There's some all time greats there but i went with Taxi Driver.

That film just stays with you.

The story and the emotions and thoughts it inspires are IMO much more memorable than any of the technical aspects involved in the film (direction, cinematography, etc.).

"June twenty-ninth. I gotta get in shape. Too much sitting has ruined my body. Too much abuse has gone on for too long. From now on there will be 50 pushups each morning, 50 pullups. There will be no more pills, no more bad food, no more destroyers of my body. From now on will be total organization. Every muscle must be tight."

Has to be Taxi Driver.

Also, for some reason I rate Casino over Goodfellas. It might be because of the cornfield death scene though.

I went with Taxi Driver.

1. Taxi Driver
2. Raging Bull
3. Goodfellas
4. Mean Streets
5. The Aviator

I'm not a big Goodfellas fan but I can't deny how well made it is.

About time The Aviator got some love. I think it's easily his best movie from the last decade, but it's never really talked about or mentioned.

Also agree with King of Comedy being underrated.

Like a lot of posters, my favorite is not actually his best. IMO...
I voted for Raging Bull. It is his best film. But my favorite is Taxi Driver.
Saw it on Betamax when I was twelve in 1981 and it scared the shit out of me that films like this existed. I've never been the same since...:D

Also, a vote for the very uncomfortable scene with Jerry Lewis in his house when De Niro turns up uninvited in 'The King of Comedy'

You could throw a hanky over Goodfellas, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver..... I went with Raging Bull by the smallest of margins.... To me these are the 3 standouts of what has been an extraordinary career.

My honourable mention goes to Casino. I still feel that this is an underrated film. I was locked from start to finish and thought the scene with De Niro and Pesci having a heated exchange out in the desert is as good a display of acting as you'll ever see....

One of the few movies I've stopped watching after less than 20 minutes.

Should have stuck with it, its actually quite a good film. Bill The Butcher is a great villain. Obviouslynt on a par with a lot of his work, but still worth watching.

Goodfellas for mine, its one of my top 5 movies ever.

There was reportedly something like 40 minutes cut out of it which has never been restored for some reason. Dunno why surely a Directors Cut would sell.

Goodfellas and Departed are my favourite films by Scorsese, with Raging Bull just behind.

In terms of his best work though, I'd go Raging Bull ahead of Taxi Driver which just pips Goodfellas. Raging Bull and Taxi Driver get all the critical raves but I think Goodfellas is in the same league. I love how Scorsese brings you back in time through his use of music in the film. Also, the camera work where the follow Liotta and his girlfriend from outside the restaurant to their table is excellence. Pesci has a tonne of highlights from the film as well. De Niro's smoking scene showcases his talent as well. Doesn't say a word but you know exactly what he's thinking.

Casino gets underrated in my opinion because it's always compared to Goodfellas.

Departed also gets underrated (I realise it won best film) because its screenplay was taken from another (foreign) film.

I have the Aviator but havent watched it yet.

De Niro's most underrated performance is in the King of Comedy.

Also enjoyed Mean Streets.

Very big Scorsese fan here. I think with a filmography as good as his, certain films are always going to get the most attention meaning others might come off as underrated or under appreciated when they might not necessarily be in and of themselves.

Casino has always been one of my favourite movies off all time i think its alot to do with my love of Vegas alot of history

Goodfellas is a great film but i dont think it is as good as Casino

I have never seen raging Bull or taxi Driver purchased both for 9 dollars and 11 dollars last weekend so looking forward to watching both had heard some good reviews about Taxi Driver and alot of terrible ones about Raging Bull

Im surprised people voted Shutter Island

Today it's Raging Bull

It's amazing "The Last Waltz" was not an option, it's even worse that no-one has mentioned it.

It's his latest film so people that are unfamiliar with scorsese as a film-maker are more likely to vote for it.
