2014 is shaping up to be a beauty.

Supporters of clubs who should be excited about next season:

Geelong
Adelaide
Essendon
Richmond
Collingwood
Fremantle
Melbourne
Gold Coast
Port Adelaide
Western Bulldogs
Brisbane Lions

Now, only a few teams didn't make the list, with the obvious exclusion being Carlton. I'm not suggesting all of those teams mentioned will finish higher. That list is a combination of premiership & top 4 contenders and teams with a new coach or a promising future.

Where does Carlton fit it? You won't win the flag and you won't make the top 4. You are the epitome of a middle-of-the-road team. That's not exciting at all, lol.

The Bluebaggers have had a tough past decade or so. The only thing they had to be excited about was the multitude of top draft picks. But many of those picks turned out to be blunders and with their list now at its absolute peak, they aren't even a top 6 side.

It was the era that wasn't.

Blues CEO Greg Swann, Coach Michael Malthouse and President Sticks Kernahan talked the talk all year about how different the Carlton outfit would be in 2014.

"Radical" changes to the list were going to transpire, they told us. Yet all that's happened so far is they've lost their best forward in Betts, Shaun Hampson (Megan Gale) and they've offered up Bootsma. Plus they've been linked to some homesick kid who can't get a game at Brisbane. Big effing deal.

Their best 22 is ordinary and with Judd and Waite being old and worn out, they are on a steep decline.

Carlton supporters, what in the blue hell have you got to be excited about?

#believe ****ing LOL

Avoiding bottom four. 13th or 14th would seem to be about their natural level at present.
Big call. We were bottom four last year and we beat them - and now they've lost Eddie Betts, with no replacement in ability.

When the heat in the game is on a witches hat will do fine, they will miss his junk time performances though

Mick sat on his list last off-season, and it doesn't look like a significant intake of players is going to occur this off-season.

I don't believe there is much development in the Carlton list, but Mick seemingly does. (Though I will concede that he may be more experienced and astute than I.)

Will put money on Carlton to miss the 8 again, with this year a surer bet.

LOL, the Brions and the Crows don't belong on that list.

Brisbane has a new coach and appear to be on the improve.

Crows are adding Betts and Walker to their forward line, which is something to be excited about...

Waverley I know you mentioned new coach as something to get excited about, but Essendon should not be mentioned in a list that has any positive connotations whatsoever.

You're right. I should clarify with Essendon it really only means from March to May. That's what it's all about for them.

Why not? We were so close against Geelong, if the umpires had been fair in that game (And the other 4-5 games before that) We would of made the finals.

We are finals materials, the umpires have just screwed us over this year, hard to win games when the umpires butt**** you every match.

If you are referring to the current exodus, well we managed to beat Norf this year without any of the bloody sooks...And without Beamer and Black. Our list should be top eight in 2014.

Brisbane overachieved this year and have lost players (though upgraded significantly at coach).

Walker might be back, but recruiting Betts was laughable, and Pods, well...

LOL, you're as bad as Plugger.

Let's not forget your player exodus either.
