I don't know if this is the place for it or not, but the newish 9 duo of Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort is a good combo imo. Tom is quite the wit.

Slap in the face to Loxley though, who has more than capably presented the news alone on the nights Peter Hitchener doesn't. No requirement for Hitchener to have help though.

I’ve never understood why two newsreaders are required. I don’t get the “value add” of it. As long as the newsreader is understandable what is the benefit ? I get why you have two pilots on long haul flights or two paramedics in ambulances or even why you would want two sex workers but newsreaders, nah.

Alicia Loxley has read alone for years, more than capable, also works in other media, e.g. filling in on ABC radio. Which highlights your point even more. Why does she suddenly need an on-air partner? I don't have any issue with Tom Steinfort btw - at least he balances out the sports 'reporting' of Tony Jones and his 2 offsiders Tom Morris and Franken-McGuire jnr.

I agree that it's not necessary to have 2 news readers and like yourselves, I'm quite comfortable with one.

However, we're not the target demographic. The target demographic probably likes a duo.

So that's what I'm going to get whether I think it's necessary or not.

Of the duos out there I think this one is by far the most palatable. I even lol at some Tom's witticisms.

Slightly off topic but I noticed the Dog Tags thread above the line the other day ... and I very rarely venture above the line. But it occurred to me the title of this thread doesn't truly capture the contempt that most of us hold the AFL media in. So I'd like to suggest a change

Scott Gullen is a Dogs’ supporter (who also does a podcast for the Cats - go figure). He should know better. I’ll give them 8 - Pendlebury, Elliot, Cox, Mihocek, McStay, DeGoey, Hosken-Elliot and Mitchell. If they want to mention Richards and McInness then we can mention Coffield and Gardner - and Murphy has retired - so different to those with ACL’s.
So 6 v 8.

Interesting two that Niall used this weekend after our win to dribble on about the injustices of the father son rule saying they must cost more.

How cosy that the Geelong windfalls (pre having to trade for father sons just getting them for nothing) just slips on by again. Cool huh?

Can't possibly have a lowly minnow club like the Dogs getting advantage can we? I mean we already get so many advantages in this competition. Just look at all our blockbuster games.

3. Zane Cordy (traded, still on an AFL list)
4. Jake Stringer (traded, still on an AFL list)
5. Josh Dunkley (traded, still on an AFL list)
6. Tom Boyd (28 y.o., I'd argue retired for health reasons)
7. Toby McLean (28 y.o, I'd argue injuries caused his retirement)

Probably some others you could make equally dodgy arguments for.

Only a show with Morris as host could find a negative from a win over the reigning premiers by an injury ravaged side with a further two players injured during the game.

No need to come up with some complex reasoning behind it. It's as simple as pure incompetence.

Leigh is absolutely right though. Didn't understand why there was no movement from the forwards.

The movement was there, it was just all concentrated to where the ball was dropping. It should naturally be better this week without the glut of big men but once we have Naughty/Marra/Darcy and English all playing in the same game we simply can't have instances where they are all in the F50 at the same time.

Our talls routinely get triple or quadruple teamed so I suppose if more than one of them goes for the ball it lowers the risk of a defence mark, even if none of ours take it.
