Spain, Italy or England?

I know this will probably just cause arguments (as me and my mate were having when i decided to make this thread) but i'd like to know what you guys think.

My personal opinion is England.

I think England does now (thanks mainly to Chelsea), obviously the EPL haters will come on here and suggest otherwise but imo not only is it unarguably the most exciting league in the world it's also the best quality.

Evidenced by the fact that players who play in England scored more goals than any other league in the World Cup.

World class is used far too easily in my opinion. For me there are only a handful of world class players playing at the moment.

Henry - Ronaldinho - Kaka - Shevchenko - Rooney - Gerrard - Messi - Buffon - Canavarro

Agreed. I dont know if I'd have Rooney and Messi in there either. Both young and havent really proven too much. I have no doubt they will both be there soon though.

Besides Shev Chelsea dont have any other World Class players. 2 years ago I'd have had Zidane, RVN and Nedved in the list too.

yeh fair call that - Messi and Rooney are junior world class - I reckon give them a couple more years and they will comfortably move into that bracket..

Your right - players to have recently left that list would include - Zidane, Nedved, Ronaldo, RVN

That's just rubbish. Unarguably? Best quality? EPL is the best league for EPL fans. Australia, with its obvious UK connection, is full of EPL fans who'll say EPL is the best league, Gerrard is the world's best player, the English crowds are the best... Those are all biased opinions. I mean, just check out this board.. Of every 10 threads, 9 are on English football. There's more attention for the 2nd division than for la liga. Go to Europe and you'll find that EPL and la liga's popularity there are a lot closer.

I prefer a certain kind of football I see much more of in Spain than in England. So for me la liga is more exciting, although you won't hear me say it means they are the most exciting league.

Believe me, I watch all Spanish league matches on ESPN as I probably watch 3 EPL games per week, and there is no chance you can say one's more exciting than the other.

To find out a league's real quality, as far that is something you can measure, check this: http://www.sportal.de/fussball/uefa/jahresuebersicht.html

Ah the world cup :D . Are you one of those guys whose opinion gets influenced completely by a month of after season summer football? Ronaldinho and Lampard didn't do anything in the world cup, what does that mean?

To answer the original question, EPL has more class players, simply because it's the richest league. That has nothing to do with excitement, just as serie A wasn't the most exciting league in most of the 90ies unthanks them having most of the stars, and in this case not even quality, quite clearly.

makelele is definately world class

, how can you go past Klose, Podolski and Ballack, maybe I a little biased:eek:. I love watching the German league, for me is the most exciting, as it is a great competition on the next level down. I have always been of the opinion that it has been hard for the EPL to attract world class players, and that they have not always adapted to the change in play, and thus have wanted tot return to the Serie A or La Liga, this is mainly those players of Latin/ Italian influence. I really can't seperate the EPL from La Liga, and I would hazard a guess if each team from the EPL played each team from La Liga, the Poms would win, I feel their competition is stronger on a whole. Maybe on world class players, Spain is just ahead, but only just.

Ballack: Maybe.

Podolski: You are joking right.

Klose: No.
I was kind of being sarcastic, but then I think about it. Ballack would be a world class player had he not played in Germany for his whole career until now. Klose is the best striker in Germany, and currently is one of only a couple to score 5 goals in a World Cup twice. A big game performer, and thus could be classified as World class. Podolski isn't there yet, and due to playing in Germany probably won't get there, however if i was to have to choose between him and Theo Walcott, I know who I would be picking.
