Although not yet worthy to be mentioned alongside the likes of Dermott, Plugger, BBBBH, Goodes, David Rys Jones etc the young man is showing tremendous promise, what will it take to propel himself into the conversation or beyond in the Thug Stakes?

Goodes? As in Adam? Turn it up.

The Hyphen, Big Bad Barry and others would have Toby wetting his pants before the first bounce. He's not even close to those guys.

****, he would not even be in top 200.

He isn’t a thug at all. The things that those players did ‘back in the day’ are on another level all together to Greene. A level that is much much worse.
Any time I seen some old black and white footage from start of tv era of footy, I just see every second or third player up to not good and using elbows or anything. By time I watched footy most of that was gone and camera footage could be used as evidence, still some stuff happened off ball and off camera but much cleaner than 60's and 70's. Now we got many more cameras at ground and all games, it is about as clean as can get.

fu**, he would not even be in top 200.
The problem is, in the modern game, you can't be the type of thug that those other guys were. You'll never see thuggery like those older blokes in the AFL again. He's the closest thing we have to a modern day AFL thug.

Goodes flopped towards the end of his career but I don't remember him as a dirty player.

Is Goodes being dirty a popular opinion?

He's not a thug though, he plays the ball and once in blue moon does something reckless. A thug is someone just as likely to go the man than the ball if there a choice between the two. Been sometime since we had one of those. Maybe Roger Merret or Lethal Leigh or Rod Grinter.
Mummy is closest thing we got to one but even he still mostly plays the ball, but if he can fall on someone with his knee he will. He plays like someone more from Merret era but Greene is much cleaner. Greene does dumb stuff rather than thug stuff.
