May as well keep the roll going. The first time I saw the Jets was at the Bridge Hotel in Buronga, just over the border from Mildura. They were pretty damn good, loud as ****, obnoxious and pretty disgusting. Dave kept spitting on the ceiling and trying to catch the gobby in his mouth. We laughed a lot.

The headline was an unknown band from the UK called The Almighty. They were brilliant. Ended up getting on the piss with them after the gig. Anyway...

I used to go up there to pick grapes in January for a few years. Used to camp between that hotel and the river.

Metallica have just announced an Australian tour, with Suicidal Tendencies as one of the openers. Somebody on a Facebook group said "i'm not paying $300 to go see Suicidals and then walk out". :D

All I wanted was a Pepsi and she wouldn’t give it to me!

I’ve been reading the thread and was going to post something about how the Australian accent is particularly well suited to hard rock singing, but while doing a bit of research I came across this… I‘ve honestly never been more wtf.

BUFFALO - Aussie, early 70s. Pete Wells on bass, was later the legendary slide guitarist from Rose Tattoo.

I hear lots of bits of other bands in this on certain songs (not all shown here), early70s UFO, mids 70s Ted Nugent, early 90s Kyuss.

Only Want You For Your Body is an absolute ripper of an album.

I first saw/heard The Almighty around 1993 on some live festival video, can't remember specifically which... convinced myself I had to go out and find their "Powertrippin" CD straight away. Couldn't find it anywhere for almost 20 years. JB HI Fi had heaps of copies of the following album "Crank" though.... in the $2.99 bin!

Good CCR cover

The original 5 man jam. Acts like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains all had some pretty big success going the acoustic route but Tesla were the originators. Great band btw. Psychotic Supper, Mechanical Resonance had a heavy rotation in the groggy household back in the day.

Brilliant band. "Little Suzi" & live jam of "Signs" are two of the best covers you will ever hear.

Yeah they one of those bands i sort of overlooked them and scorpions a bit in my halcyan days, you were also a bit limited with the cost of music then. But really like them and have therm on a lot of playtime these days. I suppose we were spoilt really compared to the meagre offerings of today. The good thing is you can sort of go back and rediscover some of these acts.
