I did always feel sorry for my mates, but I ended up helping a few of them and semi-tutoring them, so it made me feel better about it :D
We had a recorder ensemble, that played every monday morning at assembly. Looking back I feel sorry for every single teacher in the room that had to withstand that, you don't understand what it's like when you're still in primary school!

Writing guitar based songs can be easy. Just grab G, D, Em, C, mix them up a bit, get a melody, and you're done a basic one :D You don't even need to know any theory, it's how I started. And then we got into modes and 17th century music theory, and then I realised I knew nothing. Nothing at all. :( But jazz is fun now :D

See I started out with an electric, and then moved to an acoustic, and I love my acoustic, give me a slow acoustic jam and i'm in heaven. It's my baby :hearts: But you can't beat busting out some RATM on the electric! I'm pretty sure I have 2 electrics, a couple of acoustics, and a classical guitar somewhere.
My band's actually just recorded an album, but now we have to go through the pain of mixing/mastering it. I'll send you some stuff when I actually have some decent-sounding tracks instead of me just messing around haha
I tutor a few high school girls and that's enough for me, hahaha. I do help my mates out a lot as well though.
Oh god, assembly. I always thought primary school assemblies were bad 'til I got to my high school. Awful. So glad they have nothing of the sort in uni, haha.

Yeah, I mean I can do that, I more just mean it'd be cool to be able to write a piece for a few instruments (and lyrics) and put it all together. Something is love to be able to do I guess.
Jazz is cool to play, but not something I'd choose to listen to over and over, haha.

I started out with a reaaaaally shitty acoustic (we're talking completely stuffed - if it was in tune high up the neck it'd be out of tune low down the neck) and then got an Epiphone Dot, which I absolutely love. Awesome colour too. Looks great in my room gathering dust, along with the keyboard...hahaha.
What kinda band is it?

So you're into the high school girls. Interesting ;) Assembly in high school was good. As in it was the only time everybody in the entire school was in one place, so you can go explore the school by yourself or with a few mates and hang out anywhere you wanted.

Ah I understand what you mean. I just started really getting into music theory, learnt about phrasing, intervals, scales, polyrhythms, syncopation, all that sort of stuff and just applied it to everything, and now it's second nature to just use weird intervals or rhythms, and it sounds natural which is always good. But jazz is amazing! The extensions and the swing, man it's all about the swing! I might have been brainwashed into it by my course...

Yep same I just got a $50 one from Billy Hyde and played that for a while. I've got a better one and it's alright, but I really want a Maton. Matons are just the best Acoustics that i've ever played. The Dot's an awesome guitar, i've never played it but I know a couple of mates that have them and they look and sound amazing. I've got an Epiphone Les Paul, I love the Les Paul shape, and the warmer tones you can get when it's clean. Honey burst I love it!

We've been called punk, pop punk, alternative, rock, progressive, hard rock, soft rock so in that sort of spectrum. Alternative rock is probably the best way to put it though. We've been likened to Coldplay, Blink 182, Rise Against, Dashboard Confessional. I don't really have a set genre that I write to, I just write whatever the hell I want, and if it turns into prog metal then awesome. If it turns into full blown 3 chord pop punk then even better :D

Yay for world domination..

And when u play at the MCG Timmy can u make sure its before the Grand Final that the bulldogs win pls.??
That's surely not too much to ask.. :)

We'll block out 2016-2021, so that we can play before each GF of our 6-peat :D

Who isn't? Hahaha nahh they're family friends who I'm just helping out a bit. :p
Ours was compulsory and they were really really strict about it. Was horrible.

I understood about three words of that sentence, I'm doing pretty well. :thumbsu: I do try to write stuff, it just doesn't turn out as well as I hope for, hahaha.
It's Cherry Red, had to choose between that and Honey Burst. I made the right choice. ;)

I like most of those bands so I'd probably like yours, haha. Then again I'll listen to pretty much absolutely everything except full on pop, screamo and country, so as long as you don't start yokelling or something I'd say you're safe. ;)

Well ours was compulsory too. Just ours wasn't strict about it luckily. Or maybe they were and they just didn't care that we went :p

Well done! Theory just helps you get what's in your head onto the page really, or that's what I use it for haha
Nah mate, Honey Burst all the way! Although Cherry Red probably looks better on a Dot... Usually I just see black ones floating around though.

So we need to make a metal-country song. Verses are screamo, choruses are yodelling. Good plan :D

I went to a private school that was strict about absolutely everything, hahaha. You were lucky if you got away with missing one.

I'm too lazy to learn the theory though, hahaha. Bores me to tears. I'd rather pretend I'm writing awesome stuff. ;) I've written a few cool guitar riffs and I can put drum beats to them easily, but past that I'm clueless. Sibelius is a dream.
Honey Burst looks cheap as hell on the Dot. Wanted the black one but I fell in love with the red when I saw it, which is weird cos I hate red. You're making me want to play it. :p

Yodelling, that's the word I was looking for. I'm clearly running on too little sleep.
But please don't ever do that, hahahaha. Write the next Cotton Eye Joe and I'll love you forever though. ;)

Or the many other people who may read this I guess. It's the risk we take.
On the other hand, he could become world famous after mentioning it on here...

After which we'd command 10% of the profits since it was all us. :)

Oh I went to a private school as well. The teachers just loved me and I was the good one so I could NEVER do anything wrong ;)

Yeah I know a few people like that, I just love theory for some reason, people think i'm strange :( So I set myself challenges, like write a song with a time signature change, or write a song using every chord in the key, or write a song with a key change in it. I like it. And I hate Sibelius as well, i'd much rather just handwrite it. I'm assuming you have Guitar Pro? Or if you're cheap like me Tux Guitar? :p
But you know you want to get it and play it right now. It's there, it's singing to you and wants to be picked up and given a loving touch. Do it. Do it now!!!

After 10 years I still don't know if I love or hate that song! But it has a fiddle. I want a fiddle :(

Seriously. You can trust me not to disrespect your band or your music.
I am genuinely interested Timmy.

I will give you a hint. We only have one guitar in the band, and it's a 4 piece. Let the search commence! :D

See you guys are trying to make money off me. That's all you want, you just want my money!

Well the jokes on you cause I'm pretty much broke :D

Hahahaha. Either my school was way stricter, or I wasn't liked by the teachers...both possibilities. ;)

You are strange. Even music theorists hate music theory! What's wrong with you? :p
Time signature changes are fun, haha. I remember this song I learned on the sax years and years ago that had a time signature change once every ten bars. It was mental but so fun.
Handwriting it takes forever, plus on Sibelius I can hear a shitty little MIDI of what I've done and be proud that I can write better music than Miley Cyrus, even using shitty MIDIs.
Yeah I've got GP. Cool little program. Have heaps of music for it as well.
I might play something tomorrow if I can find anything to play...hahaha.

It's my jam. Until the chick starts singing, then you restart it, hahaha. A mate and I play it constantly during racing games and we drive our best when it's playing. :p
