Analysis What will happen at tonight's board meeting?

What an absolute joke that the media can film parts of the presentation!
Pretty amateur from the club to place themselves in such a position.

That Seven footage had some interesting info. One of the slides identified gaps in development including coaches for kicking, ruck coach and goal kicking. Given some or the conversation on here regarding that it's interesting to know the club recognises it.
Tackling was another gap identified. Pausing through that video the graphics are from the blueprint for the future (Peter Murphy), not Walsh's review of the football department and the slides shown look to be pretty generalised and generic in respect to survey response recommendations. That said other points amongst them are:

Player survey (30 responses): GM football to be more visible ---- decision making, leadership to more engaged in list management decisions

Health check (32 responses): the board to receive feedback on their performance, greater transparency in staff appointments, introductions between the board and staff (skill sets), mentor development for coach/captain, education for player leadership

Just need to keep that in context. That was a dot point from the player survey. So that's what the players think? I wonder how much weight that holds or in fact if it's all that relevant.
Would think the players views are more than relevant.
And remember that the players these days have friends that they grew up playing with spread throughout the league.
And they talk between themselves all the time. And they know how each club coaches them.
We are clearly lacking.

dont need a survey for that

Did they break down the players responses to "Should we keep Bux as coach"?
I'm guessing it would read something like....." J Blair votes - YES!"

Maybe its deliberate. Part of softening the big decisions release.
Of course its deliberate. If they wanted privacy, they would have ensured it. Strategically leaked buzz words designed to appease the masses and plant seeds that all the suspect areas in our game, recruiting etc are being looked at.

Thanks for the context barrackers. Tackling is a good point. Roos made a good point about keeping your feet while tackling also (made about Stewart from Geelong). I think that's an area we can improve.

I know it's not a great look that the media got that footage, but given one of the other points was to have this blueprint for the future accessible for transparency, maybe it doesn't really matter.

That's too much conspiracy for me. Given the slides were from the blueprint for the future presentation, and one of the stated aims is to publish the blueprint for transparency, maybe they didn't need to take precautions about it.

Dunno about conspiracy, cynicism maybe. Ed doesn't do much by accident.

I like that the players (or two thirds of them) want to take greater ownership in the direction the club takes, they seemed big on having a say in list management. In terms of the slides shown from those that were readable there's nothing ground breaking nor anything that would come as a surprise to other clubs and I'm sure if a similar survey was done here the bigfooty community would raise much the same issues.

First thing to get tomorrow morning down at dimmeys

Some Collingwood black and white drapes for the boardroom

So we're having a board meeting tonight and Walsh is tabling the outcome of at least one of our reviews. Do you think any big decisions are going to be made? If so what?

If you have or hear any news post it in here.

  1. Pies want formal education for player leadership
  1. They've identified gaps in skills. Kicking skills, goal kicking, tackling and ruck skills #pies
  1. Pies also want to invest in mentorship for senior coach
  1. The pies are aiming to review and repair TPP model over 12 months
