I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.


And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Also, why do these writers think WCE would be desperate for Curtin to replace Hurn? Yes, they may rate him as the second best player in the draft and would take him as best available if we were holding pick 2 but we don't hold pick 2, we hold pick 1.

1 - Pretty sure that's what Witherden was traded in for. Ok, he's not as good as Hurn but his defending markedly improved this year, as did his kicking.

2 - We have Hough, who could perform a similar role if he doesn't move up to the wing. Having Cole back helps immensely also.

3 - Duggan plays a similar role across HB

4 - Burgiel's coming through, albeit more as a pacey rebounding half back player.

5 - Still have to fit Gov, Barrass, Bazzo, Jones, Rotham & HEdwards in somewhere(obviously not all players will fit in). Tell why TF WCE would prioritise another backman over Reid?

Eagles are getting smashed at stoppages and contested ball. Solution? Lets draft a back flanker. Genius!

All they are looking at is what teams can offer for Reid without even considering what the Eagles need.
If we need a replacement for Hurn then Hardemann may be available at 19 who was WA captain and is a similiar size and role as Hurn. Otherwise lets wait until we don't have #1 to pick a defender.

As I responded on the draft board to your post, I still wouldn't be doing this, due to being at the mercy of whoever North & Hawks pick. If North get band 3 for McKay, this trade proposition will go straight in the bin.

Honestly we probably wouldn’t even get them. Not sure Watson is on the radar for us and Duursma getting heavily linked to the Hawks. It’d be something like O’Sullivan and Wilson based on the current rankings

Is that really a big plan considering we could outbid them for the Suns pick 4 lol? That pick wouldn’t even guarantee us Curtin or McKercher either.

Guys please stop freaking out about that trade proposal, the guy on the show who presented it thinks GC would give up pick 4 for a 100 points upgrade lol, we could outbid the Dees if we wanted to

Also, Sydney wouldn’t give up their first for Grundy even if they got picks back.

I’m pretty confident we’re not dumb enough to trade pick 1 for 4 and 5 which would actually be 6 and 7 on draft night anyway. There’s no chance Curtin or McKercher get through to then.

However, if North do not get 3 for McKay, unfortunately I could see us considering a deal similar to that.

The real problem is that if North get pick 3 for the McKay compo, those picks will be 6 and 7.

Reid (Melbourne), Walter (GC matched bid), Curtin (North), McKercher (North), Duursma (Hawks) all gone.

Leaves Watson and Caddy for us? They're the two biggest flight risks in the draft.

We'd miss out on the best player in the draft, and the guy we're really keen on to get what exactly? This is the question people expecting us to trade pick one aren't answering.

Now if North don't get pick 3 and it looks like Curtin will slide to 5, then there might be a reason for the Eagles to consider it.
