I have been really impressed with him, particularly his work rate when we don't have the ball.

I can't see him getting much game time in the midfield until his fitness really picks up, but as a forward he seems to kick goals every game.

Is 30 goals an unrealistic target for him in 2008, assuming he plays most games in the seniors?

I'd love to see Rissole bag 20+ but expect he will have to improve his fitness to get enough game time to kick more than 20.

He definitely has the talent, but there are plenty of other goal kickers in the side that he'll have to compete with.

The main area I think he will stand out in is forward pressure, keeping the ball in Hawthorn's 50 and making defenders feel nervous and rushed.

A good year for Rioli will be to get a dozen games. A great year will be to play almost all the games. If he plays most of the games he will go very close to winning the Rising Star!

That will then make it abloody good year!

Well he has managed to bag a goal or two in every game he has played but it's his pressure on the opposition which is really impressive... I hope he has an influence on Buddy to start chasing and tackling backmen properly haha A good season for Rioli, 15+ games and more than a goal per game.

15 plus games
20 plus goals
and many more from tackles, contests, brillance and fear the defenders feel because he is in the area.

To be quite honest I would be happy for Rioi to hit the contest, lock the ball in and lay stacks of tackles and plenty of pressure. He could do this and kick no goals and I think he has done his job.

I think the club will be trying to hold him back a bit. Has anyone seen a guy go harder at the pill and in his chasing and forward pressure? I haven't.

This makes me think the club will need to keep a leash on Rissole because he is an absolute gun and has already shown freakish hardness and leadership.

I'm gonna say this until it becomes boring, and then a bit more. How did we get him at our Pick? Are the recruiters jokes or what?

Go Pelchin and Bucky !!!

Averaging over 1 goal and four tackles a game. I expect Junior Boy to add defensive pressure in the forward line to create goal opportunities and slow down delivery into the midfield by opposition defenders.

Rioli and Stokes will be a lethal one-two punch for us over many years.

Imagine the odds ???

TAB Sportsbet is offering $1001 the win and $251 the place For our Cyril.

Personally, all i hope from him is to add some much needed pressure in our forward 50 such as Alwyn Davey etc do at their clubs. We always seam to dominate the inside 50 count but we have a poor conversion rate from inside 50's to scores. It doesnt matter how many goals he scored, if he and maybe stokes puts that pressure on, it will fix 1 of only a few deficiencys that we have

playing 15+ games at the same level vs Adelaide.

True id love to see that!! he adds so much pace, skill, hardness and x factor! that hes just gotta be a starter!! with players like Rioli you just wonder how the Tim Clarkes of this world ever get to play at the elite level!!

Maintains intensity and manages 15 + games.

Personally, Im just wondering what sort of influence his efforts are going to have on his team mates. Out on the paddock, some of this stuff is going to be inspirational. Not bagging Williams, but I hope for one that he's taking notice of the effort this kid maintains. As good as Willow is, he could get stuck in the shadows a bit this year. Take a leaf of out Riolis book and add a new dimension to his game.

In the Sydney game I saw a very exciting combination of Willo, Rioli and Buddy - all looking to bring each other into the game. Absolutely brilliant. If Williams has the pressure of no1 goal-kicker taken away from him we have a VERY valuable half-forward.

This guys seemed to fuel each other in that game and when Clarko started experimenting with positions the effect was taken away. I was stunned with what I saw for that five minutes of gametime though.

Solid bump.

Expect him to play every game, starting from round one, provided that he is fit.

He will not play for Box Hill. You can take it to the bank.

So who do you have winning the Melbourne Cup for the next ten years?

When I think of a young Cyril Rioli, I recall a Hawthorn mate of mine sending me a link to highlights of Rioli playing at school. My mate said, "This is a guy the club rates highly and is hoping to draft him".

I eagerly opened the link and I saw a fat indigenous player jogging around the field and thought "This has to be a joke, surely". Then I spotted another player who was pure silk, it was Cyril. Got my hopes up and happily we managed to snare him. The rest is history.
