What would a Dutton Liberal leadership mean for the Liberals and the country?

He is a nasty man and it showed today in some of his interviews.

There is a reason they have hid him over the last two and half years. The mask will continue to slip as he does the campaign trail over the next few months.
Trouble is, that appeals to the dickhead vote, and I'm starting to think the dickhead vote is not insignificant in modern elections.

Targeting wasteful spending?

Not sure what constitutes supposedly 'non-wasteful' things. Maybe commuter car parks and sporting grants in marginal electorates?
He doesn't even know what he's referring to. I can bet your bottom dollar he's going to repeat the exact same talking points that got Trump (& Musk) elected.

Time will tell if Australian's are dumb enough to fall for it. I'd like to think so but there's no denying that this USA bullshit and their views are being imported into Australia successfully.

Distasteful because it's a disease he has. I stopped calling him a potato/spud for this reason.
C'mon. Srsly?

But if it was just old routine male pattern baldness that more than half the male population suffers from as they age - that would be ok?

What are the other impacts of this 'disease' on the day to day life of this 54 year old man who is seeking to be the next PM? It's not a disability is it?

We're not talking about a kid here, but a middle aged politician. Calling it 'distasteful' to make derogatory comments about his hair or lack of is laughable with meek (albeit juvenile) references to potatoes is borderline 'snowflake' imho.

Especially given his cruel and derogatory treatment and commentary on some of the most marginalised groups and individuals in society through RoboDebt, Stop the Boats, etc.

Seems to me that referencing this most divisive of political leaders in recent Australian history as 'spud' is one of the kinder things you can say about him.

More efficient? That was the sole stated aim of the RoboDebt scheme wasn't it - 'efficiency'. What marginalised group will be the next target?

This mob haven't learned a bloody thing from two and a half years in Opposition. Always about punching down and driving division.
Hang on, didn't Hume famously say the LNP don't have policies as they are not in Government?

A few people noticed that Dutton's slogan is pretty much a copy paste of the NZ Nationals slogan at their last election which they won.

How's that working out for them across the ditch?

humes on-air performance the night of the aston bye-election loss remains is an exemplar of blithering stupidity

almost up there with jeff kennetts pathetic blubbering on-camera effort the night libs lost the frankston east bye-election ... and in turn any chance of returning to govt - that was one ofthe most joyous nights of political tv ive ever watched - magic

No worse than calling Albo a ‘beta male’ (just like King Charles our HOS I thought)

This election will be a landslide of votes towards sound fiscal policy. People don’t give a **** about climate change, gender equality etc when they can’t afford a roof over their head.
neither side seems to have sound fiscal policy.

Yeah, I mean, there are 1,000 reasons to call him all sorts of things, don't need to resort to it. If you called him c*nt, that would be fine, it describes his behaviour. And we all know what it means (not female anatomy).

Some knickers getting twisted here. Hilarious. Well Played Xtreme. If and it’s a massive if because I still think ALP form a minority govt off the back of preferences, LNP was to form govt this place may just implode and a few heads will explodes

this is the thing i find hard to comprehend when conservatives fill their diapers with outrage .... a lot of economic indicators have time lead-ins where the trend-line logic is already baked in (often years in the making)*

if conservatives are going to lose the lunch over this then they should be calling for tony, malcolm, scott and joshs head on a plate

* housing affordability a case in point
I mean ...... Let's continue to ignore the thing that really hurts Australian families..... Disposable income.... And this graph says a huge amount about the performance of the Albanese government:
