what's the scariest movie you've ever watched?

Yeah I draw the line at that- would not like to watch that at all.

Irreversible was probably the most out there film I've watched. Pretty brutal..

i had to laugh at the name of the gay nightclub in this

I've always meant to watch this just to say that I have I suppose & fairly sure I have it downloaded somewhere but if there is such a thing as 'being in the mood' for these type of films, I guess I may never get there.

& to be fair to the intentions of this thread (unless I am mistaken), a lot of these films being mentioned aren't really scary, just extreme gross out films, a big difference imho. A good horror film is a genuine work of art whereas these others, well not so much, many are just the demented delusions of someone with too much money.

Totally. Was discussing Silence of the lambs with some Year 9s just then lol.

Described how "less is more" and that it actually wasnt that violent on the screen. But still scary af. Imo.

thats why i find supernatural movies, like conjuring or paranormal activity scary, its the anticipation of a scary scene coming up, or even the scoring of the music can give me goosebumps

Eh? Thats the reason why i DONT find them scary. Serial killers = can happen irl = scary.

:D

I know the Sausage Party preview was shown during a kids movie.

I disagree re. underestimating content. It's pretty easy to read a review, look up imdb movie board/content or just hey, take a look at the rating and what the movie contains. A worker at the ticket counter should have also warned them.
Went to watxh Borat at the cinema when it came out. Two grndmothers sat in front of me with 4 young kids. They lasted 10 minutes.

Great example, the scene when Jodi Foster is in the dark had the entire cinema freaking out, & thats not easy stuff to do effectively.

Also the bunny scene in Fatal Attraction, scare & horror combined beautifully.

And then... after talking about SOTL.. we turn the maths problem over and i shit you not- the example had lambs in it like "the farmer has 80 lambs... etc"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also how Anthony Hopkins won best actor- and is only on screen for like 30 minutes??? And yet he is a massive presence in the film, you would think it was much longer.

Love that movie.

Hated the book tho- thought it was shit, the sub plot and just... nah didnt like it.

Good point. I had this discussion recently with friends. I postulated that ghost movies or things like it like grudge, the ring....they freak me out.
however movies like hostel, saw freak/gross me out more because they flesh out the worst in mankind, and are real.

Has anyone actually seen ASF?

Please... review here..

FWIW- it's still just a dramatized movie, so all good imo.

i thought about downloading but i watched the trailer and it is like WTF

When I was very young, my dad, for some reason, let me stay up late one night to watch The Incredible Shrinking Man with him.
I had nightmares for days. :D Images of that film is burned in me memory like no other

Yeah i dont blame you in the slightest. It would be one of those films that would completely **** up your mind for days.

I know Irreversible did that to me- stayed with me for at least a week.

I still think about it when i go thru under passes.

Probably Alien when I first saw it at 9 or 10, Aliens was also scary as a kid. The Candyman was pretty scary too. Recently, The Descent was pretty scary too. Blair Witch had it's moments also...
I got nothing from Blair Witch, it must have got to some, but maybe I missed the point or misunderstood iot I don't know , The Descent was a creepy sort of thing, Alien and Aliens, as all of them are , were fantastic, and the first time it is really horrible because that critter was bloody terrifying. And still is , but now you sort of know what your getting.

The film that left me most physically disturbed? Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake for sure

Most brutalist torture pr0n I've ever seen and put me off a lot of horror ever since

Clever people make movie terror without needing horror of blood and gore and pr0n, its what gets your mind that's frightening.
Like the "Innocents" from the sixties, Debra Kerr, I mentioned before, it is goose bump creepy, and very well done, I've never forgotten it, and I think its based on the "Turn of the Screw" book?

I was on here the other day about the same thing.

I understand that its an old movie but those dark Gothic typed ghost stories they have an old deep fear in them!

Hard to explain.

For you younger ones it is worth the curiosity to find it , I'd be interested , maybe it was when I was much younger that it affected me, I have only watched it once, and always wanted to again , but weirdly I spooked myself out of watching it again, so its a long time ago.

I did get my eldest son to watch it, it spooked him too.

It was frightening, you younger people might think its nothing, but... you never know?

But blood fests are not really spooky , just edgy.

Mick Taylor can make you think twice about the open road ha ha ha !

Yep, similar story here.

I never watched Exorcist, because two of my adult mates at the time in their early twenties so, not 9 or 10 , but they seriously got quite badly affected by that movie, another mate went another time and laughed half of the time the movie was on, he reckoned it was ridiculous, the other two guys , well it really disturbed them, true story, weird.

So big chicken me said I'm not taking the chance of getting my brain bent ! ha ha .

Lucky I wasn't 9 years old.
