Wonder.

I really wonder what Julia Roberts was thinking being in this crap. It reminded me of Gilmore Girls type acting along with the shitty script.

Honestly at some of the most "serious" moments of the film I was laughing. Just some of the lines omg- its like I could have pulled a better script out of my ass. It was just a shocker. 3/10.

I however give the sweet cinema air con 10/10 and the popcorn and frozen coke a 8/10.

Can someone please explain the storyline between the daughter and her best friend? I had some serious "lesbian" vibes going on- like i thought she had a thing for the friend, hence why she got upset when she saw her with her boyfriend. But then it... idk wth that was tbh

Free Fire - The idea behind this movie, and others like it, is great. Minimal plot, and just 90 minutes of pure shoot em' up. For it to really work though they need to be visually spectacular, and aside from a few stomach churning moments, nothing really stood out. Ending didn't really feel earned or satisfying either. Cillian Murphy is eminently watchable however. 6/10

Super Dark Times - I'm going to stan for this flick, even though the last 25 mins took a strange turn. Friends just caught up in the hormonal angst of their teenage lives, gets thrown into something that upends everything. It gets a lot of shit right about being a kid at that age, and even when that 'something' happens it's like how do you deal with that and reciprocate your feelings to a girl.

Really good for the most part, but then it lost me - albeit still well shot - with a character decision. The final scene seemed completely out of place too. Still, the good far outweighed the bad, just wish it stayed the course with it's reflection and contemplation ala a film like Hide Your Smiling Faces. 8/10

The Circle.

This is the worst film I've seen this year, and possibly ever. There are no redeeming features here; the script, the dialogue, directing, the plot the acting was dog shit. Emma Watson could possibly be the worst actress of all time. Her face tells us absolutely nothing about what her character is thinking. She was preachy. She was shocking. She was woeful in this, as were Karen Gillan and Ellar Coltrane. The character development was non-existent, they never learned anything, nothing about them evolved and their decisions were inconsistent or they simply did things that were completely out of character.

I believe it was based on a book, but differed quite a lot from the original text. It's quite an interesting premise; the rise of social media and how far it would dominate our lives. Issues like surveillance, citizen policing, power, living our lives on a public stage etc. are probably worthy film topics, but The Circle simply covered one issue for ten minutes, then moved on to the next one. It was just so lazy. And incredibly preachy. And the ending was stupidly ambiguous. They built up this conclusion and then never told us what happened. The director was a massive smart arse. Several interesting storylines were just simply abandoned.

Tom Hanks and Patton Oswalt are good actors, but they were really bit players in all this and were under-used.

This is from Reddit;

"Ordinarily I'd assume that the end had been left open for a sequel, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, they just got bored telling the story so rolled the credits."

That's exactly how I felt.

Thankfully, I watched Wakefield after it, which was brilliant.

Lazy, is the perfect way to describe this movie. Had some good themes and ideas but ... it’s a mess.

Concussion and Steve Jobs. Nothing too much to say about them individually they are both ok I guess, Jobs is a bit messy at times but given both of them are biographies or sorts my main thoughts where do these people really need movies made about them? More in particular Concussion which was clearly only made to win oscars. Smith dissappeared into the character which was good but while definitely not scraping the bottom of the barrel for true stories it feels like we arent getting anything truly worthy and only exist for the purpose of winning awards as opposed to making a great movie. I know people will disagree on Jobs even after the movie I didn't find him that interesting and only thing I learned was that he was a bit of a dick sometimes.

Columbus - 7/10. Bit of a Lost in Translation, Before Sunrise Trilogy film.

Jin meets a girl called Cassandra upon his visit to Columbus where his architecture scholar & ill father is currently at. They develop a friendship, explore the town and it's architectural elements while discussing life and what's the future.

Justice League - cliched? Yes. More character development required? Yes. Still found it epic, entertaining and fun, though.

Logan Lucky - a clever and original gem about a motorway heist that flew under the radar this year.

Murder on the Orient Express - a movie elevated by its cast and likeable eccentric detective.

Jim & Andy The Great Beyond;

Being a young buck I didn't a clue who Andy Kaufman was. Never saw Man on the Moon.

This blew me away and was utterly unbelievable.
Is Jim Carry a genius? Insane? A bit of both?

8/10 enjoyed this, completely unexpectedly.

Jungle - Daniel Radcliffe, Thomas Kreitsc....hammer? Hes german, hes the german guy from everything.

True story of a young jewish man (Yossi Ghinsberg) doing some hiking in Bolivia who is convinced to go searching for some gold in the jungle with his mates. Without spoiling any more its a good performance by Radcliffe (if he could learn to stick with one accent it would help a lot) and a pretty harrowing tale that's translated to a goo (not great film). Some pretty nasty stuff if your squeamish but worth a look. 7/10

The Untouchables

First time seeing it, absolutely loved it. Connery was brilliant, very young Costner not far behind him.

Some memorable lines and very entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed.
You'd never seen this before?!??! How old are you Jatz?

Thor: BONGDYBOOK
Well executed drivel. Minutes felt like hours. Was bored until NZ people arrived. Plot was crap. Valkyrie chick was a bit cute and I was hoping she'd end up rooting Hulk so that was also disappointing. 5/10

Justice League - Went into this a little skeptical with some critics giving a bit of a pasting but I felt it wasn't too bad for an over the top comic book movie.
There was plenty of laughs especially where Wonder Woman's lasso of truth was concerned. One thing I liked compared to Avengers was the non super powered characters (Batman and Flash, he may be fast but he's still flesh and blood) didn't go toe to toe with much stronger characters where Black Widow and Hawkeye I felt were portrayed as a bit more than they were or survive Hulk on the air craft carrier which is just silly. 8/10
