The kings speach - Long, learn more about the royal family than I knew before other wise just ok.

Black Swan - I am still confussed - wouldn't recommend - some good bits though

I have a free ticket to see Submarine so will go later this week.

I saw Spoorloos years ago and had a similar reaction to Caesar. The tension builds, but the ending genuinely shocked me.

Watched Barney's version on Saturday night. Paul Giamatti was brilliant. A magnificent performance.

This film reminded me of About Schmidt in that the main character was such an obnoxious bloke that it can be hard to empathise with him, yet while I hated About Schmidt, I loved this. Maybe Paul Giamatti gives the character warmth.

8.5/10

Probably the best movie i've seen at the cinemas this year. I really like movies that change it up go from one genre to another. I felt this movie successfully transitioned from comedy to drama quite impressively. Giamatti and Hoffman really impressive in this.

You seen American Splendor? Another great Giamatti flick. :thumbsu:

Seen three movies in two days.

Poetry 2010 - the most impressive film i've seen for a long time, beautifully filmed and subtly powerful. The ending is open to interpretation but extremely well done. Korean films continue to impress me. 9/10

Submarine - Didn't really live up to the hype. I found the first half really good but as it went on became quite boring and the characters didn't really appeal to me. 6/10

Johnny English Reborn - These movies are best seen with friends. :p Was shaping up as possibly the worst movie i've ever seen but the ending was actually pretty well done. Stupidity Tries ;) 4/10

Just watched Touching The Void again, having first seen it a number of years back.

Extremely chilling, regardless of pun. The honesty of the interviews almost Duigan-like.

He says at one point : "You have to make a decision, even if it's the wrong one. You have to do something." Really, really, potent.

Fright Night 3D

Big fan of Tom Holland's 1985 original so I just had to check it out.

As expected, another inferior remake and another 3D flick where the only reason for the glasses was to jack-up the ticket price.

Two highlights:

1. Cameo by Chris Sarandon, the original Jerry Dandridge, suburban vampire.
2. Closing title credits sequence.

And McLovin was pretty funny as 'Evil Ed'.

Two fangs.

Yep - Love American Splendor. Amazing that he is now a lead actor. Much like Phillip Seymour-Hoffman. Honed his craft as a support, then goes from strength to strength as a lead.

I hated Sideways though ! Films about very flawed people are interesting to watch. Unless I feel some empathy for the character, I find it hard to enjoy the film. Barney's Version and American Splendor fall on the positive side for me and rate both films highly, yet Sideways and About Schmidt, I found the
characters so obnoxious, I simply hated them and did not enjoy the films.

Thor - Thought it was great. Could have used possibly a little more action but really enjoyed it. Anyone know if they have a sequel planned?

The Prestige - Not the first viewing but still as brilliant as if it was. In my top 5 movies ever I reckon.

Your Highness - Complete crap. Can't believe so many 'known' actors agreed to do it.
