If you were coach of Carlton what would be your starting line up, take away all injuries any 22 players that are on the carlton list.

IMO this is the best team we could put on the field this season, this is only my opinion so feel free to correct me if you think Im wrong.

Backs Paul Bower Michael Jamison Bret Thornton
Half backs Kade Simpson Jarrad Waite Andrew Carrazzo
Centreline Nick Stevens Chris Judd Heath Scotland
Half forwards Mitch Robinson Matthew Kreuzer Andrew Walker
Forwards Chris Yarran Brendan Fevola Eddie Betts
Followers Shaun Hampson Marc Murphy Bryce Gibbs
Interchange Dennis Armfield Robert Warnock Aaron Joseph Jordan Russell
Emergencies Ryan Houlihan Richard Hadley Mark Austin

I would prefer Waite CHF/or HF with Austin playing CHB.
Also I rate Hadley ahead of Russel and where's Grigga?

My team:

Walker Jamison Thornton
Bower Austin Grigg
Stevens Judd Simpson
Carrazzo Kreuzer Waite
Betts Fevola Yarran
Warnock Gibbs Murphy

Armfield, Hadley, Robinson, Scotland.

Points:

- I don't see the need to have 3 ruckman in the team, the ruckman should swap up forward or swap off the bench like every other bloody well team does.

- Unlucky is Joseph, it was between him and Armfield, Armfield won out as he provide more run and carry, whilst also playing the small defender role.

- I like the idea of forward pressure, ala the saints and geelong's tactics, that's why I put Carrazzo HF, with Yarran (with a few pre-seasons), Betts and Waite all good chasers as well.

- Would love to see Walker back in the team and playing down back. I think he would provide a lot of leadership and just fit in nicely in that running creative role. But he can play tight as well. Throughout the game I would move him up forward or on the wing if need be.

- The flexibility of that side is unbelievable, Ratts could move Waite down back, Walker up forward, carrazzo down back, robinson on ball/down back, scotland on ball/down back. Thats a premiership contender IMO.:thumbsu:

You have got to be joking...Armfield can only run thats what he is good at. Joseph can shut down players for a good part of the night.

Joseph > Armfield
anyday.

On current form I would have to go with Ray or Moloney but Hammo may be on the verge as might Sidebottom

I know Thornton for Freo has played plenty of games as has Addison at the Bulldogs but my disinterest in the opposition means I know bugger all about them

Not Oakley-Nicholls but who knows about Hart's little bro and Hurley

The rest are pretty much unkowns especially at Hawthorn and North :)

Hard to say at this stage

Are you in the right place?

As can be seen by its lamish interest level, people are burnt out by these endless "best 22" threads. It's just a "look at me" that has been done over and over again. There is no final definitive outcome to the proposition. PLEASE find other ways to participate - at least until the list is refreshed.

If people are a bit over the standard "best 22" thread, what about the 22 you would put on the park if we were playing in the grand final next week?

i think that requires a different response. like, you'd name hoops over yarran or last year you might have named saddington over austin (maybe!)

Me thinks I should have rated that 22 for Adelaide a little more highly
