Noob question...

So I was looking at increasing my collection of match worn guernseys (I only have one in my collection so far) and I was looking at bidding on a Freo match worn from the current auction. But...I see that the guernseys are unsigned? Do people not prefer them signed? And if I did have one signed would that all of a sudden devalue it because it was sold by the club "as is"?

:huh::huh:

Thoughts?

It's my understanding that Freo are selling these unsigned as there was an additional cost to the club to get the player to signed then and the AFLPA to produce a certificate of authenticity on the signature.

I would prefer they were signed, especially since they'll probably go for more than what I want to pay for one (I'm keen on Sandilands as I don't have one of his yet and the price is $270 already).

I'm not sure if adding a signature later will devalue the jumper, it really depends on the buyer and what they're willing to pay. The certificate you get with the jumper however should say "match worn, not signed", but there's been a lot of discussion about the certificate and it's worth anyway so that may not matter.

I had to wait a couple of months after purchasing a match worn guernsey, the delay was from getting it all authenticated by the aflpa and they do them in batches.

My personal preference is no signature
+1, given I generally wear the jumpers I purchase, even if match-worn I will wash them anyway. Therefore don't care for authenticity certificates etc. The delay just for having them done up is annoying.

Yeah I have a Jamie Cripps match worn from the Indigenous Round this year and it's signed, Looks very classy when it's a little bit dirty and signed at the same time. But each to their own I guess. I'm with you, in that if I pay good money, I'd prefer that a player have signed his jumper.

Good to see that you (finally) got the jumper you paid for!
Yeh, was pretty unhappy with how the club handled it as well. No apology or any sort of attempt to make amends through a gift voucher or anything. They took their time in sending the jumper to me despite using same day couriers, took over 1 week since they finally sent it.

I've been meaning to put a photo of this up for a while, and given that I accidentally won a couple of auctions at the Saints Locker during the week now seems like a good time.

I can't believe any fully grown AFL player would wear a Puma size M - those guernseys must be tiny.

I had a sheed 2015 that was medium, and it was tight as, and I suspect sheed is a little bigger than me!! This year he was in large, so maybe it was too small for him. I think only Jetta, masten and Duggan wear mediums at the moment.

What's the deal with the AFL patch on the OG HCB? Is it covering the old 90s logo? Doesn't appear to be the correct shape if it is.
It's over the VFL logo - St Kilda had a standalone VFL side in 2000, and this is a player issue jumper from that team. My dad bought it from the club in about 2004 for about $10, and it had the AFL patch on and I never thought to take it off, and now it'd feel weird to. It confused the crap out of 10 year old me, I thought it was from the pre-AFL days.

Yeh it's pretty tight on me and I'm about 5'9 - 5'10 and still in decent shape, doesn't look tight on Duggan either so he must have a pretty small torso right now.

Masten is an L got his training jumper this year and easily bigger than the Duggan M
