2014 is shaping up to be a beauty.
Supporters of clubs who should be excited about next season:
Hawthorn
North Melbourne
West Coast
Sydney Swans
Geelong
Adelaide
Essendon
Richmond
Collingwood
Fremantle
Melbourne
Gold Coast
Port Adelaide
Western Bulldogs
Brisbane Lions
Now, only a few teams didn't make the list, with the obvious exclusion being Carlton. I'm not suggesting all of those teams mentioned will finish higher. That list is a combination of premiership & top 4 contenders and teams with a new coach or a promising future.
Where does Carlton fit it? You won't win the flag and you won't make the top 4. You are the epitome of a middle-of-the-road team. That's not exciting at all, lol.
The Bluebaggers have had a tough past decade or so. The only thing they had to be excited about was the multitude of top draft picks. But many of those picks turned out to be blunders and with their list now at its absolute peak, they aren't even a top 6 side.
It was the era that wasn't.
Blues CEO Greg Swann, Coach Michael Malthouse and President Sticks Kernahan talked the talk all year about how different the Carlton outfit would be in 2014.
"Radical" changes to the list were going to transpire, they told us. Yet all that's happened so far is they've lost their best forward in Betts, Shaun Hampson (Megan Gale) and they've offered up Bootsma. Plus they've been linked to some homesick kid who can't get a game at Brisbane. Big effing deal.
Their best 22 is ordinary and with Judd and Waite being old and worn out, they are on a steep decline.
Carlton supporters, what in the blue hell have you got to be excited about?
#believe ****ing LOL
