The voting system is out of control, it's a midfielders award now and the umpires make it easy on themselves by just voting for one of them. It's too difficult to adjudicate this game and then select who was best playing it. It must be taken out of the hands of the umpires immediately.
We don't have one umpire anymore, things change and the voting system must change, the Cripps win makes him the greatest player of all time according to the umps and of course he isn't, he might be considered a top 10 of the last 25 years but that's it. Some midfielder will get to 50 votes one day and it will be totally undeserved.
This is one time tradition should go by the wayside.
