Gone Baby Gone: I'm glad in a way, as I am now less conflicted about Ben Affleck (director) and not as worried that he might actually be talented - because this was decidedly average.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (Extended version): Had been a while, fairly comfortably my favourite movie of the series. Extended scenes add little however and the pacing is much better without them.

A Clockwork Orange

First time viewing for me on this one. Not really sure how I feel about it. Definitely confronting, disturbing in parts and can see how it was controversial back in the day but was well acted and had a very interesting story arc.

Having read the differences between the movie and the book, I feel if they added in a few more things and change one scene to what it was suppose to be it would've made the story on film better.

Singing in the rain will never be the same for you again...

The film is one of Kubrick's master pieces.

Just watched Lights Out, was OK, not as scary as the trailer made it out to be but still enjoyable probably about 7 out of 10, give a extra point for having to watch Teresa Palmer

War of the Planet of the Apes

I don't think this sequel is as good as the previous one's, and the story seems somewhat confusing in the beginning. I liked how they have the Simian flu mutating to make humans become the primitive types Charleton Heston found in the original movie, a good twist. The film kind of becomes a bit ridiculous with Caesar leading the slave apes out of bondage to the promised land. The end even taking it's biblical rip off to the bitter end by having Caesar die as he gazes on the so called promised land for the first time (just like Moses). Not sure if the production budget was less for this film, as the apes looked a bit CGI cartoonish at times. 4/10

Agree. The plot and structure at the start was confusing. It became a McGuffin movie. Why would the humans care about the apes when they are being attacked by superior human forces?

And surely the human soldiers would've been better at rebuilding that wall rather than unskilled apes stacking rocks there willy-nilly in the hope it'll hold when the first missile hit it. Such a dumb plot.

Is this the Apes that was out this yr?

They blend into one.

So I should put my distaste for Ben Affleck aside and give Argo a crack?

Im very anti-Affleck, but i really enjoy this each time I watch it. Watched it once, did the research, watched it again, even better!

embrace the Affleck pain for 2 hours, then wash.

Watched Everest the other night and became so fascinated with the story I bought Jon Krakeour's book the next day. It's amazing the limits that people will push themselves too, climbing as high as the jet stream. Im envious, yet far more sensible and realistic about my limitations. Although if I had read the book or watched this film 20 years ago... who knows.

I agree, did find the extended versions of the next two LOTR are a lot better than the cinema versions, particularly the last one.

Blade Runner (1982) - Actually watched the directors cut whenever that was done. Nope, not for me. Very slow, annoyingly artsy at times and boring. The ending was pretty good. Maybe it just hasnt dated well and i might've liked it more at the time. 5/10.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017) - this is more like it. Took everything that WAS good about the original and updated it. The vision of the future was vivid and clever, the effects were brilliant and I was transfixed throughout even though it was a fairly slow pace too - it never got stuck. The girl from War Dogs was gorgeous in this too. 8.5/10

So I guess if like me you didn't like the first one, you might still like this.

Fantastic beasts and where to find them. Not sure what I was expecting, it was ok I guess. Looked good.
I saw this the other night, was a bit of a let down, some of the made up animals were kinda cool I guess and that sister who has something going on with that baker was very pretty, 'bout it.
