i didnt see the game but have heard spotty had a win on the weekend against bungareee,

lots of good signs for the team i was told,

rock if your excited about your young recruits from what im told some of the spotty youngtsers will be equal to the task

Yea no doubt , i still rate spotty the team to beat.
Hoppers have picked up 3 quality players along with a few others but have also lost some very good players so don't think they will be the force some are predicting, same with albion have picked up alot of players to add to their depth but no big guns to tear the comp apart and i'm not show if they will improve much at all as a unit.
Sunshine again have picked up a few quality player but lack key defenders to be the team to beat, colts i feel have held their ground and maybe spotty lost a little, so no disrespect to any clubs with above comments just think it will be a very even season and really could be a year for any of the top 5 teams to win a flag, no doubt injuries will play a big part.

Beazer - What was the ground like down Bell Post way ? How did Mitch play ?

A question for all ! How are the grounds coming along?

Our ground isn't in the best shape at the moment ! If it weren't for the great club/ committee people at the club, the game wouldn't have gone ahead. No coverage on the mat cricket wicket that runs through the centre. Being tackled into the pitch could have caused some damage.
The local council have no idea when it comes to protecting local clubs. Limited resources or not, grounds at least need to be safe to play on .............

alot of talk of where everyone thinks the ladder will end up after round 18. alot of talk on recruits and loss of players etc. taking this into account i believe the ladder will be as follows:
ALBION
COLTS
SPOTTY
HOPPERS
ST ALBANS

SUNSHINE
GLENORDAN
SUNSHINE HEIGHTS
ALTONA
WESTS

League B & F: Danny Jacobs (cut above any player in his league)
Goal Kicking: unless he gets injured, Butina

interesting how each persons prediction has coincided with their allegiance to their club. Rock thinks colts on top, trav thinks sunshine will be up there, the albion boys are putting themselves at the top etc....it makes for an interesting year ahead!!

Well i couldn't possibly say we would finish lower, hopefully we just make the top 3 that is our main aim.

Looks as though patak and mcghie are staying at spotty and crackers may even be a chance to return from what i hear, the loss of harris and crackers has been of set with theodore and montebello returning, isbister and sablich at willi but may even play some games, so with the quality kids also coming through and improving i'm still sticking with spotty as the team to beat.

not true, couldnt be happier to tell the truth.....thinks its just some of my mates from spotty stirring up a couple of blokes from yarra, all good

Spotty must be in trouble saw what seemed to be someone sowing grass on a very patchy ground and the players training with no lights probably spent to much money on players instead of the electric bill

FROM WHAT I HEAR COLTS COULD BE THE BIG SLIDERS SOME MAJOR LOSSES WITH PLAYERS HEADING OVERSEAS BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS HAVE THE OTHER TEAMS IMPROVED ENOUGH TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE FIVE SITTING ON THE FENCE I JUST THINK ALBION ARE THE TEAM TO BEAT AND FROM ALL REPORTS HAVE ENOUGH DEPTH TO CHALLENGE FOR THE LAST DAY IN SEPT.

LOL.....Yep we are gone, lucky to win a game.

As i said we will be every bit as good as last year, we will have a few missing round 1 but after the easter break should be full steam ahead.

Just for the record

DEPARTURES ARRIVALS
BRANNAN DALEY(MARBY PARK) YET TO BE cleared
CRITCH WINTERS
HOWSE DAVEY(VFL PORT MELB.)
MILLEN PITCHFORD(TALL CHB,returns from o.s)
TAYLOR 3 kids from will u/18's 2 of which were
very impressive on saturday.
Also another player that played in
montmorency's gf team last year and
also played northern bullants 3 years
ago, he just moved into the area.

So we have lost some quality but feel we have replaced them very well plus adding some quality youth, there are no guarantees in this game but we should be there abouts again.

Well that is your opinion but i think Daley and winters will be better than any player that the cats have picked up, micklethwait is older than me, east keilor boys all 2nd div players, lets just wait and see how philpot goes against julier. The new player that walked in off the street last nite has got some big wraps on him from people that have seen him play. So maybe not the high profile names as the hoppers recruits but none the less still some quality and in my opinion better than the cats second rate recruits, next you will be telling me dicko is a good defender, surely he has retired.......lol

hey boys is there any club here that would be interested in fielding an under 18's praccy game this saturday??? i am with the wyndhamvale falcons and we had organised a full day of games with another club but unfortunatly they have had to pull out of the u18 game only due to lack of numbers. We are therefore after another side to play JUST THE U18's. the ground is at our ground in wyndhamvale, we have already got the umpires organised and all other things that need to be done match day all we need is another club top play the U18's. if there is anyone interested please email me on nathan.evans@live.com or go to my details page on here and call me on my mobile. thanks guys hope there is something available for us. any club would be handy.

Haven't seen him on the training track but there is a guy with bright red hair that has been training at the back of the group............calling himself DUCKO.....with an Irish accent:confused:

Winters has made team the year a few times, ask any small backman in the comp if hes a big name.

Daley will be up there with the top recruits this year to the comp and will go close to CHB in team of the year. Finished 2nd i think in Marby`s b&f last year, former junior of the club.

But only time will tell.

Marbys b&f went Ayres, Laverde, crawford and they were streets ahead of the rest. So unless ur talking about the 2's b&f Daley was no where to be found.

Speaking on Marby, they play albion this week. Its their first real hitout and the cats will be almost at full strength. Should be a good indication to see where both sides are at

WRFLFAN was going on what i had said to him, but the point was daley only played 11 games and out of those games was in their top two vote getters and that was from marby's president. Will be a very good pick for the colts regardless....

Willie boys will be cleared soon

So who are teams playing this week? when? where?
Also how are teams prepared going in to round 1
COLTS are playing know on sunday at know.

I seriously think the wrfl have made a mistake playing a week before easter, most clubs have had limited time on their ground, along with hardly any match play. Personaly i could not understand what the big rush is all about. What are others thoughts???

Agree with that. With most clubs being unable to use grounds and have access to rooms until the end of March it would make things much easier to start after Easter.

I am really not sure of any benefit that is gained by starting the week early? I would be interested to see if anybody could come up with any possible benefit at all that the league gets with the early start?

I agree I know the City of Maribyrnong were not happy that they started the week before, and have given the league a please explain... it gives them no time to work on the grounds in between seasons.. Crazy crazy

Yes thats him. The same one that trained at marby park last night.

Albion v marby
st albans v avondale heights

they're the only 2 games i know of.

Definatly think they should have started the season after easter.

Sunshine play Corowa which will be another solid hit out, finally playing some good teams in practice matches which should have us set for round one. Have a couple missing however this week due to various reasons but will be good to gain a couple that missed last week.
