Not saying he had to stop dead, just saying he didnt have to jump. Why did he jump when the only use of jumping in this situation is to increase the risk of head high contact?

Mate they are not brain surgeons, they are footballers running at 100 mile an hour to every contest or they lose their jobs.

I thought he deserved 2 weeks based on todays standards. Based on how football was supposed to be played, well that debate can go on forever. Im sure the founding fathers didnt have the 2008 version in mind.

Seriously not having a go at you but

1. Have you ever played against men
2. If so are you a big bloke or midsize?

The jump is critical... get a mate in schoolground or work carpark ....to run at you and collide!

No need to go too fast try absorbing the hit buy being in the air at impact then try butting together feet on ground and tell me later PM if this thread is dead... which hurt the most!!!!!!!???????

Your team is down trailing in a hotly contested match

The signal is given for a ruck punch forward

YOU are on the square at centre bounce slighty forward of wing

The ruckman does his job

The ball bounces free enough for YOU to to sprinting from 22 m to collect it with tagger in tow

An opposition centre square midfield fielder dives and tries to collect ball one of your players goes to ground too quasi tackling fighting for the ball

Another opposition player trips or stumbles over the two on the ground, for the now loose ball now almost within grasp lunging to lock it in but does not have control nor even touch on the ball.

YOU are within 2 metres of the free ball. It is clear there will be a collision

What do YOU do?

seriously.... WHAT????
Explode with inhuman pace in that 2metres, grab that free ball and slam a massive torp straight through the goals. Game over!

yeah ur right lol a little over the top and sorry no stops in there very bad punciuation lol. but what else can u do with knowing some one gonna colide with u put ur head down and hit the ball.

There have been numerous collisions this year where players have unintentionally got players high. Some players have been suspended some have not.

How the Tribunal determine intent has got me bewildered.

I tend to agree with corpussle here, only because if you look at the incident buchanan eyes don't appear to be looking at Hodge...
difficult to tell;

I'm not here to condone head high intentional hits; however I think to a major degree the game is becoming more like netball ( i.e. incidental contact)

PS: If you want to see a game were similiar incidents occurred watch the
Crows -v- Port game..... The umpires let it go ..... could have been numerous suspensions & everyone applauded it as a great game.l

Cheers

Was thinking the same thing myself. Was at the game, have watched it 5 times and I have no idea WTF he was meant to do.

Game is ****ing soft as these days. If you went into a coma in 1989 and came out of it today and went to watch your beloved footy, you'd probably top yourself

Are you serious???

Doesn't play the ball, eyes only for the player and collects him high, he even went in like it was a hip and shoulder....deserves weeks.

Not once did Amon look at the ball and he could have easily run infront of the contest, but decided to leave the ground and collect Hodge.

Id take B(although try to keep my feet on ground), knock him out of the contest, take posession, give it on to a runner such as Goodes! It didnt work this time, simple as that!

Did Buchanan even look at the ball once? From the vision I've seen looked like he was lining Hodge up all the way.
