I know people have been having a go at me for being to negative.....but I have a theory.....

I believe that alot of the people over years at the club have tried there guts out....and I would like to thank these people for keeping the club alive over the past 15-20years

I think we need to take a step back and find out what the real problem is. I believe it all comes down to members

More Members =
*higher attendances,
*selling more merchandise.
*more interest in the club, i.e ratings on tv, more people at functions and fun raises.
*More interest in the club also will mean that more sponsors will come on board.
With more sponsorship, membership and gate revenue this will allow us to get better facilities, better players and coaching staff.

now what does this all equal? Success.

And Success equals more members & supporters. and this is where the problem is at, we need to have success to get more members.....but to get success we need more members......

it's a simple theory.....but putting this it into practice is nothing but difficult.

So how do we get more members then? This is the bloody hard part. Most if not all of us here have joined up our spouses, pets, friends, taken extra memberships ourselves and managed to squeeze an extra membership or two out of Doggie "supporters" who hadn't previously joined up. After 3 years of trying, my sister finally talked a work colleague into taking out a family membership (4 new members), only to have the Dogs lose lose lose. (ok and lose lose :( )

Where are the 7000-8000 members who have not renewed? The only acceptable excuse is that they've died ;) . Ok, unemployment might qualify too.

Membership Yes.

Here is the question

If you spend $800.00 for a membership because the club needs the money.

Or do you buy 6 memberships at the basic $130.00. Either way you have contributed the same amount of money but is this considered a higher membership??

Let me know so next year I can go with the best option.

It all really boils down to showing the 'expired' members and the potential new members that it is actally something worthwhile to belong to. The current members will be members until they are out in a pine box so it is of no use preaching to them. However, there is a $hitload of other people who probably follow the club but have never bought a membership in their life.

Therefore, there needs to be something that makes them sit up and say 'what the f*ck is going on there, am I missing out on something here ??" In other words, a new 'look & feel' to everything that goes on, actions speak louder than words. The 'NEW BULLDOGS' for want of a better phrase so that people know that there is a definitive change and something new is happening and it is getting a ground swell of support. There is a change of attitude and appearance for the club and it is comparable with the other more highly fancied clubs in the competition. Now I do not want to unveil a few of my grandiose ideas here but I hope this is where the administrative/marketing thrust is coming from for next year. Launch with a bang, a new year, a new attitude and a new era, draw a line in the sand and say "this is it, we have had enough of the that old tired $hit, we are now going forward this way and never looking back, it's fun, it's exciting and it'll work, care to join us ??"

you would have to speak to someone who is a kennel/social club member......or something like that..........you would get more benefits if you buy a higher priced membership

I'm only an ordinary member. I can't afford anything higher at the moment as I'm a student. When i have a full time job i will look at becoming more than just a normal member.

That is my point, it is nice to have these benefits, but do they benefit the club as much as buying 6 normal memberships

I bought 11 game level 2 seating and have only sat in my seat once.

What I need to know is what membership is best to buy with the budget you have.

I paid $330.00 - should I have bought two memberships instead??

I'm not sure what the best option is??

Interesting symbolic point re "New Bulldogs": when someone like Giansiracusa (or Johnson or Darcy for that matter) becomess the "face" of the club rather than Libber and connotations of struggle (not that I have anything against Libber).

Certainly some sort of new direction is needed. If the club couldn't get substantial numbers of new members from the West after 1997 & 1998, something is chronically wrong.

I buy a membership every year which includes home games and a seat on level 1 plus social club, which gives me access to the social club ( I never use it now with not much to celebrate) and having a family to attend to at home. But, what social club does give me, is, guaranteed (as guaranteed as we'd like to believe) a ticket to the Grand Final. Now every year I buy this sort of membership in the hope that maybe just one day I can use it for this purpose, now I wouldn't want to be missing out on such an event, would I ?? But with the membership that you or anyone else buys I don't think it really matters to the club what type we buy or what's better for them because I think any membership is good enough for them, as long as we continue to renew.
