St Albans will murder Altona
Albion will murder West
Sunshine V Hoppers could go either way. Home team might take points.

GLENORDENARY V S HEIGHTS heights by 3 pts in the closest game of the round emotions will play a part for heights to have its 1st ever win in a grade it could be match of the round not for skill but a close game

sliinSPOTSWOOD V P COLTS i hate to say this spotty by 5 goals colts to de to the bottom half of the top five imo but colts will win there next 3 games just wait and see if i'm on the money

ST ALBANS V ALTONA st albans by 12 goals should just smash them altona are a very young side who are still 3 or 4 years away from playing finals unless they recruit some big bodies with experience in a hurry st albans should be hungry after a pretty good 2008 and should build on that

WEST V ALBION albion to kick the sweep 30+ goals there should be a mercy rule

SUNSHINE[YELLOWBELLYS] V HOPPERS hoppers by 4 goals yc r soft but so r hoppers

AND MY FINAL TIP IS BEAZER GET THERE EARLY FOR THE TWO'S IF YOUR IN THE ONE'S HOPPERS ARE GOING NOWHERE

Don't know about that from what i heard to-night,Spotty by at least 10 goals from the Colts players i heard will be missing this week, just wish we at Hoppers had them first up but with the team we have this year our turn will come soon enough.

Think it will be close to 15 goals we will lose by.
If not spotty are in alot of trouble this year....time will tell.

ur kidding arent ya ??
glenorden will smash heights....

Just noticed on the WRFL website West Footscray have been very active in the last few weeks signing some quality players. Danny Warren has just put in a clearance, does anyone know if this is the same fella that had a year at Albion?, if so can play.

Well round 1 is almost upon us, alot of personal added to the teams that didn't make it, while the top 2 have lost some quality players, so it should make for an interesting year

MY TIPS

HOPPERS v sunshine, i think both side will improve alot, although i think hoppers have recruited some very good players and at home will be to strong

ALBION v west a walk in the park for the cats, will more than likely be the team to beat in 09 if they stay fit and healthy, easy win here

ST.ALBANS v altona think the saints may slide a little this year but do have a bright future, if this was at altona i would have tipped them but the saints are better at home, spooner to kick 10 on his way to the ton

GLENORDEN v sunny heights, i know nothing about heights expcept they have a close group and will play for each other, glenorden have picked up ok and will improve this year and are building the club slowly, should have an easy win here.

COLTS v spotty we are very depleted(7 out) through injury and wedding some big names missing but we get the chance to see if others can step up and play some good senior footy which i believe they can and will. It will be a tight game but i think we mite get up by 15 points. Obviously spotty have also lost alot of players over the summer but i expect the game to still be a great battle and of high standard.

We are playing away knackers.

As for Spotty, they may not have picked up the 'names' that they lost but have picked up almost as well as they lost. 100 goals isnt easy to replace but midfielders are and they have done that in Theodore, Delaney, Dumbleton and Sharpe, aswell as the fossil Montebello. Dont be fooled by what everybody saying about Spotty falling off the pace, after Saturdays performance they are still the side to beat I reckon. And Port, Albion and hopefully us will be thereabouts.

Sorry didn't check where u were playig.

Spotty have done well who they have picked up but they are 6 to 8 goals worse of than last year, simpson, keenan and isbister is a massive hole, theodore is a good player but harris was great in all aspects of footy, another huge loss is sablich and boothey both very courageous and dependable. No doubt they will still be a good side but in my opinion not the class above they were but still every chance to be right up there again.
I think you mite be trying to play down hoppers chances.....

Played in most if not all of north shore's 6 flags in a row during the 90's, woulda been the best local side in victoria back then. Also played in belmont lions 1st ever premiership in 2007.Very good player but would be gettin a bit long in the tooth these days.

Round 1 is gonna be a belter, heres what I think.

Sunshine vs Hoppers - Sunshine are known front runners and Hoppers have been a nemesis for them for a few years now, Sunshine have picked up a couple but dont look overly flattering, they are a strong team at home and if given the chance to 'front run' they can be dangerous. Hoppers seem to have recruited really well and what was there weakness last season in there forward line is now there strongest line, Dave Mitchell/Michael West combo could cause trouble for opposition teams. Hoppers by 43 points

Albion vs West Footscray - Great additions for the Cats, Micklewaite will add some steal, toughness and experience to a team that loves the physical side of the game. Philpot will give them first use for alot of the year, his not in the class of Julier but will be one of the better rucks in the league. At ground Level Turner is great and up forward they have there gun in Butina. Wests are hopeless and are irrelevant. Albion by 134 points

St Albans vs Altona - Not much news out of the Saints camp, imo they have overachieved last season and I think this year we may see them slide a little. Massive losses in Hollow and Bakoulos but Spooner will now have full rein of that forward line. Arena will control things from HB and will be the class out of defence. Altona with new coach Anthony Eames at the helm will no doub be a disciplined side, they lack class and probably need 3 or 4 years to develop into a constantly competitive team. St Albans by 63 points

Spotswood vs Port Colts - Match of the round by a mile. Spotty have lost some real quality but from all accounts still look as polished as ever. Have heard Luke Molan is no longer the lazy oaf he has been the last few years and is putting in the work and could well be a 100 goal kicker. If fit he could do anything and could well take over from Keenan and could fill the void/ Colts are obviously going into this underdone and are without D.Jacobs, they do have class around the field and will get first use all day out of Julier. Spotswood by 22 points

Glenorden vs Sunshine Heights - No idea about any of these 2, the Hawks have picked up a couple I think, one from Hoppers in Becker who will add a bit. Heights no idea and dont care to be honest, they will either be relegated or finish 2nd last. I think there is more upside with the Hawks and they are now a match harden div 1 team who can compete at least with the bug guys. Glenorden by 75 points

Which cookie user wrote this report?????

Julier will not be playing along with jacobs, bonnett, winters along with and 3 others, also we have probably 4 or 5 that are well under done and are playing their first game, no excuses either but i expect we will have a good showing and rise to the challenge of our nemisis over the last two years.

spotty being 6 to 8 goals worse off probably not a bad thing, may have to work hard for some of there wins

but then i reckon the new players coming into the team will be worth at least 4 to 5 goals a game so that makes them probably only 2 to 3 goals worse off

OK we will agree to disagree, i watched spotty last week and they have droped off a fair bit on last year, i suppose to put a figure on it is not an easy thing to do. KEENAN, SIMPSON, ISBISTER, DENNERLEY,SABLICH,BEASLEY,BOOTHEY,HARRIS, are all quality players and very hard to replace and although monte and theodore are good players having a year off and coming back after injury is never easy.
No doubt will still be a good side and even a top 3 chance but not the power they were, only my opinion and in the mind of spotty people that counts for shit...lol
see u tomorrow.

Our boys can't wait to get out there tomorrow!!! We were in the same position as Sunshine Heights three years ago, and it should be a great indicator as to how much we have improved as a whole football club. Also looking forward to having a beer afterwards,A leave pass after the first game is always vaild !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game of the round this week is Sunshine Vs Hoppers. Both teams look to have recruited well, Hoppers have a very quick midfield that teams will have trouble with, watching them last week they will have no problems running games out, very fit team. Hoppers in a close one

Spotty Vs Port, this would have been a cracker if Port weren't missing a third of their best team. Although the strong rivalry will bring the best out of Port, I think Spotty will win by 5-6 goals

Albion Vs West: Albion to will win by a large margin

St Albans Vs Altona : Going from the preseason form Altona to go down to St Alban

Who are the players that play in hoppers midfield other than murphy, thomas(if he is playing), obviously beaser will play around there but quick he is not. Who other than west, mitchell, beasley, chamberlain and another young ruckmen have hoppers picked up???? thought the loss of leatch, murphy, burke and gannon mite actually have hurt their run a bit.

Reece miles played through the midfield on the weekend, as did Mitch and another young kid with blonde hair.
With them picking up the forwards you mentioned, it will realease Dave Clonan back to his best spot at CHB.Last year he plugged holes where they needed him forward or back they are much stronger with him leading their back 6.

The blonde guy is Matty Smith, played last year at Williamstown...

Gannon never played! those other blokes didnt play midfield! K.Murph was a permanent half forward... Burke is mid 30s and wasnt a runner and Leatch played of half back! alot more run this season than last...
