Which video game console do you prefer?

Now that the Nintendo gamecube has hit the Australian market I am very interested, to see which console would be the most popular!
What machine do you prefer, or if you were going to buy one of these machines, which one would you choose???

XBOX is simply beautiful! like a computer, so beautiful and the best by far.

PS2 too slow compared to XBOX and graphics not so consistent.

GameCube is a kids console.

What if I like Sega Dreamcast still? Apart from that, I like the PS2, just for the range of games. But I'm sure the other platforms will have stacks out soon.

The dreamcast is old and pathetic!
The reason why I did not include the dreamcast is baecause it does not even compete with the other three machines.

Since i've never played the XBox or the GameCube and I brought the PS2 about 3 months ago, I would say the PS2 is the best!

I have been going to test out the Xbox they have set up at EB, Harvey Norman or any other place that sells them, BUT they ONLY play bloody ******ed car racing games on them!! RACING GAMES SUCK!!

IF they put Halo on THEN I would try it!!

I have had my Playstation2 over a year now and I'm really happy with it. Playstation2 has the best range of sports games, (which I like the best) and although I have recently purchased a new DVD player, it's handy to be able to play DVD's off the Playstation2.

A good friend of mine is really into GameCube and got his at the midnight launch the other night. I'm sure he'll tell me all about it when I next talk to him, but until it gets more sports games available, including a better cricket game than Cricket 2002 on PS2, I probably wont get one at this stage.

As for X-Box, I am not a huge fan of this machine. The selection and quality of games available is pathetic and although the price has come down to get people to buy it, I wouldn't bother unless they too introduced an absolutely unbelievable cricket game that was heaps better than Cricket 2002 on PS2!!

Looks like the Playo is winning strong.... but this was a bit predictable considering the playo's been out for so long! of course the owners jump in and vote bias ly

I like all 3 of the named consoles and have played each one and have owned a PS2 and currently own a Xbox and will soon be owning a Gamecube.(although my girlfriend is looking over my shoulder at the moment and saying I wont be)
At the moment the Xbox doesn't really have a lot of great titles out at the moment but that will change by the end of the year. All the new seasons sports games will be coming out, then another great game in Morrowind will be out also.
Gamecube already has some titles that I desperately want. Rogue leader is number one on the list followed by Wave race and also Super Monkey Ball.

I'm bringing this thread to the top because I want to see if anyone has changed their views on each machine etc. and what they think is the best now?

I am about to purchase either an X Box or PS2 and I'm not sure which one I am going to get until I get some advice.

We have an XBOX at home. My housemate produced xbox.com.au so now we have like 20 free game titles.

I've played ps2 and loved it..but xbox is a bit better in handling graphics. It is the closest game console to a computer.

HALO and Max Payne.

HALO is awesome.

The dvd is a bit dodgy on the xbox i must say.

Actually picked up an Atari 2600 on eBay a couple of months ago. Pure classic gaming, it came in a hard plastic, very rare, along with a dozen games.

I still reckon the N64 was the best machine around, but I voted for the PS2 as that is the one I use most in the list.

As for the current systems, I ended up getting my Gamecube, love it, also love my Xbox too, but really not as much at the moment.

If not I choose the SuperNintendo or Sega Master System 2 (Alex the Kidd!! Yeah!!)

Am also quite happy with my PS1.

I am so unco at all these new-fangled 3D shock-enabled games and the new controllers have so many buttons and doodads . My housemate has a PS2 and I am content to watch him play Medal of Honor, Grand Theft Auto 3, Solid Metal Gear and whatever.
