Jennings is one of the smartest footy brains there is.

Says a lot about how Bevo goes about it getting praise from him!!

Funnily, in the Danny Mcginlay/Tom Boyd pod, Tom Boyd talks about the game against the Dees which Craig Jennings referred to, and he said that the Dees replicated all the dogs' set plays, calling it all the same thing as the dogs. Smashed them at their own game.

Might have to give it a listen.

There is a segment on Saturday's SEN Crunch Time where one of the panel (don't remember who it was but he has been in opposition analysis at a number of clubs including the dogs) commented on the in game coaching skills of current coaches, and he rates Bevo the best.

The discussion comes as part of Richmond review, and they were talking about Hardwick.

Fascinating listen.

He moved to the Demons from the dogs and when they played us, gave them the keys to beating us, and they were 60 points up on us, and Goodwin apparently turned to him and said "we up by enough?" And his reply "not against bevo", rates him that high.
That goes against nearly everything this board has said about him

Josh Dunkley on the ESPN Footy Podcast. I haven’t listened to this yet but they usually provide a different perspective to the usual ex-AFL player narrative.

There was a game the year Melbourne were up and about (2018?) when the dogs, well, weren't. They beat us by about 50-60 points at Marvel/Etihad and the scoreline was fairly kind to us from recollection. Think we even kicked the first few goals and it was all downhill from there. Was the first game I'd taken my son to where the dogs lost, and we had some very smug dees fans all around us. Not a fun day.

Edit: yes, 2018 - just checked. 100-51, McDonald kicked four and Hogan five so the KPFs monstered us. Boyd, incidentally, had 1 kick, 3 handballs, 1 mark, 2 tackles and 13 hitouts. No wonder he doesn't have fond memories of that game.

Also, interesting to look at the lineup from that day. Won't list it all but less than ten are in our current best 22 so a fair turnover in less than 3 years.

Wasn't that the game where JJ was heavily targeted with Melbourne players were even taunting him on social media beforehand?

I remember that game well. It is an amazing list makeover in such a short amount of time.

Yes, that was the one. JJ surrendered prior to the bounce.

I thought it may have been the Round 13 game in 2017 where Melbourne won 113.to 56.

was the previous round vs Sydney that JJ was not protected and Melbourne taunted him.

I also remember in this game Honeychurch missed a goal that he could only miss.

Stand to be corrected I may be wrong

You may be right, actually. Whenever it was, JJ hasn't been the same player since.
