Richmond
Gains Polak and pick 13
losses pick 8

Collingwood
Gains pick 8
Losses Tarrant

Fremantle
Gains Tarrant
Losses pick 13 and Polak

This was reported on channel 10 news do you guys think its worth risking are chance of obtaining the player we want in the draft for Polak.

Thoughts?

collingwood gets the win loses a player who is only trouble and doesnt even want to be around the club sometimes and gain pick 8 for him.

Freo would want to gain more than pick 13 for polak.

I'd rather trade Tuck to Carlton for Thornton and then with our first pick pick up either Joel Selwood or Albert Proud to replace Tuck

This trade is missing one thing, a fringe player from Richmond to go to Collingwood as we will not give up Tarrent for a pick alone, and it would be unfair to ask of a player form Freo as well as a pick. Obviously Richmond supporters will be outraged, but these are the facts: Also we could include JCloke in the deal to Richmond as Terry has expressed interest in the pasts.

Honestly who do you think would be included in the trade as Richmond are doing extremely well out of this one… No crap like rodan or roach.

njac3 you say no crap like roach or rodan yet you are willing to put crap like J cloke into a trade. if you are willing to give us J cloke we are willing to give you roadan roach or even humm if you are lucky.

pick 8 is more than collingwood deserves for tarrant, they are the big winners here. it looks an okay deal on our behalf, but we don't know just how good the difference between pick 8 & pick 13 will turn out to be. bit of a risk really, i'm undecided.

Pass Pass Pass.

The difference between pick 8 and 13 is either getting someone like Riewoldt, Proud or Selwood...or getting someone like Armitage, Collard or Reid. I know which one I'd prefer...

What are you all talking about???? you are downgrading your first round pick 5 places and getting a player that was a number 4 pick in the so called super draft, (judd, ball etc).... And further to the equasion you have no young tall defenders. Polak is 194cm and is a late developer, i wood love to have him at the pies. How about this one.... Pick 13 and Polak for TAZ, no need for Richmond in this one, good luck with pick 8

Yeah and thats really going to work when you have said yourslef you think Polak will turn into a good player, pick 8 is probably better than you should really get for Tarrant, pick 13 and a player as you said was picked up in the super draft kills Tarrant off completly, in the trade with us you get a good pick, we get a tall defender and Freo get a forward who they want.

I wouldnt mind Armitage and I don't think Riewoldt will go in the top 10, the only real reason he is so highly considered is because he has the same same as a superstar player in the AFL but as we have seen with many players before just cause you have the same last name it doesn't make you a good player ie:Matthew Ball(Luke Ball's brother).

Fair enough...apparently Terry likes young Jack, that's why I mentioned it.

I guess what I'm worrying about is that only 7 clubs have picks before us and it only takes one or two to take a speculative pick, meaning a better player could drop to us at pick 8. I mean, how much would we kick ourselves if someone like Hansen, Thorp or maybe Selwood was available at pick 8...and we watch from 5 spots back as the maggies snap them up... :(

with the 13th pick we can get nathan brown who is a gun and someone we can build our backline around when gaspar and hall pissoff

downside is that WE LOSE OUR 8TH PICK!!!

if thorp or luenberger drops down and collingwood pick them up when we could of had them then we stuffed up something stupid

we need to trade players because rebuilding sides cant give away their best picks, this is where the hawks had thommo, hay etc cleaned up

wallace will keep miller in check :thumbsu:

my sentiments exactly skybeau, and it happens every draft, the pies did it last year with thomas, the year before the hawks with jordan lewis and doggies with williams i think his name was....

that trade sucks ass for us, pies getting way too much, pick 8 for tarrant is a joke and then they try and tell us its not enough LOL! pick 8 should be out of bounds (especially in this draft) for anything but the very cream of the crop and Polak does not qualify..

Granted it could be bad but the fact is this draft goes deep and should be deep enough that we can pick a player up of the same calibre of Thorp, Selwood etc.

Look at last year though, instead of going for Mitch Clark who was ready to come into an AFL side straight away we picked up a scrawny kid who we probably could have picked up with our second pick if we wanted him that much.

5 picks could mean alot, in any other draft I would be spitting chips at giving up 5 picks but with the depth in this draft it should not hopefully matter that much.

how bout
richmond gets pick 10 & polak / Lose pick 8, Krakour
Collingwood get Pick 8 and pick 13 / loss pick 10 tarrant
Fremantle get tarrant + Krakour / lose polak and pick 13

who feels they get the rub, or who gets rubbed?

Not bad, Miller did say we would need to get rid of a player to make room for Polak's contract, but would Freo want Krak or would Collingwood want him more.

Polak has walked out on the Dockers and stated his preference is to go to Punt Rd with Carlton his second option. - http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,20553586%255E20322,00.html

RICHMOND goalsneak Andrew Krakouer is available as the Tigers try to find room in their salary cap to make a play for Docker Graham Polak. - http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,20553888%255E19742,00.html

Would have thought it was budgetry rather than salary cap with Krak. Making sure we keep making a profit and also leaving room to expand in the salary cap in the future when our young players start blossoming and earning new contracts.

I think we'll either try to do a straight swap with Freo or trade Krak elsewhere and ontrade the pick to Freo (as I doubt Freo are after another goalsneak). Maybe a swap of 3rd round picks involved as well. Don't think it will take any more than that or Polak can walk into the PSD to Carlton and Freo lose him with only a very late draft pick as compo. Freo can work out the Tarrant deal themselves without us having to get caught up in it. Can't see us swapping any first round picks.

Then again, maybe we would swap our first and second round picks:eek:

In other developments yesterday:
■ St Kilda will not give up its second-round pick for Peter Everitt but confirmed interest in Bomber Jason Johnson, while indicating Stephen Milne was up for trade.
■ Richmond says it can only secure Polak by trading one of its players to pay for the deal.
■ Geelong indicated that forward Steve Johnson was available for trade at the right price.
■ Adelaide's Luke Jericho is out of contract and being sought by several Victorian clubs.
While the Tigers are the preferred club for Polak, football director Greg Miller said Richmond would have to lose a player to fit Polak into its budget — despite the club's anticipated profit of nearly $1 million.
He confirmed the Tigers were prepared to acquire him via exchanges of picks, such as trading down (from 8 to 13 and 26 to 31) in the draft's first two rounds. They have told other clubs they have a surplus of inside midfielders. The Dons told clubs that they want a first-round pick for Johnson.
Bulldog Shane Birss may be traded, with St Kilda believed to be interested. Kangaroo Joel Perry has been a source of minor interest from Richmond.

I can tell you Armitage is clearly on our radar!

And he is what we look for in our draft picks, will develop into a quality on-baller.

Will probably still get him at 13, but this deal looks a lot more attractive to me.

Richmond Get: Pick 10 & Graham Polak.
Collingwood Get: Pick 8 & Pick 13 & Greg Tivendale
Fremantle Get: Chris Tarrant

Then/

Kangaroos Get: Andrew Krakouer and Pick 26
Richmond Get: Joel Perry and Pick 21

WE GAIN: Graham Polak, Joel Perry, Pick 10 & Pick 21.
WE LOSE: Greg Tivendale, Andrew Krakouer, Pick 8 & Pick 26.

Sounds fair to me!
