What could we get for Cale Morton in trade week?

What of Rhys Palmer though? I'd have thought he'd be the most gettable for the Giants.
Palmer is their out of contract player from Freo, Sandilands in a trade for a selection in their minidraft - ie. O'Meara.

I'm not sure why GWS would want a 30 year old though. Maybe take a couple of players around this age, but don't spend big for a guy who's only got a few seasons left. Especially when everything we've heard from GWS has been about their plan to come into premiership contention after the Suns have had their time.

Palmer is down right putrid.

Cant believe a guy who tore it up in his first year has turned to shit so quickly. (i know he's had a big injury but so has Barlow).

After watching Friday night's match against Collingwood im left with no doubt that his kicking is worse than Bartram's, seriously, its that bad.

Freo would be laughing all the way to the bank if GWS have to give them a compo pick for Palmer. If only we could be so lucky with Morton.

Hold on, back it up a few posts.

Are we actually suggesting that GWS would be interested in Sandi?

Besides the obvious marketing implications, how would it be a good use of resources?
Well because they could bring a young midfield up on a drip feed pretty much, think about how effective a young midfield with Scully, Palmer, Ward are with a kid ruckman, and then imagine them with Sandilands, they would be instantly competive in the middle at least

I'd stick with him personally. I know he's been a fair spud so far but i haven't given up yet. There is talent there but he's always second guessing himself and playing with no confidence. Plus not sure we'd get much for him atm anyways. If we keep him, he needs a big one next year.

He's what 6'4 and pick four in a draft. He was highly rated in all the draft estimates also right? MFC should have just played the kid every game instead of 1 week in, 1 out if you know what I mean.

Watched him pretty closely on Sunday and in my humble opinion he has absolutely no confidence in himself at all. He seems to doubt every move he makes on the field. We've all seen him play some good football right? I know I have.

Sorry to intrude, but couldnt help see the similarities between Morton and Masten. Both high picks, both showed a bit a some stage and both havent really panned out that well so both clubs want to move em on when they are at their worst. Probably best hoping he gets back, heck Masten got 31 touches and 3 goals, Morton coming good isn't out of the realm of possibility is it?

Also I dont think Sandi would betray Freo, he stays at Freo, will go down as one of their all time greats ( all ready is) but moreso he is old and who wants to be remembered as bailing from their club during their time of need whilst you chase a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. just an opinion.

I understand the reasoning behind keeping Cale, his currency is low right now and he could have lots of upside but I think this is just chasing our losses. We should cut him loose and if he comes good, fantastic, apparently he's a great kid. People have suggested that he has played good games for us but has he? The only time I thought he was playing well was when he was a feisty tagged at the start of his career, he used to love getting in the face of big name players. I don't know what has happened to that combative attitude but without it he's shot.

Morton pick 4 to West coast for GAff pick 4...simple but wait if you deal in the next 30 days we will throw in Matthew Bate for free..no return policy possible.
The original op morton and our 1st pick say 12 isnt far off the mark for butcher.....
But i would trade him to west coast for a established inside mid...we need 2 i reckon.and a establish forward...for 2012

You're not going to get much confidence running away from the ball. All his possessions on Sunday were uncontested.

If those trades work im sure we can trade Matty Warnock and our 4th round pick for Hartlett or maybe Hill...

Something to consider. Our very own Cale Morton is doing some crap MFC dance skit for the GF footy show with Watts, Tappy, Trenners and Gawny (no scully though..). I can only assum that he intends to stay at the Dee's otherwise you wouldn't bother

Cam Bruce says hai

I am not one to get on here to bag players Morton is just a good VFL footballer he has a high number of possesions at that level.

When he comes up to AFL level he just does not get to enough contests or run to the right areas to recieve the footy.

one word to describe him is he is lazy let him go and see if he can make it at another club.

did someone say lazy??

This is spot on, very lazy off the field as well. We all say; "a couple more preseasons in the gym and he will be a star" true, but he hates the gym. Young Cale think's his Chris Judd.... Old tickets Morton. Catch ya in the orange black and white.

Could trade him for GWS' last first round pick. Would be around 20 right? Seems an alright deal for all sides. We get pick 20 and draft a big forward. GWS gets a former pick 4 who is hardly old, and if they get him in the right place he could become a solid player for them in about 5 years. He's struggling to get a game here, should be guaranteed one there. Works out perfect.

You assume there is a worth while big forward to draft?

I would want a pick between 10-18 for him seriously... because anything after that is unders, shit... we got pick 11 for Brock Mclean and 16 for Travis Johnstone, and they were far older
