Boomer Harvey 20 mins or so into the last quarter. Gets a questionable holding the ball decision. Knows the umpire is behind him, so deliberately knocks the ball out of Priddis' hands, and then throws the arms up and asks for the 50, feigning that Priddis has thrown it away.

Gets the 50.

At best, it's the equivalent of diving to get a free kick. And we're not a big fan of that sort of thing in Australia.

At worst, it's blatant cheating.

I actually admire Harvey as a player, but this sort of thing isn't just trying to get an advantage for their team. This is a guy performing a deliberate cheat to get a favorable outcome. It is worse than pretending to get a free kick.

Knocking the ball out of someones hands deliberately then jumping up and down/pleading for a 50m penalty acting like the opposition deliberately did it is blatant cheating in my view.

More fool the idiotic umpire that paid it, but to be fair to him he was blindsided as Priddis had the ball behind his back when Boomer knocked it out and only responded to the claims Boomer was making pleading for a 50m penalty for nothing and a ball dislodgement that he did.

Poor form Boomer and even more so at a critical time in the game which was up for grabs.

A few years ago in a final against Sydney at Subiaco, one of our players stepped off his line to allow a Sydney to run into him and then appealed for and won a 50.

It's hardly anything to get too upset about.

What is the difference in trying to get an advantage for their team by fooling the umpire and getting a favourable outcome by fooling the umpire/'deliberate cheating'?

Both are unsportsman-like in my opinion, but if you deliberately play the whistle and try to take the easy way out, it's just as bad as what Boomer did imo.
