Which club is Kevin Sheedy most associated with?

Yeeeeah that was an interesting call.
Better off waiting for a truly worthy person for the honour - someone who helps shape the club into greatness, rather than go too early and name it after the guy that took the AFL retirement package - at least though he was your first coach.

If you asked him, it would be Bombers.
But if you also asked him what were his most visceral and affecting footy moments, it may well be as a player, in amongst it on the field, rather than an onlooking coach.
Does anyone remember the 73 GF, the Evener Upener GF? He kicked the Tige's first three goals as a ruck-rover. Also pivotal in the 74 GF with his cunning and IQ. A terrif finals player.
I think he may have been one of the early fulltime professional footballers, when not training and playing he would travel around the Melbourne suburbs giving footy clinics to kids. I met him early 70s in this capacity when he came to my school. I'd never done a pushup before, and I remember his discipline well.
His career roughly parralelled that of Leigh Matthews. They were always combatants with completely different approaches; one was cold and calculating, nearly emotionless, the other a raconteur, unpredictable. As players I'd argue Sheedy's finals performances matched those of Matthews. Though Sheeds never figured much in awards. As a coach, Leigh seemed to usually have his number in the big games. Leigh could be regarded as Sheed's nemesis. And in post the coaching years, Leigh retains an elevated poisition in the game that would probably drive Kevin nuts.
