AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
well here we are the morning of the first round.
rain yesterday would have settled the dust
cool temperatures expected.
all we need now is a conspiracy theory to start the season
Filo where the f... are you ya?
Altona by 13 points.
26 point turn around with about 5 minutes to go.
good work by Altona, great start for them to the year, Eamesy will be rapt.
Who played well, goalkickers etc
I eat humble pie, spotty smashed us today and are every bit as good as last year, no sarcasm intended but clear premiership favourites now in my opinion.
We have alot of work to do but i'm sure we will get back on track.
Well Rock, what do we know that we didn't know this morning ?
You've moved house. Rock in Spotswood just didn't seem right !!
Spotty and PMC will both be up there. Colts without yourself, Julier, Bonnett, D.Jacobs to name a few. Spotty with a couple more youngsters in the seconds as well as Langlands, Patak and Waldron missing.
Albion look the goods but West look like they will struggle.
Altona's strong youth policy with the experience of Eames and Taylor at the helm look to have improved. St Albans may well have slipped but had the game in the bag with 5 mins to go !!
Glenorden on the improve with goalkickers and best players looking like a Hoppers Crossing past players invitation list. Sunshine Heights could be in for a long year.
Scores indicate that Hoppers held sway for most of the day but Sunshine came over the top in the last quarter. Superior Fitness ??
So, top teams look like being (in no particular order) Spotty, Colts, Albion, Sunshine and Hoppers with Altona possibly shifting St Albans down a rung. Looks familiar doesn't it ??
Glen Orden Will beat Heights
Spotty V Colts could go either way. Colts been written off on forum for the start of the year. write them off at your peril.
St Albans will murder Altona
Albion will murder West
Sunshine V Hoppers could go either way. Home team might take points.

Still not buying into the Albion hype. They will look the goods when they beat Spotty, Colts and any other real contender away from home.
Orden beat nobody and true test comes when they play Colts at Colts in round 2. We'll see how they contend with not only the Colts players but also the Beer Van contingent. Should be some choice insults flying over the fence.
Nothing to read into regarding the Hoppers V Sunshine game. You can back the Kangas in to do something great and inspirational early in the season but can they sustain it?
St Albans are enigmatic, much like their coach in his playing days at Footscray. A good confidence booster for the lads out at Altona but Eamesy will be keen to keep a lid on it.
theres a quote above and one here:ST ALBANS V ALTONA st albans by 12 goals should just smash them altona are a very young side who are still 3 or 4 years away from playing finals unless they recruit some big bodies with experience in a hurry st albans should be hungry after a pretty good 2008 and should build on that
guess what altona didn't get murdered or they didn't get smashed so stik that up ya's
I went down and watched the St Albans game again..Altona played the better footy. Altona more cleaner & desisive with possession into the forward line
spoke to a couple of st albans guys over beer in that fantastic sportsmens club they have their, they indicated at least 7 walk up start first players out of the side yesterday. a couple of blokes still injured & 3 or 4 clearences not yet complete. they will probably pick up a bit. much better side through the year
Agreeed not takin anythin away from altona tho..They had a couple injured and a few clearances that hadnt came threw aswell so i heard.
Im still getting over the port Vs spotty scores massive win looks like spotty are right up there again.
Me too hardly slept a wink since.....i think spotty maybe even better than the last two years, monte and theodore have come back in awesome form add some quality youngsters and delaney from glenroy the looked awesome, plus langlands and patak to come???? 3 peat looking ominious.

How many to come back into your side by the return bout between Port and Spotty?
YC are on the board with 4 massive points against what some have said are the favourites for the flag. Douglas and king dominated the whole day, and douglas would have to be favourite for the comp b&f for the second time after a massive game. hoppers looked good for most of the day but very unfit couldn't run the game out.
the colts look down and out early but that way the case in 2008. spotty could very easily go 3 in a row.
altona was the upset. good on you blokes. new system in play but come round 3 i don't think you will get the 4 points
and albion even though they won doesn't seem very convincing? division two sides smashed west by over 20 goals in practice matches. did they have players out? 100 points is 100 points but for a mob they thinks they are going to be up there its a poor effort. west footscray are ther worst local div 1 side EVER!
my tips for the 5 are
spotty
sunshine
port
hoppers
albion/altona.glenorden all border

yc have always been soft thats why come september there never there the yellow on there backs suits there syle of play pretendersDidnt YC beat hoppers? Since when were hoppers favourite to win the flag? If YC finish any higher than 5th the comp has gone to the dogs. Need to replace about 10 pea hearts before YC are contenders, dream on Flying High...........
Bring on the Derby, i'm sure the cats will be ready and waiting!
