Brisbane Lions will go on the longest dynasty we have seen in the AFL. Suspect they are up for 10 years and win around 5 of the next 10 as a minimum

People want to pretend it isnt happening but it is
Yet there will still be no noise around Ashcroft not being bid on until pick 5. Nothing to see here apparently.

Without Daniher I see them dropping off. Still top 4/6 though.

It's a huge loss, and everybody over in the ladder predication thread appears to have ignored it.

They were 40 points down in a semi final.
25 points down in a prelim.
Ended up being a fantastic, hard earned and deserved flag, but aside from Grand Final day I wouldn't say they were a convincing TOP side.

I have then 5th-8th next season.
Still struggle to beat Victorian teams in Melbourne.
May also have the and natural 'premiership hangover' as well, that has affected the previous two premiers.

2001-3 brisbane 2004 port 2005 Sydney 2006 eagles.

If they did as you assert, they took half a decade to do it

as opposed to magically happening overnight?

Lol they were lucky to finally strike and after so long. They've already had what should've been a dynasty and should've won more.
You get they got the best player in this draft and are going to get the best player in the next 2 drafts thereafter. Combine that with the increased cap and the flag chasing players who will take less to go there and it’s going to be a train wreck

agree and Daniher was pivotal in the GWS win.

Day and Hipwood don't really feel imposing like Joe

But like I say they'll definitely be up there

Collingwood won a flag with Billy Frampton at FF.

Cameron Morris Lohmann
Rayner Hipwood Ah Chee.

Is a very good forward line still. Overall the additions of Doedee/Coleman/Levi/Coleman will be grander than the loss of Daniher. Onwards and upwards for them and the next 3 drafts will just see that continue

Frampton wasn’t the full forward for the entire season. But you are right in that although Daniher retiring is a heavy loss, there are others to return to the side that can make them stronger, even if that is in other areas of the field.

No back to back since this hysteria
Coincidence I think not
There was probably something to the fact that in that era Victorian teams had really bad reserves set ups, it wasn't until Collingwood set up their own team in 2008 and Geelong being the first Victorian team to win a flag also having their own reserves.

2007 TV deal was also a big one, meant that the poorest clubs (the Victorian ones) were not so poor and could compete with extra AFL money. Facilities were upgraded around that time too.

the last time the AFL let the flag go outside Vic in back to back years, they changed everything to make sure that would never happen again, and it won't

Bees d*ck away from happening in 2023-2024
John Holmes d*ck away from happening in 2012-2013
one straight kick away from a Sydney v Port GF in 2014 which would have guaranteed it 2 out of 3
then non Vic teams in the GF from 2015-2019 (and considering the Swans academy, Eagles priority picks in Kennedy via Judd and Shuey, and the semi trailer full of top ten draft picks hand delivered to the Giants its a stretch to blame the league for teams melting like a chocolate fireguard on game day)
then even in the mickey mouse Covid year of 2020 once again a straight kick away from being a Vic v Non-Vic GF

So if the league mandate is to do everything in their power to prevent back to back Non-Vic flags, they have done one hell of a sh*tful job.
