isbister and langlands.
Will the coach be back next week??? surely if it's a hammy it takes longer than 9 days, with the double chance i doubt he will risk it.

IKNOWFOOTY, you seem to have a handle on the wrfl news are these roumors true or close to the mark.

Hey Beazer great win by you guys last night. I thought you had a good game. Isbister was very good and i like the way Boothy goes about it. didnt see much of big Razor, is there a problem with him??

Hey Rock07 i think your right on the money with the Frost rumour. I think there has been a lot of unrest at Hoppers this year with some players not happy with everything down at Hogans Rd. Look Frosty has been a champion player in the WRFL and has now coached for the last 3 years(i think) with one Grand Final appearance which was obviously very heart breaking. I really dont think him personally or the club have ever recovered from that. From an outsider looking in im not sure how well he communicates or really knows the TOTAL group from #1 to #60. IMO its time for Frosty to step down and let someone else have a crack and that someone will be Adam Taylor. As for Mark Buchanan i reckon he would be a really good assistant coach he really does know the game. As for 1 year left on his contract this is spot on.
I thought #25 Page showed some good signs and i really like the way #29
Smith goes about his footy. Mutton was very good Phipps also good and i thought Koutza was good. Thats why i thought it strange with 5 or 6 min remaining that Koutza and Leatchy were on the bench.

Big Ray has definatley done some damage to his ribs not sure if it happened in the game or he tried to take the injury into the game. Dont think he had a virus, think that one was a bit of leg spinner. But he will play next week because his big and tough so damaged ribs wont bother him. And surely if the coach has done a hammy he has got no hope of playing.

There were a few interesting hair styles in the Spotty huddle last night.

Yes great observation, molan had a very strange purple rinse, not to bad for the "HEAD" look alike, mcghie had a number 1 all over except at the back where he kept some length, a western suburbs special, but my favourite was the human tank BEAZER, this man has defied nature, just a short time ago his patch was slowly eroding but now he has a thick head of hair on top of his cranium, but best of all for beazer is the tips he has through it, very nice, i think we have a couple of colts boys keen to know his secret. Good stuff beazer :thumbsu:

Beazer has been seen in the company Brad Guerra, perhaps....nah.....maybe that's what the trip to Queensland was for? Yeh Yeh

Rock

Let me remind you of an old conspiracy theory that I wrote earlier. I spoke of Daniel Fraser's (two time reserves premiership coach...in a row mind you) sacking and the appointment of Taylor as the new reserves coach. I then went on to say that he would most likely succeed Frosty as the senior coach next year. Well, well, well....where there is smoke, there is fire and man we may just have a DISCO INFERNO goin on at Hogan's Road this mad Sunday!!! haha!

And you said my theories were just entertaining...PFFFFTTTTT!!!

P.s. I did say that it was Frosty's plan but don't tell anyone, ok?
